How can you call this an "OK" song by Ray Charles. This is the Genius taking a standard tune, adding some electricity to it, and the outcome is fantastic. Oh, What A Beautiful Morning...
yeah it's a song in the opening scene of Oklahoma but I think the uploader was just being silly seeing as the description says a song about corn and stuff. i wish the video title named the song though because this doesn't show up when searching for the song.
(The way it is written) I also mistakenly took it by the one posting this video, to mean it was simply okay, instead of Oklahoma. It is a great song and performance. Thanks for giving us this OK(Lahoma) song by that GeorgiA son.
I ushered this taping with my service fraternity and sat in the first row right behind Ray Charles. Pretty sure that's me in the middle of the white shirts at 4:30. Thank you for posting this!
That was a fun night and Ray sounded great. This was a particularly nice arrangement too. Had to have been the only night in the 9 months I traveled with him that he didn't chew out the rhythm section on stage.
Hah... you had to know, with Ray behind it, there's no way any living, breathing soul would call it just "okay" OK. ; ) This is one hell of a version of this song.
Man, Ray was into that song!! I'm gonna watch this OK stuff performance the rest of my days!! Ray was always OK!

"OK" stands for Oklahoma.

is there a timpani is this version or something? the chorus sounds so large
@@bruce_daddy Timpani? No timpani but we had a couple of extra Raylettes on this one. :)
One of my favorite Ray tunes!
One of Ray's finest!

I just have to say the bass player here adds a modern funk tone to this arrangement not always found in Rays stuff.
Ray preferred electric especially on tunes like this which he hoped might become a hit. It had been a while for him.
@Bjudge34 OK = Oklahoma = the musical from which the song came.
@Bjudge34 I Agree with you all the way on this, and I'll back you up 100% on this one.
Can you upload Ray Charles full Austin City Limits performance from 1979, where it says "copyright 1980" at the end?
@bstumpel I have that if u have Antibes! ;-)
He took 'Oklahoma' out of the musical theatre and transposed it into the jook-joints of the deep south. Bless him.
I should imagine your musical knowledge is zero
