Number 1 reason is the cost is to damn high . $250k just to raise your kid until he graduates high school , 60% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck .
More like 90%
Well the schools and the government pay a lot of the costs for my kids in Pennsylvania. My disabled child especially. So honestly, it’s not as bad in some places as it could be. It’s a better place to raise disabled children in most places than 20 years ago.
women dont date down and most women now are making more than the average men. dating apps, body counts and divorce laws are the ones who destroyed marriage and the family institution. the cost is high and women are only going for the 20% wealthiest men nowadays.
250k thats 1150 dollars per month.

@@AdrianFahrenheitTepesdisabled people aren’t going to contribute to the economy in a fiscal sense for the most part. They mostly cost the government money.
I don’t think they’ve included disabled children in the equation because of that.
Government: We are going to make everything expensive
Also government: Strange, why is no one having kids?
I. The US we live in a capitalist economy. The government does not make things expensive, business does. They also set wages.
Here's a thought, maybe people ain't having children no more because they have realized "being alive on earth is overrated" like I have?

However, if a mother is receiving welfare benefits, her monthly subsidy increases substantially with every newborn child.

@cm-qt9ir people were idiots back then. They’d pop out 5 kids, get married at 15, etc. and think nothing of it. Totally nuts.
I think best / cheapest time to have kids, at least in USA, was in the 1960’s to early 2000’s.
@c m and back then you could support a family and a 4 bedroom home with a full time manufacturing job.
@cm-qt9ir how many kids do you have?
@cm-qt9iru are talking about people who were suffering and subjected their children to suffering. For what? For a corrupt, greedy system that chews us up and spits us out? Research the propaganda the government created to get people to breed back then.
People were pretty much brainwashed into breeding. Evolution makes people more intelligent in 21st century 😂
@cm-qt9irYou would be the same person against and talking crap about people signing up for welfare and food stamps because they couldn’t afford their kids.
I’m surprised that the birth rates are not lower in the USA. We have a cost of living crisis, stagnant wages that can't keep up with inflation, exorbitant childcare costs, workplace policies that force women to return weeks after giving birth, and high healthcare costs; this is just to name a few reasons.

@c m I don’t think it’s wise for me to have kids while I’m on the sex offender registry. I don’t live a normal life and my kids wouldn’t either. Sometimes you don’t know what people are going through. Life is already impossible while being subject to American sex offender registry laws.
@cm-qt9ir Actually the data shows people had way less kids during those times. Birth rates increased after those times and when the economy improved. (Baby boom happened after ww2, not during or before the war)
@cm-qt9ir Nope. Data shows birth rates were reduced during ww1. Demographic data shows the 1910s-1930s had lower birth rates. The silent generation was a smaller generation compared to GI generation and Baby Boomers. Yes, birth rates are lower now than during the 1930s, but there was a short period where birth rates decreased in the 1930s. They only increased right after WW2.

Even if I could afford to have a kid, how do i get a date?
There's something that I think a lot of people are missing here: our working culture doesn't support having children. When we have to work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week not including time off or weekends, there's simply not enough time to work around people's schedules to make lasting relationships and long-term family planning work PARTICULARLY when you may be punished for taking time off for that.
We ought to move to more leisurely society in which we work less, and have more time to make things work. I don't believe its just an issue of throwing money at people and then telling them "now make babies".
Tax incentives (similar to France's practices to prevent a complete collapse of its population) also help as plasters to a gaping wound. But that's the thing, those solutions are merely plasters on a gaping wound.

USA is getting more expensive. Yes some women will wait until they are well establish to care for babies . The more the economy increases the less birthrate will be.
HAVE YOU SEEN THE PRICE OF FORMULA 😮
People need to get a grip. The baby crisis is a *possible* economic crisis not some apocalyptic catastrophe. Yeah, the economy *might* take a hit in the future but people will adapt. Scare mongering isn't going to make people bang!
Not "people", but subhumans need to get a grip. i.e. conservatives.
It's just the government and rich elite that are terrified. They never discuss how these people should pay their fair share of taxes... they never discuss how they hoard money & resources... I say we starve them
Yes, the world and the economy will be just fine.
It's already happened with both Japan and South Korea. In fact, the economy will NOT adapt because there are fewer people in an economy based on infinite growth in all sectors, this includes birth rates. You also ignore the amount of money required to tend to a large, non-working elderly population.
For example, both Biden and Trump are old men whose brains are currently failing them. They can not operate in high-stress, high-attention environments. When you have more elderly people who are physically and more importantly mentally incapable of work, you have fewer able-fit people around to work on anything. Including the computers and robots meant to replace human labour in the future.
This is why the replacement rate is such a crucial figure in any species.
It is very idiotic to claim that "we can just adapt" or "this is just scaremongering" when you have an economy that's based on how many people are young, able-fit and ready to work in the first place.
Not every parent is going to be a good parent and it can't damage the child and the child can become a social liability. The present world has many crisis that makes having children not a viable option. People who truly want children and not just beget children through wanton and unprotected one-night stand can have children and have multiple children if they want, but the economic, social, and political conditions of US and the world are not optimistic.
likely bc it isn't safe
So you’re saying you are a coward? YOU PROBSBLY ALSO SUPPORT STOP SIGN AND RED LIGHT LAWS TOO. Shame on you
But you will borrow
No more lambs to the cosmic slaughter hahahah
Heck no, staying single.
To be honest, it is really not feasible or even practical to bring children into this world when most of us women are struggling. No matter how educated we are, we still end up in lower-paid jobs than our counterparts. We cannot afford children. Both parents have to work hard to make ends meet which means who is left looking after the babies? The cost of living is constantly rising. Not only this but bullying is so rampant in schools, that it is a miracle to see teenagers make it to well-adjusted adulthood.
Its expensive, its a terrible world, the quality of person isnt there anymore, and more people are getting procedures so they dont have kids so its only going to get worse.
Y’all going off of old head models (young girls having babies at 18-34 years old) now young girls are having babies 35 plus years old!
I believe a 70 yr old had twins about six months ago. There have been MANY 50 yr olds giving birth. Sooooooo.......
