I've been off work recently for while with an illness and have been binge watching your videos this past week as I have decided to get back into the hobby. Your videos have been keeping me sane and reminding me how much I enjoyed when I had fish in the past. Good luck with the gallery.
So happy for your progress (and the cart). Love the Fred Flintstone approach to moving acrylic. I vote for spring loaded steps on castors. They move without pressure but stay in place when someone steps on them. And - Excellent point about UV treated clarity and the lack of damage to beneficial bacteria.
That's pretty remarkable. I love seeing the scale of these systems super sized. Although part of me wants to make a tiny impractical version. I do t know why my mind goes there. Way to go Joey it's coming along nicely.
I have terrible anxiety. I'm super impatient, I hate waiting for things. I'm always surprised how quickly its all coming together. When I heard that the project would take months to finish I was pretty bummed. I'm glad all of the updates seem to make it fly by.
The sheer joy on Joey's face when he wheeled that cart in! He's right, it IS the little things that can make such a difference. I know utility carts have made my life a lot easier while working at my job at the community center. A heck of a lot better than lugging half a dozen tool boxes by hand, that's for sure!
hey joey! I wonder whether you've thought of having a brackish set up in one of your 10 smaller tanks? It's a really underrepresented area of the hobby and would allow you to showcase some slightly more usual fish! It's personally my favourite type of aquarium and really doesn't get the recognition it needs. Loving what you're doing!
That Information about that light for the filter came on point for me, i've just built a pond in my garden and have an alge problem so i can't see the Koi inside and i was thinking about the light for the Filter but was worried about the "good" bacteria in the pond, but now u made it clean for me to get on :) (I'm so sorry about that bad english... I'm from germany...)
i totally get how you feel having the cart. I also have one in my garage. I'm in different factories everyday for work and I use carts all the time and don't think anything of it but there definitely something cool about having one at your house.
I'm a girl from Germany watching your videos for I while now. And I have to say, I'm nearly excited as you are🐠 Btw, I was happy to set up my new 10 gallon tank -it has been a big thing for me. Proud of myself😂 Greetings from Germany. Noch mehr von uns hier?:)
Is it me or was this later than usual? Concerned that Joey had fallen in the cement tank and couldn't climb out. Seriously though - I WAS getting worried that something had happened to Joey!
No worries as long as you're OK. Given all the work you are doing there's always opportunities for things to go sideways - as they say in the movie - "**it 'appens!" I'm guessing you'd have the approach of Python's "The Black Knight" even then though (Joey gets glued between acrylic panel and tank while examining quality - says "'tis but a scratch"). Keep up the great work bud!
Just an idea but you could run a track on the aquarium racks that you could attach a camera to for live streams of your aquariums..you could even automate it to move/slide at a slow pace along the track panning past the tanks back and forth along the entire line of the tanks..zero shake.nice and steady......better and safer than having a tripod in the middle of the floor.
Glass carry suction cups should work to help you move those panels with a safety catch on a chain. Either way please be very safe they may not look dangerous but it does not take much to loose a limb to those acrylic panels. If you do drill you could always setup carry handles in the holes!
Just an idea. What if you were to integrate a bench seat into your wall of tanks around where the outlet is behind the sheets leaning on the wall. Possibly could hide power cords in side a wooden bench same color as your flooring as well. Plus a great lower level view of your tank without having to lean over to peak inside you can sit back in an arch of tanks around you as you gaze into your big tank. Give it more of a gallery feel to sit back and admire your art.
This has got to be my only "can't wait for the next video to be out" channel. Really loving n looking forward to every updates on this aquarium gallery! By the way i feel it's best that you paint the outside of the concrete n the other aquarium stands dark brown in colour instead of black cos brown IMHO just makes the whole environment in the gallery have a more "cozy" feel to it.
I love the childlike giddy you had/have for the cart! I'm completely the same way with weird stuff like that! I was super excited when I discovered that I would need a Brute trashcan on wheels to do saltwater mixing for my SW tank.
So excited about that little cart :D I have a huge bucket that I have all my supplies in and it's awesome to just have everything at hand, so I can see how a cart would be exciting!
