That intro is 11/10, had me cracking up.
OMG that intro legit watched it 10 times lol. This and peacemaker intro best things on the internet 😂😂
The scene of them on the helicopter and Grant having the wrong seat belts both of the connectors being "female" is indicative to later on that all the dinosaurs are female but they were able to spontaneously change sexes. Him tying the seatbelts together is a nod to life finds a way.
That was the best intro to literally anything I’ve ever seen LMAO
I like that Nick so vehemently believes the lysine contingency never gets mentioned in the franchise again after this movie because he's gonna be very surprised when it comes up like 10 minutes into The Lost World ha
I was JUST about to say this hahaha!
they better mention this!!1
Yep, had the video timestamp ready to post about this. Glad I checked the comments first.
Fun fact - The Unix system, as depicted in the movie, was 100% a real operating system, including the 3D UI. That was definitely not developed just for the film. It was running on a Silicon Graphics workstation using the three dimensional file system browser (it could also be used through a traditional command prompt interface).
I don't think I've ever laughed at an intro so much 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That intro 😂😂😂
Can’t believe Tim missed the fun fact about the first CG face swap for Lex’s stunt double during the ceiling drop
It's awful now.
It was awful back in 1993.
IT WAS ALWAYS AWFUL.
That intro is a work of art
I would like to counter point Tim at 36:25 about the kids warming up to Grant. If you put kids, and often time adults, in situations they can't comprehend and scare them shitless, they will very very often cling to anything comforting or stable. We already saw that Tim was a huge fan of Grant and wanted to be around him no matter what, plus I always took the scene where they're getting into the cars and Lexy tells grant she was told to sit with him as her kind of having that school girl crush on him? She just looks up at him so expectantly.
Regardless of all of that, the man saved both of their lives. They watch the one adult they were left run away and leave them, and he came to save Lex from the jeep up top, and Tim from the jeep in the tree. Not only do they know that this man KNOWS dinosaurs in a new world where that's the biggest danger, he's proven it by saving each of them from different situations. If that were me in those kids shoes today, and grown as 6 food dude and Allan Grant saved me in the same ways, I would be cuddling up to that man as much as he would allow me to because that man represents safety and knowedge in a world I know nothing of.
But I will admit it does seem odd how quickly Grant himself warms up to two things he's expressed deep unliking for. That's all, thank you for your time.
Just here to say I agree, I just watched the movie and didn’t get any weird vibes at all.
It's also kind of a holdover from the original book, IIRC the kids' parents were going through a bad divorce and that's why Hammond invited them to the island as a get away from the trauma. Grant becomes sort of a father figure to the kids during the events on the island.
I saw Jurassic Park in the theater when it came out. It was a $1 theater, so almost nobody else was in the theater. The scene where the raptor is going after Lex in the kitchen, and runs right into her reflection... when she's ok, and runs out, I realized I was sitting literally up and on top of my seat in the theater. Love everything about this movie!
So excited for this series! I’m a firm believer JP 3 is very underrated
Even thinking about the reveal scene of the herd and Hammond saying “welcome to Jurassic park!” makes me wanna cry it’s so fucking good
I've realised you guys haven't done the Alien movies. That would be a fantastic in review series. It has a classic, an awful movie and some ok/decent movies. Alien right through to Covenant, please do it.
Maybe add the Predator and AVP movies on that list.
excuse me, two classics
also would be great because alien day is coming up soon
@@ninawilliams8 Haha, Aliens a classic? debatable in view but all the more reason for them to in review it!
The intro has me dying, OMG!!!
In response to Andy’s problem with Jeff saying it was a natural selection not being involved with the asteroid strike. It wasn’t until the late 1990s that it was heavily believed that an asteroid was the cause of their extinction
That intro was SO good
That intro is Cameron Kennedys magnum opus
40:55 The lysene contingency thing was sort of mentioned again in The Lost World when Malcolm is meeting with Hammond in the beginning. It's a quick throwaway line that Hammond says the dinosaurs were flourishing on Site B without it. In The Lost World book, it's explained a little more in depth in that in that version, some dinosaurs made it onto the mainland as well and figured out alternative sources of lysene to survive. The idea behind this being that it ties back into the "life finds a way" and adapts and evolves to continue surviving and the hubris of Man thinking we figured out a failsafe and had a way to control them.
I gave a thumbs up just for that opening intro 🤣😂😂
i didnt know/forgot you were doing Jurassic park so this was a nice little surprise for me this morning. I was 3 months old when this hit theater but i have grown up watching it and it always a fun time
Wow that intro is incredible hahaha
Brilliant intro. This movie was my "Star Wars" experience in the theaters. I was born in '83, so I missed the theatrical run of the Star Wars trilogy. I was in third grade when Jurassic Park came out and it totally blew my mind. It's one of my favorite movies of all time.
Waited so long for this that I was starting to think it had already been reviewed by you guys!
KF reviewing my favourite movie of all time on a really sad day for me, I love you all, thank you for the amazing content❤️
"One of the few major franchises that we haven't done"
Die hard just sitting there....
I read Jurassic Park when I was in 3rd grade after seeing the movie. I was obsessed, and the amazing thing is that I actually understood quite a bit of the novel. Not because I was intelligent, mind you, but because I was so obsessed at 8 years old that I basically lived and breathed everything having to do with Jurassic Park and dinosaurs.
