OK, I gotta leave a second comment just to make it stand out. This video is packed with knowledge. I swear, RUclips loves to suppress the most important information and encourage the most disturbing information. 😢 It's so sad. So many of us need this advice, and yet so little see it. Incredible... as great as RUclips is, they could do so much better.
I’m a 35 year old male constantly panicking about my life and how it’s going to pan out after watching this video wow this has gave me guidance and hope I thank you so much.✌️amazing 😁
This is hands down the best video I have seen for years. There are many youngsters that talks about their choice of a 9-5 job vs freelance/travel etc., but i believe people their 35-55 has a much harder decision to make. We usually have way more backages and any change is almost impossible compared to when you were 20s. Yet, you realized you have made a mistake in your life's path and desperately looking for a way out. We need more guidance like this one.
At 50, having lost quite a few friends to accident/illness, you become acutely aware of your own mortality at this age. You do realise at this age, there is nothing in life that was ever worth a second of you worrying about it. Memento Mori. Great presentation.
I'm 28 and after listening to your views on how should ONE take decisions in his life, I'm gonna call to my beloved father who is 64 to get his perspective and to learn from his life experiences.
Hey Conor, I'm at 39 and not long ago I realized that I had my midlife crisis. I've started reading more and more about how to navigate through this period, listening to other people's experiences and thoughts. I'd say your talk especially the first six minutes shed light on the different aspects of this challenging time. Thank you!
that bell curve with line of sight & backpack concept ... is probably the BEST go-to visual aid I have ever seen! .. and which I will always use from now on! ... it gives SOOO much PERSPECTIVE on Every Piece of Wisdom that Any Person will come across ... cos its Value & Implementation will be relative to where we are on that bell curve.. thank you Conor ! 💓 😊

Wooowww. Thanks man. That was mind blowing. I am 40 and just reach to the top of my life journey as you said and now it is time to think and seeking other experience.
Excellent video. And it mirror's my own journey. I traveled with confidence (and arrogance) during the first-half. Then a life decimation happened. My actions had caused a karmic boomerang, smashing my ego into pieces on the ground. That was a critically important moment in that it led to positive changes thereafter. Humiliation is often the path to the acquisition of humility. Like Jung said, "There is no coming into consciousness without pain." Today? Life is grand!

Still, recently I've been thinking so much about life. For the first time, I'm seeing my elderly family getting sick and I understand that I'll not be here forever and that just breaks my heart. It's really hard to deal with the fact that we're finite regardless if I did everything I wanted to do or not. Any particular perspective on this?

Hi Conor, thank you for this powerful message. So i want to ask you, what was it like at 40. What were you going through, what decisions did you take? please share your experience. Thank you
The mind is a torturous beast that constantly goads you to seek, be and have more, keeping you unhappy and discontent. I think we need to seek solace in quiet awareness, a position of wisdom and true intelligence, from where we can see through the illusions of the mind, and arrive at peace and self wholeness. Seeking external things in the world keeps you dissatisfied, unfulfilled, and always looking for more, in short, living this way doesn't work. We are meant to seek happiness, joy, fulfilment, peace, and self wholeness within, in the inner sanctuary referred to in scripture as the kingdom of heaven.
Once again we had a great conversation on leadership beliefs today; Different perspectives and having curiosity. It's prudent to have different perspectives from those who have gone through similar crisis sometimes in the past life, how did they handled, what were those important steps they took etc may help us to deal with our current crisis. But be smart to have perspectives from those trusted mentors or your coach. We keep adding our desires, projects and dreams in to our endless list not been aware that life is finite.! Therefore, consider top 20 most important projects of which select only Five projects so as to allocate your time and resources to accomplish in a given span of time. It is worth investing time on detail planning before you start executing your long term visions/Goals. Know how to drop unimportant projects that disturbing your main tasks. Seek good conversation, dialogues with the authors rather than merely reading his book, talks are more powerful to connect and understand better. TED talks are preferred, you will ab able to align and sync with the speakers perspectives. Secondly the day you ceases your curiosity is stopping your growth journey and slowly your eroding your interest in adding value to your own life journey. Remain curious even when your are into deep crisis, do not become restless, pause, calm and have patience to take right decisions, because crucial decisions should never be taken while one is in angry mood. Thank you Prof Conor sir, you have full of energy and passion to share your wonderful thoughts and experiences help us all to learn and discover new horizons. Wish you wonderful week a head.

