  • Wire Armature Sculpture creature Hello and welcome to the beginning of a brand new project, where I'm trying to create using an old drawing of mine, a 9-eyed Slug, into a clay figurine. In this video I focus only on the armature itself, but following this will be some clay sculpting using Cosclay (not available until this Fall) which will make this unique creature build completely posable!
    Cosclay won't be available until this Fall but you can sign up for their newsletter now at cosclay.com. In the meantime, I did a test video using this new clay for the first time, making it posable and sanding/painting it. Here's that video • Cosclay: The Do's and ...
    I could use all your help by liking and commenting on this video, it would mean so much to me, and to this channel if you did. Share this relaxing video to your friends, who knows they may enjoy it! The armature part of a sculpture is never all that interesting, but NEXT will be starting the clay, an I don't know about you but I'm super excited for that! Subscribe if you're not already, and hit that bell for new notifications. You won't want to miss this... Thank you guys for your time, you're all awesome!!

    The strength in armature building is so important! I learned the hard way when I started sculpting creatures! Very informative and creative good sir!

    Very cool and yay for new video. :) I only use foil for armatures and that is only done rarely. ;) Can't wait to see the rest of this project. :D Love using the beads for the eyes. I do that a lot but mostly with seed beads or small beads. BTW you are awesome too. ;) - Heidi

      Thanks so much! Ya it sure beats having to twist wires, especially galvanized! lol. That technique might not work for other application, but I feel it works nicely for what I'm doing here at least. :D

    I thought those were lightbulbs at first! It would be great to have bakeable lightbulbs at our disposal. Still intrigued by the Cosclay!

      I lOVE that idea! maybe LED lights of some sort? They would need to withstand 275 degrees temperature for about 1 hour though, hmmm.. And yes, I too am intrigued by this clay!

    What type of wire and what gauge do you use for thicker and thinner? Where do you buy your wire? Thanks.

    How did you come up with the idea to make a 9 eyed slug? Really interesting to see your process. Look forward to your next step.

      It's from a drawing I did a long time ago.... my drawings were quite bizarre and I have ZERO idea what/why/or how lol *This particular drawing was picked particularly due the design allows flexibility, which is my primary focus at this point. And thanks! Very glad to know you'll be there! Here are my bizarre drawings if interested :D (sorry if you already seen this, its a VERY old video and needs updating) ruclips.net/video/YRNdDOOT6wc/видео.html

      Aside from the 9 galvanized wires down there, it will be a bit thicker with clay once done, also I'm gonna try making the antennas a little skinner than what I did in my testing video lol )or try to) All in all I feel pretty confident about it... but I have goofed up on things in the past! So either way, this should prove entertaining at the least hehe :D

    what pricerange do you plan for the clay, lets say.. 1lb??? Do you plan to sell it in Europe /Germany?

    • @TheBroodingTom
      @TheBroodingTom  4 года назад +3

      It will be sold in 1lb packs, come in at least 2 different firmness, and the target cost with be somewhere around 12-14$ per pound. (which will compete nicely with Super Sculpey) Unfortunately I do not know if/when it'll be available to ship in Europe/Germany... I'll try to find out though, and if I do I'll get back with you here ok? Thank you for watching!!