Joey! If you are worried about algae growth in the big tank then maybe consider building a DIY Macro Algae Reactor. For example, there are many designs for cheato reactors out there. This will allow you to do a few things. The first thing being help mitigate algae in the tank by controlling algae growth elsewhere to out-compete it for the nutrients. You could in theory use this alga once harvested as fish food if you wanted to. The second big reason is it will help stabilize PH, one of the reasons refugiums are usually run on a reverse light cycle from the tank. The third reason is probably the biggest for you; reducing the need for water changes. Since you are decreasing the nutrients in the tank you can go longer between water changes. Those nitrates and phosphates that are usually exported via water change is now being taken up by the controlled growth of algae in your reactor. Plus I kinda want to see you do an algae reactor as a project...
Joey, you can put a cement ledge on the inside of the panel cavity, flush with the outside of the tank, then you can insert the acrylic panel inside the cavity and the water pressure, along with a gasket, will keep it sealed. Just a suggestion, but either way love your videos. 😃
I remember you talking about how you wanted more variety in driftwood and decor for the wall. I've got access to a whole bunch of Ashe Juniper driftwood and various types of limestone and flint, I can ship if your interested.
Excellent work Joey, thanks for all the help and guidance over the years. I will also have to let go of this hobby for a year or maybe 3 as I am moving to a different country to start afresh. I will be watching your channel regularly though to keep the spirit alive.
The platform idea has a lot of advantages. I installed a platform behind the two displays on my 1600 gallon system. The advantage of maintenance is great but it also gives you another view of the display.
Joey, make that back part a waterfall, it'll look amazing, and the rocks could act has a natural filter, collecting small particals, but that could also put air in the tank, itll have alot of benefits
You might have to build some sort of bracing or temporary frame work on the bottom of the acrylic panel to help to elevate it, and once cured take the frame work out and place the sealant
Platform around tank. I think its a great idea for the two sides. You could build it to the height you want then use the space under the platform for additional storage or what ever.
Hi joe another great vid I am about to build my own plywood tank and I have download your plywood tank vids as they are so helpful keep the good work up got big support from Scotland UK
Hope you remembered to reduce the length of the side panel by the thickness (40mm) of the front panel if they go all the way to the corner. Cat walk is a good idea with removable planks to get to plumbing of course. Can't wait to see the finished product!
Hey Joey, just an idea I've had, I really feel with you going with a grey and black slick colour scheme maybe a black or grey faux blind would be a good idea. Would look neat and keep the sun light out as well. Just a idea. Many thanks, Gareth.
hey you should build a garden bed all along the side of the building along the walkway either flowers or vegetables, and use the water changed water to feed them. setting it all up with sprinkling system....better yet, sprinkler system in your yard!!!!
This fish house is going to put the aquarium hobby up a few notches! good job Joey! it will for sure make people want to be part of this awesome hobby!
put the stairs and platform in joey it will help you greatly, maybe go all the way around the back and have set of "trap doors" that go to the ball valves and essential pipes :)
I feel you about "the little things" lol, when I got my acclimation container they use in stores, I was so happy lol. I was probably more excited about that then I was about most things for my aquarium. Also, I always called the gallery the "Fish Mansion" lol, because it's so massive and it's more than just a room and I always call the tanks the fish houses, because that's pretty much what a fish tank is. So, fish mansion it was for me lol
I think your focus should not be so much to increase the amount of aquarium hobbyists, but to more so educate the people who just "have a fish tank" or "just a betta fish" or yes maybe want to keep fish at home. There is always a shortage of animals in the world now due to the existence of the human race. And there are so many people in the world who don't truly appreciate the nature and don't truly care about the fish that people keep in aquariums. People think that flushing a goldfish down a drain is such an insignificant thing, but I can see this gallery as being educational for fish keeping in general and increasing the appreciation of the little lives that swim around in our homes and the beauty of it.
Hey Joey! Dont worry about a pulling force once you get the silicone set, just leave the braces in until you put the water in. The water will push against it and keep it from falling back unless u run a truck into the front lol
You need to keep the copper lines for the heat pump sealed with tape or anything to keep as much moisture out as possible out. Expecially if it is a R410 system.
I'm one of your subscribers that has been inspired by you to get an aquarium and raise fish again! Interested in taking care of more aggressive and advance fish in the future :)
Another thing to consider with the wall of tanks is perhaps look at some of your more popular videos i.e. over flow, filters etc so we can see how things work long term. i.e. do you ever encounter problems with the overflows or with the filters, frequency of changing media etc.