I had the same thought. At 38 I believe I see my horizon already. But if I we’re to mentor someone younger than me, say in their twenties, would it be possible to help them to understand this concept and to empty their “bag?” I feel like my younger colleagues struggle with this sometimes.
Beautiful. Your mentor is so wise. In Islam we knew that and a lot more about one's journey before creation, when it's created, blew life inside the flesh tender body, delivered, first years in parent's care, growing up to the highest peak of strength and wisdom in life then the fast downward curve of life, strength, mindset and knowledge. While our hopefulness aims far away of our lives times.
Love the metaphor. Is it 5 things because more would be too much, and less would be too little or make life too boring? What about those philosophies that say to only focus on THE #1 most important thing?
Hey Conor, good food for thought. Some videos ago I noticed the Buffalo Logo. Maybe you have already explained it and I have missed it - but wanted to ask: what is it's meaning? What is the story behind it? Thanks for sharing great content, stay safe.
I spend the first half of my life creating a nice resume. I want to spend the second half of my life creating a eulogy. I find I have nothing to write in my eulogy, now i switch my life focus from 'writing resume' to 'writing eulogy'. How to you see this?
Thank you, very interesting perspective. It makes you stop and look at your life and how much time you have left and what is that I want to do with the time left. I read in a book: Fear from Thick Nhat Hahn ... “so you don’t miss your appointment with life”. Your video is food for thought. Much appreciate it.

Also I've been trying to figure out what I really wanted. But I think a family is what I really wanted, and being able to maintain one.
Know that you are fortunate to be going through this your age. Many of us experience what you’re going through a bit later on (when too much time has passed by). Take this experience as energy being placed onto you so that you can better zone in on figuring out what you want. I was in your shoes at your age (wanted a wife, kids, etc) but I made the mistake of thinking that I should work on my career first, while believing that I’ll always have the tube and opportunity to get married later on. Well, later on eventually got here and my career is ok but not where I thought I’d be at my age (51) and am still not married and no kids. I’ve come to be at peace with things and conclude that if God wanted it to happen, He would’ve helped it happen. Thus, I accept things the way they turned out and approach things now as if it was the best thing for me. Therefore, if you don’t get married, know that this too will be ok for you. You will eventually turn whichever path you end up going down as the one which ultimately was your best path!

At 4:00 you imply that the person is feeling angry, and will continue to be angry, because they haven't unloaded their backpack. The fact is, they are angry because it is a stage of grieving. You are trying to justify the self absorbed behavior someone in a midlife crisis exhibits as their "purpose", when in fact it is a symptom of their confusion caused by trauma response of the amygdala and hypothalamus. That is unbelievably irresponsible and unhealthy on your part to direct people to abandon their lives to "feel better" when in fact that will not do anything but hurt them in those situations even more.

Good words, but i haven't heard much specific for midlife crisis in this video. Everything this guy says - setting perspective, getting advices and making decisions - applies to any stage of life. So no big revelation in this video.
I guess it is an "all of life crisis" but it becomes more critical when you realise that there is a finite number of hours remaining. Welcome to the Rhetorical Journey!
@@ConorNeill true. The part i liked in your video is that the crisis where you realise finitness - that's what separates it from previous finitness. Anyway, thanks for responding :)
These are hard lessons to learn. I guess we are better off listening and learning the hard lessons and to take heed than learning them the hard way when it is too late to unload the pack. Bonus nugget of gold *How to connect to the experience of another human being- what happened? Why was it important to you? What did it feel like to go through?*

Great questions
I have a lot of respect for you putting yourself out there and giving so generously of your valuable knowledge and expertise to reach people with messages so important for them to learn to grow and develop which they may not have access to otherwise. Thank you Conor for your willingness to share and for braving this world to be able to get your messages out.
Was Steve irish?
Can i work with you one on one
Conor, I found the Future Authoring program www.selfauthoring.com/future-authoring to be really helpful in this respect.
LOL what a bunch of bs. Our lives are all pre-destined. Imagine people in abject poverty. After midlife you still learn everyday...good and bad.
Dont listen to advice is bad advice. Yes we don’t always get wise mentors. It’s you’re instinct, experience and values that define you’re path. There is no true view of the terrain. Stop preaching phoney wisdom in front of a bookcase. Good luck, but I’m out.
