V70 colour is the Saffron a rare it’s so good in today’s age it looks like an aftermarket colour R engine is just amazing drive a real one to learn how to master
I'd have the Corolla. I had a 2005 model up until last year. I only sold it because I wanted something that did better mpg. It was absolutely rock solid, built like a wrecking ball and as smooth as silk. Legendary cars.
Thanks for featuring my 1998 Nissan Maxima QX! It is, as you say a lovely big cruiser. But not on the original 15” wheels that were on it when I bought it last year.
Hello from New Zealand. You have recorded this car display well. Many different makes and models. I like the red Renault 4, and the Austin Allegro. The Austin and Morris cars were assembled here in NZ in car plants. The Morris Marinas sold very well and so did the Austin Maxi's too. From Carl.
@tubeducky wow that sound right up my street, I would love to do a drive and review on that! I once had a 21 Monaco and a friend had a 25 Monaco.... lovely!
Wow! My first car was a K reg Marina in 1980 & i loved it! CB radio fitted on a slide mount i could whip out & swap for a cassette player with built in graphic equaliser 🤣. It also had a 8' aerial on the wing with a red bulb on top which lit up when i keyed my mike 🤣. Luckily i did grow up & drove a Granada 2.3 LX which I miss ! Should never have sold that baby 👌😍
I had a t5 Volvo, great car to deceive young hot hatch drivers. I had a granddad on board sticker just for the fun of it lol. Best old car was the Lancia Delta Thema turbo which was another nice sleeper.
I had a Granada 2.8 ghia x. Lovely to take on a long drive but I went to a Granada 2.9 ghia but it was a manual, an absolute beast of a car. To be fair, I past my test in 88 and because of my financial situation I went through most of the Ford’s but my first daily was a mk3 Escort van. But I most of had most but the most desirable was a 1.6 sierra 2 door with the large back window but of course I had the cosworth front grill. Great tour around some nice and some not so nice cars. 👍
That Renault 4 really looks mint! Especially for a car of its caliber... It was meant to be as rudimentary and practical as it gets so most got driven to their death. The early ones had an 850cc engine, this one is an 1,1 liter. The shifter is just a regular H pattern but runs through the firewall and over the engine. The engine-gearbox layout is a bit weird as the engine longitudional with the gearbox in front of it, right behind the front bumper
The mi16 was the wheeler dealers car its stunning,,, is it only cars older than 2000 allowed as would love to bring my rare 1 of 400 official uk citroen c4 loeb but its a 2008
Renault 4 would have an 850cc(ish) engine. My dad had a couple, very practical - you could get a pig or sheep in the back with the seats down, and just hose it out afterwards. Cruising speed was 50mphish. Rust was a problem as they were made from tin foil. My parents used to take us up to the isle of Lewis in ours every year, all the way from Lincolnshire, with the seats down and my sister and I on blankets on top of the luggage. Health and safety 1970s style 😊 Oh, and they weren't column shift, the gear lever went through the dashboard but was a sort of H shift.
7:34 I don't know why people put over-retro plates on their car. Silver-on-black plates stopped by 1973 and many cars weren't issued with them well before that, so this 1990 Volvo looks odd on the wrong plate colours.
Seems to be that if your vehicle is registered before 1 January 1980, you can use them (that Volvo isn't) but even the UK Government disnae ken, with its most recent advice (from 2015 saying 1975!)
10:39 There was an injected version of this 2.8 Ghia X. It had the same style wheels but were slightly larger and had metric-sized tyres, Michelin TRXs, which are either very expensive or impossible to buy now. (About £330 each on Black Circles)
I had an R reg Polo like that with retractable sunroof as my second ever car. Great car. Did about 70,000 fairly trouble free miles in that. Just wheel bearings and some electrical issues
Had several 2.8 ghia granny’s and 2.3 ghia cortina with sunroofs and 3 spd slushy auto. Nicest cars ever owned. The cortina could kick its heels if asked.
