I started watching you in 2014-15. I remember New Year’s Day of 2015 I messaged you for a First to Five Dudley mirror match and you literally made my entire year. I was 16 at the time I’m 24 now. I got my ass KICKED but it was amazing to play against the person who got you into the game and the character you love 🙏🏽👍🏽
Either ‘14 or ‘15 after basic training, team, and my first deployment. I went back home for the first time and hung out with my boys that I used to play with. Back in hs I used to body my friends with Dudley. I was the only one getting FADC’s consistently, I had basic rose setups, but LSS, I hadn’t played since i graduated and moved, they caught up, and was dragging me through the mud, and my boi Malcolm suggested looking Up SmugglesPHD to get my Dudley up (like i was anywhere near that level 😆), but I did and saw this fighter with the immaculate flat top that had mastered the turksui no neckbone, so i had to watch and try to learn.
I found you because I consider Dudley my 3s main, and I love characters that have fun combo sequences/mixes.
Its mind-blowing seeing him played on another level so I have deep respect for your ability to read/execute.
I saw Yogaflame's compilations years ago and thought "holy shit this Dudley is incredible". Been a fan ever since.
Compilations about FGC moments, i didn't even play fg that much, but when i was seeing the video, people always seems very salty, very tense in the tournaments in general

I'm glad you asked; I had just been thinking about this a few weeks ago.
I actually remember it pretty clearly, now that I think about it. I believe it was 2018, and I had been watching Rage compilations; people losing and being salty in tournaments. That's where I found the antagonist of our little story. You know him, you love to make fun of him: LowTierGod.
Sometime after watching that video, another one involving him came around to my recommended, only this time he was playing with somebody else. And that somebody... was the Mayor of Duff City.
From there, I went on to watch more and more videos with you, loving every minute. Your magnificent combos, your sense of humor, _and_ you play boxing characters, which I love.

Been a gamer for over 4 decades and I'm a Boxer. I've always loved Balrog and you were the first player I saw to master him and straight WRECK other players with him. The fact that you've mastered Dudley just puts you over the top in my book. He needs to be in SF6.
When I first started watching Smug, he was talking about turkey neck bones and Cambodian breast milk, and he was playing Dudley in SF4. I think one of the first matches I saw of his, he was wearing a huge Boondocks Huey chain. Been watchin' ever since.
I just got SFV and was looking into Balrog. Then I was hooked with the GREATEST OF EASE!
I started playing sfv in 2020, but I couldn’t play that often but I came across you Brian and Punk at the same time and it was an amazing experience. The way you guys dominate the game always had me watching EVERY video to see if I could learn anything. Pure HYPE.

To answer your question, I saw you first in the video where you washed Sonicfox 35-1. What impressed me was not the wiggidy wash but the fact that you didn't humor that man's request to call him "they". I thought to myself, that man has integrity and is entertaining and subscribed that day.
I think I might've seen you in some SFIV set a wayyys back but I just subbed this year because of your editing and attitude, the hype around SF6.
I first heard about you a couple years ago from a fighting game tournament on RUclips, most likely with IFCYipes doing commentary. One of your videos popped up in my recommended videos and you said “exe-ma-cution” and I was fan immediately afterwards.
Clips of your SF4 Dudley back on the BEASTs channel. That was during my SF4 phase where I growing into the culture of the FGC. Saw your youtube recommended to me sometime later and said "how can I not take that subscribe button to duff city" haven't regret it since.

I saw this dude taking people to duff city with Dudley, one of my favorite characters, and I was like, "I wanna know this guy."
And the rest is history.
I knew smug from watching random videos at pro events but stayed for his comeuppance and transition into a threat at high level.

First time I heard about Smug was... like early SFV timeline. Think it was when Balrog was released. People were comparing him to a hammerhead shark back then, real disrespectful, lol.

The classic Smug vs Poongko and others USF4 games are how I got to know the FGC, and I found out smug had an actual channel way before all the subs came in.

I found you from your appearances on YogaFlame24's channel like a billion years ago.. It would have been 2011 or 2012. Your Dudley is what made me want to pick up SF4, which was my first fighting game since SF2 and Killer Instinct on the SNES, and I refused to learn any other character for the longest time because I was so dead-set on learning the game with Dudley, despite him not being a particularly newbie-friendly character. No regrets though. Basically, you got me into fighting games in general, so thank you for that, lol

Seeing you going against punk in one of ya videos using Balrog is where it begun but I stuck around because you started using G. The set ups when using G are on point.

To answer your question: I discovered you along with basically the entire scene new and old back in Street Fighter 4 days probably about 2012. The first video I saw you had lost and everyone was saying "Here we see the difference in a tournament player and a really good online player." but look at you now. You are a tournament player that everyone knows for your unmatched Dudley combo execution. It's been a lot of years with many new faces and eras.
I think I started getting recommended your videos around the G era. And I remember seeing u play in NLBC streams. I could not believe the PS4 messages people sent to you.

I found you in the SFV era in like 2018 after watching some of the LowTierGod videos on my feed. After that I basically started getting recommended more SFV videos, and that’s how I found you and later Punk. I’d say you (Smug) and Punk are my favorite SFV FGC players. I was so upset seeing Punk lose that Luke mirror in that tournament.