I'm really looking forward to the stocking, not just for the 2100gal but the the 120s as well, they are a good size and with the amount you'll have, you will have a lot to play with and need some imagination. But I'm a monster fish fan so give us a hint on the stocking for the 2100gal. ;)
As I imagined what this wall of tanks will look like, I realized that you must have the best wife in the world to allow you to follow your hobby to this extent. Most wives would complain about one or two tanks! But I suppose it's not just a hobby at this point; It's a lifestyle!
I just came back from shrimp fishing and caught 30 giant tiger shrimp. I brought them home and realised some of them were still alive from the 30 min trip back home so I put a few in my marine tank. They were swimming around nicely but then I couldn't resist not eating them so I took them back out and put them in the fridge for tomorrow since its 3am here. Rip shrimp
Hi buddy as I know from working with concrete that for the 45 days curing time it should spray with water to activate the concrete hydration process which is make it stronger and more durable , I say that because you didn't mention it before .and as a DIY idea wet piece of clothing and put them on it to keep the cement wet
You have inspired me to setup a African rift lake cichlid tank. It's 90l and currently holds 4 fish and I love this hobbies it's so fun and interesting. And I'm 13
I would have set that window in the middle, And do a trim on each side so it can't move. Would have gave a really clean look and makes the cross wall stronger, Looking forward to see how you get around it!, Love the videos keep it up
Hey Joe My 2 Cents about the platform, I would make an 8 to 10" Box for all the piping to go into the other room with walking boards on top. This way you could walk on top of them and not trip over the pipes and it would give you a chase way. One other thing I have not heard you mention in any of the build videos is GFCI protection. With all the power and all the water exp the 2k tank I am hoping all the breakers in your panel are GFCI breakers ?? I would hate to see you get zapped. Not sure if your platform height would be good I am thinking is someone with kids came over they would be an easy way to fall in. I would play around with temp blocks to figure out a good height for you to work on the inside but be somewhat safer for little kids.
Hey Joey!!! First time chiming in. Loving the progress so far. Regarding the rack system, I think a colony of Frontosas would look cool in one of them. Any thoughts??
Hi joey loving this build you do know you don't need a waist on the aquarium with that filter when you turn the multiport valve to backwash the water comes out of the waist on the multiport valve I work in the Hoby and use the same type of filter
You're going to really like having the overhead sump to add to the mechanical filtration of your large tank. I've got a Ultima II 1000 on our 600 gallon FRT tank and it does a great job with the biological filtration, but it does lack a little on the mechanical filtration side of things. I will say, water changes and cleaning of the Ultima II can't be any easier with the backwash feature. I've paired my Ultima II with a Reeflo Gold pump. Great combo, IMHO.
Just so you know Joey, I used one your videos for a short writing assignment for school. (Had to pick a video and analyze presentation skills) Lol, professor loved it, and I got an A, so thanks Joey!
I think it'll be very cool if you use the security cameras to make a timelaps of your works and moves in the gallery itself, and then add that timelaps to the weekly videos :)
for your window's would look into either doing a LOW-E film on the glass or replacing it with a low-e glass that would cut back big time on what light come's through your window in a good way
Hey Joey your aquariums are looking amazing!! Quick question what camera are you using and what mic are you using? Your video is very crisp and I love it and would love to look at getting it for my channel
I have gone LIVE a few times in the gallery already on facebook. Follow me there as well if you haven't: facebook.com/UaruJoey
The king of DIY I'm curious, why are the inlet and outlet for your tank on the same side? Is it beneficial to have it that way?
The king of DIY finally..ive been waiting for your video from the time i woke up. because evry sunday i wake up you have already a posted video.
king diy do it fast I wanna see it do it
Do u live in U.K. I thought you lived in us
Jason Walter he lives in Canada
That acrylic is insane

Have you ever thought of a sliding pannel on the top on the big tank and a lid? easy and secure for you fish and besides it would be really cool!
So excited about that little cart :D I have a huge bucket that I have all my supplies in and it's awesome to just have everything at hand, so I can see how a cart would be exciting!

