    Court's logic:
    Factory fitted tints do not increase crimes but retrofitted films with better visibility will add to crimes.
    Retrofitted shades increase crimes, factory fitted shades do not add to the crimes.
    I wonder how the courts found this logical.

    If it’s from factory it’s legal and if we do it ourselves it’s illegal even though it follows the criteria mentioned in the law. What a hypocrisy!

    Without tinted glass, fuel efficiency will also drop due to greater use of AC....will lead to increased fuel consumption ....which will benefit...you know whom!

      Yes , they did research on it. And it was found that cars with non tinted glass were 5-10% more polluting than cars with tinted windows.

      Why manufractures don't use electronically dimmable windows in the cars? It is already used in Boeing 787. 0 for complete transperacy, 5 for full black. People should put preasure or car makers for dimmable windows. Nobody cars about crimes anyways.

    Criminals who had completely blacked out windows still have them without any fear of anyone, while law abiding citizens who had the tints within the limits have removed them and are the only sufferers.

      Become criminal or shut up. Police in my area broke my rear light and fenders afew times while it was parked cause they were driving like a badass f1 driver so I asked them the last time last week the response I got was adjust kar lo hamare chakkar mein aaram se sote ho. he also told yeh india hain rule se kuch nahi chalta apas ke understandind se chalta hain. And I live in one of two biggest city in india. Mast maja aya uske baad kyunki samaj mein ki hum Bhandwe hain kyunki Gangster nahi hain.

    They did research on vehicles with & without tints and it was found that cars with non tinted glass were 5-10% more polluting than cars with tinted windows because AC has to work longer. Also there's the increased risk of getting skin cancer from long term exposure to UV rays.

    So factory fitted tinted glass Car will never be involved in the crime.
    The OEM manufacture those with such an advanced nano technology that its impossible to commit a crime in those cars.

    OEM fitted sunshade are only allowed to be use when the car is in ideal / in parking when the car is running you are not allowed to use factory fitted sunshade RTO fines the same

      ummm it should be, but that OEM would have to have a tinted window on sale for your car. Very expensive option also

      As far as I know, OEM parts are legal, accessories are not - sold by manufacturer or otherwise

    This was a much needed explanation. Guess my next car would a Maruti from Nexa showrooms. As far as I know it’s only those top end models that have “uv cut glass” provided by oem.

    Secondly what about the blinds that are sold be OEM as official Accesories at Dealerships ? Would they be legal too? And then how can an OEM themselves provide those blinds to their Dealer to sell when they are illegal?

      Thank you Shaswat! If the accessories are homologated, they are legal. But i couldn't find a rule where the manufacturer has to homologate accessories in order to sell them, seems like a grey area

      The cops will only look for a sunfilm, colored glass is fine as they cannot prove that it was retrofitted, unless the manufacturing date appears on the glass.

    See we are living in India where the OPPOSING POWERS are cops, who are not there fault but unaware and unknown of many of the mods rule. And so the public uses it intentionally to look cool even after the illegality. And the system is still has a loophole that they have allowed the OEMs to do so, cuz the aftermarket tint done to the same limit will barely be caught by the Cops as the driver will use the DONE BY OEM excuse.😅

      As I've pointed out to a couple of other comments with the same query, if the accessories are homologated by the company, they are legal. If not, then they're not legal. But there's not much info on whether companies are required to homologate this stuff or not

      @@carswithkaran As these OEM accessories are available for shopping via the manufacturer's own website, doesn't it imply that these accessories are homologated/approved by the company? So in this case, even if they are not sold as a part of the vehicle on delivery, they should be still legal, as the manufacturer would have followed the norms while making the product.. But a grey area indeed, arguing with the cops would be of no use.

    please speak about legality of after markets LED bulbs, bar lights and what is the legal W of headlight, to my knowledge it is 55/60W but I see most of the car run with 100W, which is really irritating as I drive a lot in night, and because of cheap LEDs they don't have any control like dip and bright, and they just blind the opposite car, and i see people fixing 5 or 6 small led lights now a days... please speak about it.....

    Matlab kehne ka ye hai ki agar apko tint lagwana hai to RTO ko Paisa khilana padega .. tabhi company modified jo on paper hai wo allowed hai kyuki apne RTO ko Paisa de Diya hai.. or agar apne nhi Diya or papers pe nhi Chadha to chalan katega.. doosre shabdo me kaha Jaye to sarkar ko paisa nhi chadhaoge or apni marzi se bahar se tint lagwaoge to jaga jaga chalan katwana padega..

      They're great to protect occupants from the harmful UV rays of the sun. In our opinion, these should be the first types of tints to be legalised!

    No any VLT film is permissible. Read Supreme court judgement WRT C 265/2011 DT 3/8/12.
    All type of film is illegal

    I think the law makes sense
    India is a big country
    It would be impossible for police to check the vehicles individually
    Transparent glasses also keeps people safe
    But semi transparent sunshades should be allowed

      What I meant is that people can increase the tint till 100% easily. But companies can't do that. I agree this is a draconian law

      Why manufractures don't use electronically dimmable windows in the cars? It is already used in Boeing 787. 0 for complete transperacy, 5 for full black. People should put preasure or car makers for dimmable windows. Nobody cars about crimes anyways.

    The completely transparent film which cuts out UV by a significant amount do help and it’s not noticeable.
    I had it on the windshield of my Alto in 2008. It got a little scratched after about 6-7 yrs. So had to remove that too.
