Great Monday discussion Randy. In addition to taking care of ourselves physically as we age, we also need to equally focus on taking care of ourselves relationally, financially, vocationally, and spiritually. As the years pass, there’s a clear quality of life difference between just existing and living really well. Your older self will always thank you…
Excellent topic. One lesson my dad really drove home to me about being happy in life was to live within your means. Do not play that game of “keeping up with the Jones!” Growing up, my dad had us thinking we were one step away from the poor house. It made us work and save our money. Little dud we know that was far from the truth. But we grew up working and not expecting free stuff. Now my dad is gone and I am passing along all the ideas and training to my son that has worked for generations in my family. Money is probably THE biggest stressed in our lives. Living within your means will enable you to enjoy your later years without that worry. One more point…..find yourself a good church too. Even more important than money or any other item in our lives, is your personal relationship with God. Don’t let that fall into a state of disrepair…….
I have one other thing to say , I just got my gifts from mr Randy and I got a ton of megabass baits that I love and my Bridgeford beef jerky that is the best beef jerky I’ve ever had , it’s very good , thank you mr Randy for the ton of megabass baits love it , sincerely thank you
You hit the nail on the head with this one, I’m in my mid 30’s and I got a wife and 3 kids, shit has gotten real really quick and we’re hanging in there but it’s been tough and I have definitely not been my best self lately, I’m letting the pressure and stress of life get to me!!
Well said Randy. I’m 47 and used to be so active with martial arts, sports, hiking etc. Don’t know what happened but I really have some problems with my ankle and shoulder joints. It changes the way I approach things now. I kayak fish and totally take my time loading and unloading my kayak so I don’t injure myself further. I thank God for the good days I have.
Great insight. It’s challenging this life but every time I’m on the water I try to embrace the opportunity. I’m mid 40s, 3 kids, business and a slew of other stresses but like Rick Clunn said, the water is maybe the last place man can go to get away for a moment. I try to silence the phone and focus on being the best fisherman in that moment. It might just be a couple hours but I try to be present and in the moment. Because like you said, we have no guarantees. Thanks.
Well put Randy,a serious topic..I'm 52,I know time is limited. I honestly didn't think I'd make it this long.Ive just gone through a slew of surgeries and my health is the most important aspect of my life.Everyday is a building block for the next..
Randy my brother. Absolutely spot on. And for you now that your in your sixties you (like me 64) are truly aware of your existence and place. Could not agree more with the description of this journey and the myriad twists along the way. And yes each day as you grow older is a gift. Grateful for every day I can get on that bass boat knowing that if it were the last day it I had it good. Keep preachin the wisdom brother.
Never really remember having any issues with aging until I left a club tournament in an Ambulance at 62 with a Cardiac Event. I’ve been OK since but it really has effected me since.
So many of my friends died young. I never thought I'd make it this long. I have a wife and kids so it ain't all about me anymore. Half way through my 34th year and I gave up drinking. 6mo without a drop. Living a lot healthier now and I feel better than I did at 24. That sense of mortality hit me earlier than most, thankfully.
I'm glad my mid-life crisis only involved guitars. I've seen a lot of friends go off the rails and throw much of their life away, including people they love. Thanks for helping put it in perspective Randy. Dealing with it is easier said than done, at 63, I look back and think how silly it was, but it was real and it was scary.
Good chat Randy. I’m going to be 51 on April 24th, and it’s been a struggle for me the past few years. Appreciate you thoughts and advice in this video.
I have only started this video: ---------------Break--------------------- Life is a monster Y'all, PLEASE keep GRINDING! This is a DIFFICULT conversation qt best and I just want to be here to say, DON'T GIVE UP!
Such a great video , and I want to say thank you sincerely for this one , I have to get off my butt , and stop making excuses and start working out , I have too , thanks mr Randy for everything , I really value your wisdom
Just cut up trees today for firewood ! Have all the confidence in the world in myself .Also know how to make money very well .Trying to find full time work now ! Far as death I don't really believe we totally ever die so it's not so hard on me as others .Just saying ! I'll survive ! Take a lot better care of myself than people give me credit for that's for sure 😊
Can't say I've ever had that sort of crisis due to age. Those in my circle have at the realization of there age. Being a veteran most of us realize how short and precious life is. I feel we're old when we get out and look at death alittle different. Not that I fear it, but don't wish for it. Hopefully when it comes it will be quick. I do my best to stay fit and pass on the knowledge and or wisdom I've gained in fishing and in life itself.
Randy, great video. I’m 75 and can identify with every point you made. Excellent advice for us all. Keep’em coming!
Nice discussion Randy. You really nailed the stages of life here. Well done!

I'm 69 and will be 70 in November. 30 was, by far, my most difficult age threshold.

Thanks for the advice and for doing what you do on here.
Very good mental Monday, Randy! 👌(Wisdom with age - hopefully. Not for everybody).

This is a DIFFICULT conversation qt best and I just want to be here to say, DON'T GIVE UP!
Good point on the dying thing, how dumb is it to worry about something that happens to everyone guaranteed. I stopped worrying a long time ago
Such a great video , and I want to say thank you sincerely for this one , I have to get off my butt , and stop making excuses and start working out , I have too , thanks mr Randy for everything , I really value your wisdom
1000% good stuff. Also, do jiu Jitsu if you can. I find it's such an all around comprehensive way to physical and mental health.

Stick to fishing, psychology? And mental aspect of life crusades?
Mid life is around 35. Most guys are late on their crisis! 😂😂
