They all sound great. The biggest difference I hear is crisper transients on the ISA.

For me ISA's take the cake. I thought they sounded the tightest and fullest overall, it was especially noticeable in the kick

I agree. I’ve thought of either getting another 428 or just get a 828. Thanks for watching.

Somehow there was a lot less bleed on the focusrite which I never thought of a preamp making that kind of difference but I believe it now! Managing that is always the hardest game

    First of all, nice playing!
I found certain things that I liked a lot about each of the preamps, (and nothing that I didn’t like); for example, I love the saturation of the UA Tube, particularly on the kick drum, but, I also loved the Focusrite ISA for the way it’s able to capture finer sonic details and nuances, and in that way, I’d consider it to be great for the “esoterica” of an instrument/voice performance.
Truth be told, you couldn’t go wrong with any of these preamps; you’d get fantastic, pro-caliber recording quality with ANY of them.
I wouldn’t consider one to be any “better” than the others, they’re all just a bit different…but the sonic quality of all of them is great.
For me, it would probably come down to their features…
As an owner of Focusrite ISA’s, I love how versatile they are, and in the features they have…things like inserts for processing while tracking (which can be set for either pre or post), selectable impedances (great for ribbon mics), and, with its whopping 80db of available gain, it offers outstanding headroom for ribbons and low output dynamic mics.
But again, I’d be MORE than happy to use ANY of these high quality preamps for recording.
    IMO. 🙏

First of all great playing, great sound and thank you for this video. Very helpful to me and surely many more. 🙌🏻 For the overall package, the Apollo is hard to beat but the ISA sounded the best to me. The others is not far behind, though. 😉

This was great, really like the 4-710 on the blended overall. Though I'd probably run the overheads tube and the kick snare on solid state.

@@creatingyourdrumsounds9905 Cool, IMO it sound a tad better and more open than the focusrite, the hardware was more open and overall better then both but the apollo 8 with Unison plug in can sound probably better then both.
BTW on the header you wrote UAD 4-710d, it is UA only :) Good job

The Uad Apollo definitely lacked nuance in the mid range and top end. Focusrite ISA had less bottom than the 710, but the clarity in the top end and mid transients is beautiful. More Balanced. ISA was my favourite. Id go fo maybe the 710 for kicks, but the rest ISA One. I love thicker, deeper kick drums as a Hip Hop head.

Great video! Thanks! I too have a 4-710d Apollo along with wa412 and wa273 preamps. My stereo OHs are km184s and I traditionally ran them through the 4-710d with about 60/40 tube/trans. Really punchy and powerful while smoothing out the high end and punching the toms and snare in the mids. Also hit everything with the slow attack about 3db on the 1176 circuit. Almost too punchy and aggressive for some stuff but really great overall. Now that I have the wa412 it’s a cleaner faster transient option that would be similar to the Apollo pres or the isa428. They’re all great! Cheers

Thanks man! I always use the compressor on the fast setting but I’ll give that a try for sure. I’ve thinking about getting either a wa412 or a black lion auteur quad. How do you like the wa412? Do use use an external clock for all that?

Hey! I have the Apollo 8P and I wanted to know would I hear much of a difference if I were to use other high end preamps? Would it be different from the Apollo?

    • @creatingyourdrumsounds9905
      @creatingyourdrumsounds9905  3 года назад +4

Hey! If I had the Apollo 8P I probably wouldn’t have purchased any of the other pres. There is a difference between them but it’s not huge, the are very transparent which is what I was looking for when I got them. Cool thing about the Apollo is you can use the emulators and get a bunch of different sounds.
