A Havening Guided Meditation to Reduce Health Anxiety with Dr. Kate Truitt

  • Dr. Kate Truitt leads a guided meditation about navigating concerns about health and wellness. Once she guides us into a tranquil state of synergy between our body and mind, she asks us to notice the parts of us that are feeling uncertain.
    In times of distress, Dr. Kate informs us that it is a very normal human response to overestimate danger and underestimate our ability to respond. Our brain and our body tend to overextend caution in order to keep us safe, out of love.
    As we slowly deepen our breath, Dr. Kate asks our anxiety parts to take a step back. Thus, we are able to feel a sense of release. Once we have identified where we feel worry, we are able to better our relationship with it.
    Our anxiety is our mind and body looking out for us, and Dr. Kate asks us to thank it for all that it does to keep us healthy and safe.

    i often have quite a bit of anxiety and stress built up in daily life.. and a few months ago it got so bad i had to go to the ER for what i thought was a heart attack.. turns out they did every test on my heart that they could and apparently it's 100% fine and healthy. apparently it's likely just extreme anxiety.
    the anxiety also got worse due to believing deep down I'm having heart issues, when in reality it's just anxiety (also I'm just graduated from grade school so it really is unlikely I'd get heart problems any time soon)
    it's months later and im still getting stressed from it.
    i did this meditation.. figured out, it's mostly my arm muscles that hurt. i think im overworking my left arm (my dominant arm) and flexing subconsciously from stress of potential heart issues, making myself believe im having them.
    after the meditation, it's only my arm that's hurting and sore. so i think that muscles overworked, but it's nothing to do with my heart. Just likely feels like it bc the arm's so close to it that the feelings can be easy to confuse. but yeahh. im just flexing my muscles whenever i stress about it, making the pain worse.
    (dw ive seen enough ER doctors, other doctors, and used enough bloodpressure machines to know nothings actually wrong. i seriously just have always had anxiety, and it can play tricks on you.)

    • @DrKateTruitt
      @DrKateTruitt  2 месяца назад +1

      Thank you for sharing your experience. It's incredible how our minds and bodies are so deeply connected, and anxiety can indeed manifest in physical ways. It's great that you've found some clarity through meditation, recognizing that the discomfort in your arm is likely due to muscle tension rather than a heart issue. This awareness is a powerful step towards managing your anxiety.
      Remember, it's okay to seek support and use tools like meditation to help soothe your mind and body. You're doing an amazing job by listening to your body and understanding its signals. Sending you much warmth, strength and healing ❤️❤️‍🩹❤️

    I was just told by my therapist not to use the words “what if” because that completely negates the whole concept of mindfulness as you are now thinking of the future and not the here and now, and it made perfect sense. Yet I heard just those words in this meditation… why?

      Instead of giving such suggestions just find another channel that will please you, don't try to change the others and their ways to do things just because you don't like something.