Stumbled upon this. Brilliant to see all these cars, like walking out of a Time Machine. Cars now are bland and boring. Nice to see this. You’ve earned another sub 👌
So glad to see the big HYUNDAI! I also only saw them advertised, but not on the road. I don't think they imported too many. Firms often don't, in markets saturated with makes. But I must take issue with you, regarding the looks. Perhaps a bit non descript - compared to their other better known models! But I actually like it, nonetheless. Hundai is my favourite make. I've liked everything they've done! Unusually, I really don't seem to have a gene, for SPORT. But that's the way it is! World Cup? No thanks. I myself prefer a CUP - of TEA! However, when I heard Hyundai have been rallying, and winning, I got as excited as more conventional people do, when their team scores at FOOTBALL!
I don’t think the talbot is a five speed. I could be wrong but I remember my parents one being a four speed. The Lada should definitely be in the video as you were going to retroSHITE It’s a shame that you didn’t review the Nova gsi that was in the background. Great video keep it up oh and the Morris Marina my dad had those too plus Allegros. Don’t bother driving them they were bloody terrible 😂
Peugeot 405 mi16 stunning classic an were super cool an everyone wanted one back in early nineties, unfortunately for me wasn't driving age so could only dream lol 👌👍🏴
The MI16 definitely the best car there. Closely followed by the blue Tom Cat. I had the pleasure of test driving the MI16 back in the 80's. Fukinell that car was like a go kart. Handled like it was on rails. It was ruddy rapid too. I scared the seller shitless lol. Did I buy it? No. Why? Because I plumbed for The ultimate Audi UR Quattro.
I owned a Lada Riva in the 80's, it was the cause of my bad back, the steering is so heavy I slipped a disc ! Better go to the gym before driving it 🤣 Mine had a 1200 engine.
Hi Great video ...... at 13.56 mins.......... an elderly couple where i live own a Hyundi ........(same colour).....V6 auto ............and it is FAST FAST FAST !!!!!!!!!!! 🙂. . I stop and chat to the elderly lady about the car but it stays in the garage a lot 🙂 . Wow it,s fast...lol ..........(Mitzubushi running gear)
11:55… in answer to your question; yes, they were two tone paintwork from the factory. But, that’s not the big surprise with that particular model… it also had air con from the factory as standard!
13:00 in this video.... Vauxhall Corsa 1.0 LITRE with some GSI badges "Stuck" on it and the alloy wheels from a GSI .... Nice try..but I spotted it was a FAKE GSI straight away.... Sure it looks the part .. But it did not fool me.
Mi16 are stupid rare in the UK these days. Less than 10 still used on the road for the last five years. There's more road registered Ferrari Monza SP2 in the UK than these Peugeots LOL
@RetroRatchet lots were exported back to Russia. I helped a Lithuanian mate buy around 70 from throughout the Highlands and Aberdeenshire. Some were good, some were bloody awful (including the Riva with the wings only kept from falling apart by the mud that had collected inside, and the Samara whose door fell off). Think youngest Riva we had was L plate - they lost so much value.
There was some good old cars there and some right terrible ones the pug 405 mi16 is a rare one now and nice but im a ford person my self saveing up to get a project mk1 fiesta mk3 escort or capri but would have a vauxhall chevette any retro ford is silly money but good turn out 👍
When you try to film inside the cars it doesnt really work. Would say the majority of cars there are shit, but there are some nice ones. The 240 and T5 were very nice.
props to everyone who keeps them on the road. pleasure to see them.
what a great show of cars! memories came flooding back
I didn't realise these were held every month, i'll have to pop through to Dunfermline for the next one. Cheers, for the walkaround
yes mate - there are also sometimes Fri evening ones at Kinross
V70 colour is the Saffron a rare it’s so good in today’s age it looks like an aftermarket colour

