- A professor confiscates the phone of a student who is texting in class. He snaps the phone in two and throws it into a water glass. He then proceeds with his lesson as if nothing has happened. After a minute or so, the clearly perturbed student packs up and walks out of the room.
This classroom looks so depressing no wonder no one wants to be there.

Seriously, you don't even need to like math to enjoy his videos, he is so awesome and has such a likeable personality that it's a joy just to listen to him - in fact, he is so good at explaining things and making them interesting that you might even end up inadvertently learning from his videos.
He is the perfect example of a good teacher in EVERY way.
It's probably one of those stupid, miserably, boring and useless Gen Ed classes that everyone has to take to get their degrees. It looks like something horrible like Sociology or something. God I hated that class. It was 100x worst than the useless
Pre Calculus class I had to take too.
It looks truly miserable. Everyone in the class looks like zombies hunched over and half awake.
Some people have a totally unrealistic notion of education. 90% of what you learn will be learned by sitting alone in a room with a book or computer. The teacher is not there to entertain you, but primarily to point out the resources you need to educate yourself, and help you when you get stuck, or don't understand something after repeated and prolonged personal effort.

This is just childish. I teach in the college and there is only one rule for my students: "Do whatever the hell you want to do but do not distract the others or the flow of the training". I literally tell my students "feel free to sleep as long as you are not snoring!".

I've been an adjunct professor for over 13 years and this is some of the most unprofessional behavior I've ever seen. Students, if a professor does this to you or your personal property you go and report them to the department chair in person. You have the right to do that and file a formal complaint with the dean as well.

1) if he has a strict policy, he should have told the students, including the punishment for violating such policy.
His policy should be approved by the school, including the punishment. A teacher cannot have a policy that goes against the law and damaging private property is against the law

Had a professor in college who was an absolute luddite (she also looked like she was a product of the 1950s), her policy was no electronic devices whatsoever, if you wanted to type notes, you could bring in a mechanical typewriter. Said all this right as I'd pulled out my laptop, so I simply ignored her for the next five minutes as she proceeded to bitch about me using the laptop. I'd logged onto the school's enrollment site and dropped the class right then and there, and enrolled in an equivalent class later that day with a different professor. Then I told her, as I packed up the laptop, and left.
Found out a week later the class had been canceled from nearly everybody else dropping the class after that. Best part: that professor was an adjunct.

He's monotone, he's clearly reading directly off the textbook, his classroom looks beyond depressing. How can you possibly enforce a "no cell phone" policy and proceed to offer basically nothing in supplement of that entertainment-wise. No substance to the lecture.
They can read the book at home. You're providing no reason to be there, thus it's unreasonable to expect them to pay much attention.

You cannot effectively learn if the teacher is not properly engaging you. Especially if you're an adolescent that is very easily distracted due to the fact that your brain hasn't fully formed at that point.
The other students may look like they're paying attention but that doesn't mean they're absorbing anything. They're probably just afraid to look like anything else because their teacher is clearly a domineering incompetent who should lose his job.

The professor needs to learn a lesson. Sure Texting should not be tolerated and the student should be asked to leave. That's a given. The student should have gotten up taken the glasses off he professors face and broke them in two. Then put them in the same glass of water to see how the professor feels. I am sure he would have learnt his lesson. Just remember that just because you have taken a few courses that does not make you better then others and it does not give you the right to destroy other peoples things. I learnt that when I was in kindergarten .

My Mom went to a school where they didn't care about you doing things like that as long as you got your work done. I think it's better that way(of course there should be a few exceptions) since people learn and apply themselves better when in a relaxed setting. They're slowly cutting out things in the yearly standardized tests for this very reason.

Rational Thinker look around the room and look at what the teacher does when the student leaves, he didn’t say a single thing. Every teacher will stop the student and ask them why they are getting up without permission and this video didn’t show any of that.
