This is an absolutely lovely piece of pro audio equipment - I have one in my rack and planning on filling up my last 2U space with another. The ability to seamlessly go between tube and solid state saves time and increases your pallet. The fact that it has a built in compressor makes this a must have set of pre's (and compressors)..... It is absolute silk on guitars as well, either through a direct box, or direct into the Hi-Z inputs.
I use this box with two channels doing gain makeup after my passive summing box and two channels available for mics. Master bus Comp & EQ sit on the switchable inserts. Spare A to D's take in my Lunchbox stuff. Amazing flexibility and of course amazing sound.
trying to decide on this or the 2-610.this seems like the route to for more versatility. But im mainly an acoustic recording dude. I gues I can't go wrong either way. Ua rocks
probably gonna get one of these in the near future.. but I'm wondering, is it only digital out? or can i run balanced outs from each channel into my console?
@shredchris hey there! i also own a 610mkII and was debating if this unit would be redundant... tonally, how is the 710 similar and different from the 610 mic pre wise??
@@UniversalAudio nice that you responded. I am considering buying a 710 or a la610 mk2, which one is better? I assume both preamps come with compressors.. And I do want that.
@@zwxq3 Can't say one is "better". 710 comes as single channel, just pre, or 4 channel with compression. And can be solid state or tube. LA610 is a dual tube pre, no comps. Can't go wring either way!
@@UniversalAudio Okay. I wanna be able to scream into the mic without having any distortions. And I guess that's what the compressor is for.. It's so difficult to decide.
@@zwxq3 yeah, compression and proper gain staging in general will get you there. You might consider the LA610 as it has a pre and a comp. The perfect vocal channelstrip.
One of my go to units for tracking into Pro Tools. Massive flexibility. Stella results. And the balanced inserts on every channel are a must. Love it!

My 710d is coming in today. Super pumped about the tube tone capabilities.
Mine arrives tomorrow. Can't wait!

Great. Folks at UA just gettin' better and better. I LIKE your products, just as much as I like SSL, Neve.. and other superb gear...
Cheers!!

This box would be great for drum recordings. I kind of want to get two.
