I have a question please answer please , I was planning to buy d400 for turning and I got a offer for second hand d400 and it's asking price is 1.8L 2019 ug model. Should I by the second hand d400 for turning ??
Love this series ❤️ Please don't hesitate to go in-depth on these topics. I feel the people watching this are really passionate about their machines and would love to know more. Thanks for teaching us Shumi 🙏
You can make a video on valve clearance. KTM recommends to do it every 15K Kms, which I think most people don't - even the service centres don't encourage it because of how complex the job is. It would be nice to know what would happen if it's not done at the required time, as in the worst case.
@@Baandishh that was trivial. We are talking about bikes. If not, even the Earth and the Universe is "consumable" and is getting consumed one way or the other.
My dad has a 2014 Pulsar 150 which has clocked almost 2.5 lakh kms. The piston, valves, timing chain, head cover all have been changed. The clutch plates have been changed twice now. After this complete restoration, we found out that the carburettor needs a change. Once done, the motorcycle would feel and ride like a new machine. Rebuilding is totally worth it.
I was having this overconsumed issue with my 8 years old avenger. I have drove around 60k km, and after such prolonged use my bike was having several issues. I got my piston, time-chain, and few gears changed,; now my bike feels new like. Still getting mileage around 35kmpl, bike easily cruises at 100kmph. It's just great again. Also, listening to Shumi is such bliss. All riders listening to Shumi need not to learn from their mistakes, he's covered you with his experience.
@Kumar Ankit Always, I always make sure that my engine oil is within the correct limit. I change engine oil at an interval of 5000 km and sometimes top up when required. Also, for last 2-3 years I am using motul 7100.
Proud owner of a 12 year old Avenger 220, more than 75k kms done. Have kept everything on check throughout and I'm still not over how great it feels to ride my motorcycle every single time. In true sense it just feels like God. \m/

It would help, if you made a video for pillion passengers too. Alot of them want to share the bike space with their loved one riding. But don't know how to sit in a comfortable way for themselves and the rider.
Great video Shumi. A request to put up a video on how maintenance of the brake caliper set up is important. Better brake pads, mechanism of piston inside the caliper, etc
Very useful as always...... Consumables are important but maintenance of an Engine after 40k running or 50k or 60k is most important. ............so please...please. ..please....make a Video on Engine maintenance parts also.......
Hey, Love this series, can you guys make a video about hi-flow air filters. The pros and the cons and weather or not they are a good and useful upgrade/modification for the motorcycle. Thanks.
I’m surprised there is no mention of chain lube/sprocket…. For me personally after petrol this is the most important part…. Should be checked after every 500-700 KMs….
Hi, now that most of the basics have already been covered in other episodes, would like to see something on gearboxes, gear ratios(and maybe how the power is delivered through the sprocket & chain) and how they differ in different classes of bikes, Cheers!
Should I disable the notification? I leave everything in hand and watch your video as soon as I get the notification. Do you know any deaddiction centre?
Hi Shumi. Is it a nice idea to keep my Fzs 150, which I bought in 2010(still running ok) for the next few years. This came to my mind because my last 3 services costings are up due to the consumables you mentioned. I am facing an issue now with electronics and cables as well. Please advise. If you can make a video.. That would be great.
I am glad you brought this important topic in front of a large audience as otherwise RUclips gets flooded by videos of Chapris flaunting their bikes xD
One important consumable you forgot to mention is brake pads & shoes. Even before brake fluids they are a lot more important, & I personally feel being inexpensive 5k-6k km is decent enough in general riding, well beforehand for aggressive riding.
More consumable parts Brake drums at evert 10-15k km Carburettor at every 45k km Clutch wire whenever it gets weak Clutch plates Brake and clutch levers Side stand as it gets tilted Headlight bulbs Entire wiring Chain sprocket Almost everything is consumable in your motorcycle. Happy Riding!
Sir please an episode on tool kit which will most suitable for touring weather it will a complete set or buying each tool separately will be a good option?
I love these videos. Request for a topic - Should we use AFR modules like powertronics ? Are they really useful ? What are the drawbacks of such modules ?
Very true That's the reason we service at recommend intervals Is it not the job of service engineers to guide us what is needed to keep the machine going smoothly, we wld be more than happy to get the consumables replaced even before they are used up completely. Ground reality is our service engineers and service centres keep cheating us and keep making money just by doing filmsy services repeatedly.
Does the runin(break in) period is necessary for the new bike.. or its just a mith.. I really confused because some guys do it and says it's mandatory and some others don't do and says it's not necessary

Hi, I have a Bullet Electra 350, I do the servicing, and all the checks regularly. But have a few questions... I have been going on long rides about 500 to 1500 km round trips for a while now... And some things that keep irritating me are: 1. Should I switch to an alloy wheel? Is it beeter for me? Because I do some off-road as well but, fixing a puncture on my current setup is too tedious. 2. The engine oil. I use Motul synthetic oil, gives me long enough range for my bike, but at the same time, I feel the experience and long lasting range can be improved, with a change in that. Some help with these would be really helpful. Thanks
1. Alloys are bad for off-road purpose they break, even general Indian road conditions (sudden pits & bumps) bend most alloy wheels easily. Specifically for off-road people use forged alloys or steel rims(easy to repair) at least that's the case for 4x4's not sure what off-road specific alloys/rims are available for bikes. I believe you could use good alloys for city & highway runs without any problems as long as you have decent roads. 2. Oil recommended in the user manual is enough. but If you want to experiment, try different brands/types(semi-synthetic ,synthetic) to find what works for you but make sure oil grade is the right one for your engine. I think for CI's its 20-40 & UCE engines its 15-50; you can also play with this if you know what different grade stand for & their use.
Hey Shumi.. i think you missed out chain sprockets, Spark Plug, oil filter, coolant (incase of liquid cooling) and battery 😅.. few people might not b aware of all just saying..