My hype for looking forward for Sunday is Joey's video, Thank you for the wonderful videos. >
This aquarium is one of the most amazing homemade aquariums I've ever seen, you truly do marvelous work
I remember you talking about how you wanted more variety in driftwood and decor for the wall. I've got access to a whole bunch of Ashe Juniper driftwood and various types of limestone and flint, I can ship if your interested.
It's looking good. I love using the water heater as an under aquarium heater.
Have you ever considered getting a puffer? They cost a TON to feed but they are fun and have diverse personalities
Loved the excitement over the utility cart lol it is the little things in life. Keep up the great work!
Excellent work Joey, thanks for all the help and guidance over the years. I will also have to let go of this hobby for a year or maybe 3 as I am moving to a different country to start afresh. I will be watching your channel regularly though to keep the spirit alive.

I think a water fall from the sump would look amazing against that back wall

looks great. I'm excited to see it complete and the grand tour. keep up the great work.
in other words, the acrylic was brought inside in the same way that stones for the great pyramids were moved.
+Zeze yup! I actually talked about that in the video but edited it out. I ramble too much.
guess we shal now refer to this as the great gallery of DIY also rambling isnt always bad lol
The Aquarium looks bullet proof. Literally.
+ram07ish it technically is.
Hey Joey, just an idea I've had, I really feel with you going with a grey and black slick colour scheme maybe a black or grey faux blind would be a good idea. Would look neat and keep the sun light out as well. Just a idea. Many thanks, Gareth.

Really enjoying these update videos to see the progress. Starting to really come together, awesome. Still... Can't wait to see it all finished!

The platform idea sounds great!
Looking good Joey!!! that's a public aquaria grade acrylic!!!
+MonsterFish MNL absolutely!!
I myself can't wait for the 3+ videos a week!
great job joey...love to see the progress....but i doubt those 2 lights wont be enough for those huge tanks to lit up....🙂🙂
You have really come so far in such a small amount of time! I really look forward to these videos now!
As I imagined what this wall of tanks will look like, I realized that you must have the best wife in the world to allow you to follow your hobby to this extent. Most wives would complain about one or two tanks! But I suppose it's not just a hobby at this point; It's a lifestyle!
If your wife or SO is telling you how to live YOUR life you're in the wrong relationship.
Rip shrimp
He's so excited about a utility cart- adorable
Hi buddy as I know from working with concrete that for the 45 days curing time it should spray with water to activate the concrete hydration process which is make it stronger and more durable , I say that because you didn't mention it before .and as a DIY idea wet piece of clothing and put them on it to keep the cement wet
Looking great Joey!!! Wouldn't mind a flowerhorn update lol....
OMG AMAZING AQUARIUM
Getting real now!
I should be studying.... anybody else?
yep, I have two midterms this Wednesday.
Iroquois Pliskin Good luck 👌🏼
Oh don't worry, I take my education very serious but Joey is my weakness.
Mimi P. Me 2 lmao
Me
If you have not already hooked up the line set for the heat pump make sure to use nylog sealant. It will save you a headache down the road with leaks.
Love the utility cart! I just got one a couple months ago. Super useful
I pray that you're preparing for a before and after video when everything is done, because man this is awesome!
You have inspired me to setup a African rift lake cichlid tank. It's 90l and currently holds 4 fish and I love this hobbies it's so fun and interesting. And I'm 13
I would have set that window in the middle, And do a trim on each side so it can't move. Would have gave a really clean look and makes the cross wall stronger, Looking forward to see how you get around it!, Love the videos keep it up
Get any water on that laminate and it'll mushroom. Tile is the way to go. They even got nice "wood look" tile. So jealous BTW. Keep up the good work.
Sometimes the little things matter the most! Awesome utility cart! 😂
Just discovered your channel a few weeks ago. Loving this content! What is this massive aquarium for? Stingrays?
Hi joey loving this build you do know you don't need a waist on the aquarium with that filter when you turn the multiport valve to backwash the water comes out of the waist on the multiport valve I work in the Hoby and use the same type of filter
Wow, I am watching the video and looked into the subs and it shows exactly 400K :) !!!
CONGRATS JOEY!!!!
love the idea of the stairs and platform
+morneseirei no way! Congrats!! Would love to see what you did!
It's a work of art, Joey. Honestly. Amazing work.
Hey joey another great update ! I'm looking forward to the racking system can wait to see the amount of depth you go into with theming !
