    Brands like Lisa Says Gah are the reason people still support and buy from Shein. Why buy a $150 sweater when you can get basically the same thing made of the same material for $10?

      lisa says gah is very suspicious to me. i looked it up briefly bc of this comment and it says that it’s “ethically sourced” and they care about where they get things from and make a real show about choosing places that are “ethical”. i think this is why they make the garments more expensive. they also claim they prioritize “natural” and recycled materials. however, looking in their brand on the website “good on you” (perhaps not the most reliable, but a quick way to look at things), it says that they say this but have very little sources as to where they make the clothes or get the materials from (most of it is final stage of production), nor does it have a code of conduct, or evidence that the workers are given a living wage on the supply chain. i know plenty of brands such as h&m and american eagle do the same thing, claim they are doing all this for the world, but have no evidence to back it up. performative just so they can bring up the price. allegedly.

      About Levi’s overalls but honestly there’s a gender divide in quality there. Obviously vintage is best, but if buying new it’s worth it to go in the men’s section for overall (heh) better quality.

    For the fuzzy jacket: polyester will form clumps over time, because it’s literally plastic that will melt with too much heat or stick together from too much friction (for example in the wash). It will probably be super soft and fluffy when you first get it, but it will probably not be durable and start to lose it’s charm very quickly…

      I have a faux fur coat from Mango and it still looks as good as new. It shedded a bit when new but that happenes normally. I also think I paid for it like 50 euros or so on sale. If you follow the care label instead of the american way of doing things it should last a long time. I mostly wear fast fashion as I don't have the money to afford better. And I wear my pieces until they fall apart after a few years. How do I do it? Mom does the laundry usually but we wash clothes separately based off colour, we hang clothes to dry or in case of delicate pieces (usually my handmade wool pants etc) I hand wash them, place the items between two towels, roll them to get as much water out and lay them flat to dry so they don't loose shape. And they still look amazing as new. It's not a science making clothing last and if they fall apart so quickly it's probably that the owner doesn't take good care of them. Going back to my faux fur coat I don't wear it as much as it doesn't get as cold in Genova anymore and when I visit my dad I usually wear a puffer jacket in case it rains or snowes. But I still love it.

    • @tsuki3752
      @tsuki3752 6 месяцев назад

      @@nikitatavernitilitvynova what kind of faux fur is it trying to imitate? because the commenter is talking about sherpa specifically, which many brands will even have the clumping happen while the garment is still in the store. i’m glad you are able to keep it for a long time, and if that’s what you’re able to afford then good on you (and giving tips to others), but aside from avoiding clumping, there is still other reasons to buy actual fur than faux fur. microplastics, longevity, breathability, maybe others i can’t think of rn lol. you may have been able to keep it well maintained over the past couple of years, but who is to say where it’ll be in 10… 20… 60 years even. real fur can withstand decades, if taken care of properly like you do with your jacket. again, no hate to you for buying faux fur, but you cannot say that “just taking care of it properly” will be a way to replace real fur. but i’m glad you have been able to lengthen the product’s lifespan than what it usually has, since most people’s sherpa garments look like trash in a year or less. i don’t know if your jacket is trying to imitate another kind of fur, though, so i don’t know how long other kinds of faux fur garments are supposed to last.

      @@tsuki3752 I wasn't talking about sherpa but rather the faux fur you mostly see on coats that looks like actual hairs. It now dawned on me op was probably referring to sherpa. And I agree on that one. I have a sherpa set on that doesn't look that great but I don't care as I only wear it around the house anyways.

    I'll be honest, I love Levi's and I love my denim overalls (the same you asked about). I was able to find them being resold on depop, and the seller didn't tell me it was nwt so that was awesome. I watched a video yesterday that explained that recycled polyester fabric is mostly made from recycled plastic bottles - which means after it's turned into clothes it can no longer be recycled, and often ends up in landfill.
    It shook me because I assumed it was old clothes being turned into new clothes. I don't think recycled polyester is a sustainable option, even if it has been marketed as such.
    Quick note - if you like boxers but don't like the opening, can I suggest sewing down the flap?

    • @nikitatavernitilitvynova
      @nikitatavernitilitvynova 6 месяцев назад +1

      Depends. Some brands do take old polyester clothes and turn them into new fabrics. Also it's an incredibly durable fabric that has its place in the fashion industry (it was created as a non iron fabric so it's realistically the only fabric you can use to create accordion/pleated fabrics). As long as one takes good care of their clothes they should last an incredibly long time.