If I ever move back to the UK I'll come down in my Trabant 1.1. Some lovely cars there.

@stuartdalgarno2524 more than happy to do a proper review on it if you like, 👍🏻 i like how rare these are, would definitely make a good feature.
Very interesting great retro Cars 80’s & 90’s

Thanks for showing my 240 (on show plates) . Unrestored so its not mint but a nice survivor. Also my 940 next to it and my mates renault 4.👍
no worries at all, if you would ever like it featured on the channel, please reach out!
A field full of people who are REALLY saving the planet…….as opposed to Mr Woke who gets rid of his EV after 3 years.
Best comment I have seen for a long time.
Had no idea of these meets. Need to pop along in my ancient beige Laguna!
Sounds interesting, mk1? What engine/spec?
@@RetroRatchet Mk1 3.0 V6 Monaco. Unicorn rare these days 😁

Hello mate, yeah it was really nice that pug.
Defo wont get in if its 2008 unfortunately.
Im happy to do a drive/review on it if u like mate?

the Volvo V70 in saffron metallic was my favourite but did prefer the 850R saloon manual that i had years ago!

I don't know why people put over-retro plates on their car. Silver-on-black plates stopped by 1973 and many cars weren't issued with them well before that, so this 1990 Volvo looks odd on the wrong plate colours.
yeah fair point mate
I agree with you. I’ve got 4 tax exempt motorcycles from the mid 70’s & they look wrong with black & white plates. Yellow & black for me.
Seems to be that if your vehicle is registered before 1 January 1980, you can use them (that Volvo isn't) but even the UK Government disnae ken, with its most recent advice (from 2015 saying 1975!)
Well that’s another one of life’s great mysteries I don’t think we will ever find out
That 405 took my breath away.
See what you did there 😉
Underrated comment 👆 Your like button should be going from strength to strength.
lol… you have to be of a certain age to get that gag!
It might have been the one that was on wheeler dealers which was purchased by a car raffle company.
YES YES would love to see the LADA I own one me self 1500 lovely car 🚗🚗🚨
Those Volvo 240's wouldn't look the same without the almost obligatory roof rack from back in the day.
Awesome vlog, some nice cars there 😀
Thank you 👍
I had a 2000e in magenta many moons ago, full cosworth kit looked the part. Great car.
yeah, seem to be quite rare now

the dreaded metrics! I remember them from the Metro's

That Polo is 28 years old.
Looks mint and still quite modern.
yeah hard to believe their age!

that is the wheeler dealer car from portugal i watched the episode and same reg as well
Some GREAT cars here.
My mate had a Mk2 Granada 2.0 i drove it to hull n back , top cruiser well comfy, mint to drive
Lovely MI 16
The colour name for the gold Volvo is “saffron pearl”. I had a near identical car 10 years ago although mine was a manual. A very rapid car!!
manual the one to have!
Stumbled upon this.
Brilliant to see all these cars, like walking out of a Time Machine.

same here. Used to watch Hubnut till it turned into the family channel, glad i found this!

Had a citroen bx gti 16v on a 90 plate same engine surprised some people
I love the lada, I had one , want another one
No passenger side mirror but BL shipped the Alegro and most other BL cars with rust as standard 😂
They might be retro shite but they still look a lot better than todays designs .
What's going on with the Marina's wheels?! One side look standard, the other side like they are off a minor!?

That engine in a 205 !!!! 🙈

Ford left the _Ghia_ badges on the 2000E (front wings).
It was, essentially, a _Ghia_ with leather seats a bit of wood and special paint.
ah really - I did wonder why they were on their! quite cool tho!
I got a few 90’s rides ranging from sunny zx to samba cabriolet….. if you want to review…..
Hi Jason, absolutely - can you reach out on email please: retroratchet31@gmail.com
The red R4 Gtl, 1108cc with a staggering 34Hp.
Driving one is a bit as driving a 2cv. Body roll is substantially 😂
Didn't the gearlever come straight out the dash, rather than being a column change on these?
I owned a Lada Riva in the 80's, it was the cause of my bad back, the steering is so heavy I slipped a disc ! Better go to the gym before driving it 🤣 Mine had a 1200 engine.
If you ever wanna know what communism smells like , smell the inside of a Lada Riva
ah really, lol, ill bare that in mind!!
I bought a Renault 4 for £50 in the early 70,s drove it to Munich no probs , nice suspension sold it a year later for £40 👍

I really need to get my finger out and get the Mi16 back in roadworthy condition again
May as well save it is not many left
Will you be attending the next one this month? I missed it and didn't bring my Reliant.
No mate, wont be able to make that one unfortunately
Where will the next one be? Interested to attend if its a nice day
hi, these are always same location at vintage bus museum, check out retroshite fb page for dates and times
It’s freaking me out a little to see a 1998 ‘R’ reg car being considered as ‘old and near classic’. How old do I feel now?!?!
retroshite 😂 Us Scots like to say it as it is lol
ahaha absolutely
I always pronounced them al-leg-grow..... Have I been wrong all these years....mind blown lol

I was hoping you would zone in on the silver Mazda 323F alongside the Toyota Sprinter.. Unfortunately not...
The v6?
@@RetroRatchet If it was a ZXi or GT.. Then yes..
Was that a Clan Crusader beside the Granada at about 12 and a half mins? .. very yellow and wedgy!
That’s a Sierra @12:39 but not sure what the yellow car is.
Yup, looks like a Crusader, heaven knows what help the Nascar rear wing is!
