I bought a scooter I live up hills so I needed to commute all down hill to the train station, this tutorial helped as I was having trouble applying the breaks heavily to slow down on hills. So thanks for this I know to lean back now when I'm going down
You want to squeeze the glute of the leg on the platform so you're standing tall, then drop back down. Thats how you maximize your acceleration. Think of it as an exercise. Dont just balance, squeeze the muscles. Full range of motion
TYSM THIS HELPED ME SO MUCH AND ALOT SINCE IM A 11 YEARS OLD HERE MY DAD GAVED ME A SCOOTER TO LEARN AND I MOSTLY DONT FOUND ANY HELPFULL VIDEOS AND THEN I ALMOST GAVED UP UNTIL I FOUND THIS INSPIRATIONAL VIDEO
I rode a scooter for the first time in years. I naturally remembered how to ride on one side from when I was a kid, but I have no idea HOW I did it to teach myself on the other leg.
I tried one (oxelo 7xl, 110 euro) in the shop which had a handbrake too and some suspension but I didn't notice really so much difference with the lower priced 5 XL so I bought the latter one (90 euro) The model you see here looks a lit like the 5XL but they speak here of suspension so I am confused. I did a test today and it rolls smoothly, even on a not so smooth surface. It's officially recommended for short distances like 2 km maximum and I agree with that because it's really more a kind of medium hard sport if you do longer distances. My heart rate went up faster than with the bike surely but less fast than with running. Compared to walking it's almost twice as fast, at least for me. It's better for the knees than running but you still need good legs. I wished I could adapt it myself so I had some basic sitting support and the surface could perhaps have been a bit broader for more room for both my big feet. (I even started thinking about a sail ;-) ) The technique is no problem at all. I didn't feel the need for protection wear and used the brake only once ...on a calm road admitted. Folding is very hard first but the mechanism seems to need working in . For around 100 euro or dollar, this is a really good buy, I think..although it's use is rather limited.
I saw this in a video about kickbikes. Let's say your left foot is on the deck, and you are kicking with the right. You wish to switch feet, so rock back on your left heel and turn the left foot outward. Put your right toes on the front of the deck. Transfer weight onto the right toes and the left foot is free to kick. As you kick with the left foot, set your right foot on the deck with a slight twist. This allows you to maintain speed, does not require you to look down with a little practice.
@@fastingfeastingfoodie2786 No really, there is no learning curve, keeping balance is a no brainer although it was slightly more difficult to use with my right foot on it. Skating is dangerous but this is child's play.
Cute I got one yesterday. I choose between 7 and 9 I choose 7 is lighter and I like the switch fold more than easy fold with foot. Is very hard going up the hill but is, lovely going down lol. In Netherlands we, don't allow anything electric so for short distances this, has to do it. I went shipping with it too Noone minds it.
I think the difference is in working your muscles symetrically, if you're interested in the fitness aspect. The same if you went to a gym and lifted weights only with one arm all the time, it wouldn't be good for muscular balance.
It’s ok we all start off somewhere I’m 10 so I’m sorry if my grammar is hard to understand but anyway. To ride a scooter well you just need to have one thing - confidence then you just need to learn the basics of pushing and braking. Hope this helps if you need anything else just reply
@@rubenmejias7302 haha, beat you; I've just got mine and I'm 62. Up to the restaurant last night, they parked it out back while I eat and drank... Back home in no time!
My favorite thing 🤩❤🔥 dream definitely gonna purchase this one soon. Don't care about what people think say. I know they will say it's kid made not for adults. But i will ride. Please don't listen them.
You should NEVER use your brake on a scooter! (unless it has a rim brake) It will deform the rear wheel and the ride will feel bumpy on a flat road. To stop or slow down use your foot but don't slide it!
I’m a college student and I got one of these bad boys to get between my classes in the allotted time :-D
How is holding up

For switching feet, what if your deck is not wide enough for both feet side by side?
brendalg4 than slow down a bit, jump off one foot and quickly put the other one on

Be safe.
2 weeks old i enjoy my ride❤❤❤❤
I'm right handed and ride regular but push off with my left leg. I've been doing it wrong for 35 years. What is the difference? Stability?
DroneXFun your not doing it wrong. It depends on you. And there is no difference

@@CosmicSeeker69 I'm 55 and just bought an Oxelo Town 9, go to work on it, great exercise and fun!
Sarah Vincent, are you still riding? I just ordered one because gyms are closed.
Also remember that you dont steer at high speeds but you countersteer ;)
What is that?
What does this mean???
Left is right and right is left. Don't overthink it, you will do that automatically without thinking.
What scooter is he using? I'm looking into getting one for traveling around
Andrea Johnson Me too, I was going to ask the same question.
Andrea Johnson u will enjoy it. i just got mine yesterday. damn there fun
Ruben Mejias what kind of scooter is it?

You can find it at decathlon
The Oxelo town 9 EF v2 is awesome
Why do i have trouble balancing....?

How unfortunate. A moment of silence for those acid washed tight bluejeans...
Thanks for the video.

Really? What the heck. I hate using my foot to slow down because it actually hurt my ankle a lot.
@@Dezlite Try a slight combo: use the break to slow to something manageable for your foot/ankle to stop completely. Helps save both break and ankle:)
shoe is more expensive than the wheel :D
When my sister order my scooter coming in 7 days
How long did it take you to learn it ..
I automatically knew how to use a softer idk this video exist but I guess some people dont know how I mean it's like a bike
Does what it's supposed to do. Poor slowly my friend.
Next tutorial: How to buttercup
u think these can handle 50Kms each day fine? trying to save bus money
They can. Take the scooter to the nearest bus station, then take the bus, then use the scooter again from the bus station to your destination :)
@@mdo that was a foolish idea on my part, timewise-- takes a lot lol
i don’t think it’s safe to switch feet while scootering
It's safer than using one completely exhausted leg.
Isn’t it just commonsense ? Only stupid people need tutorial on kick scooter,
Alvin Koh I always knew I was stupid
LucidVibes glad that you know it.
Not if you have problems with dyspraxia!
if you've literally never used a kick scooter before how the fuck would you know?