    Anything made from synthetic fibres (such as acrylic, nylon, polyurithane [PU] or polyester) is unsustainable, even if it's recycled fibres, or blended with natural fibres. Yes, recycled polyester is better than virgin, but it's still plastic.
    Sadly, very difficult to avoid, particularly when it comes to knits, anything with a comfy stretch, and underwear, due to the elastics.

Mainly at the corners of the back pockets, but occasionally along a seam somewhere. I have a couple different pairs that have this issue. It seems like whatever process they subject the fabric to to achieve the wash is seriously compromising the integrity of the fabric, making it prone to pulling apart in high-tension areas where there's stitching. Definitely not all Agolde jeans do this, but I have at least two different pairs that have this issue.

    I NEVER buy new denim but I got a pair of Levi's Ribcage Bells last Black Friday and they're great - good fit and sturdy. This was a direct recommendation from a friend though, so I got to see the jeans and ask her opinions about them in person.
    That being said, there is a TON of nice quality denim in thrift stores and online secondhand markets. It's worth being picky and waiting to find a pair that you really love. ❣

    I've ordered Selkie from Lisa Says Gah because Selkie does this thing where some of their items are only available on 3rd party shops. I got the Fraise skirt from there 100% cotton and on sale so it's may be worth checking the site for things that are not LSG brand.

Because they are designed for different terrains like rock, mud, grass etc. They are made to be able to withstand different grounds so they are super comfy in my opinion even on pavement! They are super versatile

    I'm interested in trying Agolde jeans, but honestly I would not buy them unless they're on a massive sale or sold second hand for much less than the original price. Buying jeans online is difficult enough and those things are p r i c e y!

    Not sure if it’s because I’m in Europe but I’ve tried on some Levi’s that were great quality! The difference is that in the women’s section they tend to have a number with elastic in the denim which is terrible, unsustainable & fast wearing, however the solid cotton ones are great!
    My husband also has like 3-4 pairs from them ranging from ten years old to less than one and loves them all, ofc none are stretch denim.
    Also re the Prada loafers, also obsessed. I do have a cream coloured super cheapo pair that are two years old and still comfy and cute so I think they’re not as hard to make well as all that!

    If anyone is looking for comfortable wide legged jeans/baggy jeans that are high waisted and fit really well on the stomach hands down the best are the style called Claire by Tommy Jeans. I own one pair I got last year on sale for 50% off. I might get another pair maybe even on their site (I know my size as I got the other ones in store) when they go on sale. They retail for about 110 euros but on sale I got mine for around 50 euros. And they look as good as new except the bottom is all distressed because I like the puddle jean look and I got these in a 32" inseam. I'm not sure but I believe their brand is also stustainable too.

    Advice for people wanting designer items but can’t afford - go to the store and try it on. You might find you actually don’t even like how it looks on you. I went to the Prada store in Vegas to try on the loafers(knowing full well I wasn’t going to buy regardless) and they just didn’t look as great as they thought I would (on me). In fact I would venture to say most trends or items we covet likely wouldn’t bring as much joy as you think it would! Either they don’t go with our personal style or just don’t look right.

    I have been looking for a good pair of overalls for literally over a year and I still haven't found any. I've looked in thrift stores, winners, old navy, and even fast fashion brands but I can't find any in store for the life of me. And i'm not even talking a good pair, there are NONE. (I won't buy them online because for me it's very important to try them on to see the fit before buying them.)
    Also, as somebody who has to wear loafers as part of my school uniform everyday, I absolutely hate the look of every single loafer i'm sorry 😭 The ones I have were pretty cheap though, so maybe that's why they look bad. Loafers that have a little bit of a heel look a bit better to me but they really don't aline with my personal style. If you like the look and know how to style them correctly then go for it though lol

    I literally hate all jeans that are not Levis. They are the only jeans that feel right, and fair right, and they never make a bad model. I have purchased much more expensive jeans, and never wear them, because the Levi's end up being better. They know jeans. And those overalls look absolutely perfect, I have node what this lady is all about. Maybe you got the cheap ones. It sounds like it, because the premium Levis cost more then 80 dollars.

    I own two pairs of vintage Levi's 501s (straight leg cut) and they're probably my favourite pieces in my closet. My first pair was my mum's from the 90's and it's incredibly comfortable, yet still thick and well-made. A few weeks ago, I thrifted another pair for only 20€ in a lighter wash too. Unlike many other denim brands, Levi's seems to pay attention to small, but important details. For example, the angling of the pockets, the fly not being exposed or bunching up, when I sit down and the inseam being just right. However, I have never bought anything new from them or even stepped foot into their stores, so it is possible that like many other brands, they have faced a quality decline.