I came for the Audio version to see this and it was worth it. Give the guy a raise
what an INCREDIBLE intro! That is perfection.
Heck yes bby! I’ve been waiting for this series 🥰
I’ve actually been waiting for this series
The lysine contingency is explained when Grant discovers the dinosaurs are breeding in the wild. That was more of a story point in the books. It could have been completely left out of the movie though.
Aye. They explain it away so it's not a thing in the second movie, too. So yeah, completely could have been left out entirely.
Spielberg does the overlapping lines in a lot of his films. E.T. and Close Encounters are two other standouts. He does it to make the dialogue seem more natural and I love it.
going to the movies as a kid was a very special thing, we would get maybe 1 or 2 per year usually on birthdays. I saw Jurassic Park twice in theatres it was so good.
Jurassic park is my favourite movie/franchise of all time. I loved dinosaurs when I was a kid and my mom promised to bring to to see it in 93 when I was 5 years old, but she passed away a few days after it came out and didn't get to bring me. My uncle took my family to see it and after watching it, it took my mind off the grief. Now this movie, to this day is my go to when I'm feeling down at all. Kinda saved me while I was growing up, amazing what a movie can do for a person.
That collective laughter from the intro gives me energy throughout the day like the energy canister from Monsters, Inc !!!
I liked as soon as the intro finished! This will be a classic :)
this episode changed my plans for the day. changed what i was gonna wear and what i was gonna do with my evening
My favourite movie of all time. Like Andy I saw this as a 4 year old. But our Film stopped working at the beginning of the T. rex scene. My mother asked if I was okay to wait there while she went to smoke. (Since they were fixing the projector) I sat there alone and as soon as she left the T. rex attack took place. Being alone as a 4 year old watching that is a completely scary and unique experience i am grateful to have had even tho I was positive the dinosaurs were going to eat me for weeks after. I made her take me again and again.
Thank you cameron for the intro that was a good laugh. 😂
As a podcast listener I opened this just so see that intro, it was even better than I expected.
That was the best start to ANY KF Review
This is our yearly Thanksgiving movie
Got my like just for the intro! Amazing!
Ooo Jurassic Park in review. Time for a rewatch.
56:42 Has got to be the best description of how Dr Malcolm walked up to the shit I've ever heard!
THAT INTRO OMG 😂😂😂 Jurassic Nick 😂😂
I'll never stop laughing at that intro video! 🤣
Favorite underrated Michael Crichton adaptation: 13th Warrior, with Antonio Banderas
It's based on an awesome book called Eaters of the Dead!
I highly recommend both
My favorite movie of all time! I was 5 when I saw it at the cinema with my parents. Had the toys, clothes, etc for the next couple of years. It scared the shit out of me and I loved every second of it.
The first PG-13 movie I ever went to. I was 7 at the time and it scared the crap out of me. The kitchen scene in particular. By the time it came out on home video it no longer scared me and was just awesome.
That intro is the absolute best! 🤣
That intro is amazing! 🤣🤣🤣
On the helicopter ride to the island the first time, Grant only has two "female" ends of the seat buckle. How he solves the problem is tying them together...ultimately...finding a way. ;)
Omfg, that is genuinely is the first time I've heard that! Nearly 30 years later and I'm still learning shit about this movie. There is no way that is a coincidence! Respect m8 for catching that.
I legit downloaded Jurassic Park while watching this. You guys made me realize how long it's been since I've seen it
"it was Billy" 2:02:09 .... nick always gets me with the most off-handed comments lmao
I'm sorry, but the velociraptors weren't in their paddock when you see them being fed with the cow. They had been moved into the small secure pen (which is what the keepers were doing in the opening scene when the staff member was killed opening the cage when muldoon was shouting "shoot her!") because they kept attacking the the fences after "the big 1" came in and killed several of the others. The true life velociraptors were indeed small, the size of a turkey iirc, however, there is a dino called deinonychus that the palaeontologist that JP hired based the raptors on and is very much the size and look of the raptors in JP1. Since JP another dino called the UTAH Raptor has been discovered that is very much like the raptors in the JP universe.
So glad Nick picked up on the Lysine contingency thing. I remember asking my parents about that when I was a kid, and they were so confused and had no idea what the hell I was talking about.
Still one of my all time favorite movies. Awesome intro also
Finally, my favorite movie in existence and they gave it the greatest intro in existence lol
Adam Jones, guitarist for Tool, was one of the model makers on the film!
Andys Kaaaw sound for the raptor call lmfao!!
That intro is GOLD
So excited for this series! Awesome intro as always god damn this one was extra special #NickSux
they mention the Lysine thing in the next one and how they survived
lmfao poor Nick, but that intro had me rolling 🤣
In JP2 julianne moores character says that the herbivore dinos on site b are instinctively eating plants with high lysine content in order to survive, then the carnivores are eating them...."LIFE...UH...FINDS A WAY".
The intro is the best thing ever!
I had no idea this was being released but as it happens I watched last night....always a perfect movie.
Omg that opening!!!! LoL
That intro was great!!
Brilliant intro
How did I miss that this was going to be happening!
Also read the book but there was a junior novelization. 9 year old me was obsessed.
This is my favourite film if all time, excited to watch this one :)
58:35 they are ingen, it’s not talked about but the helicopter that takes them to Jurassic park has the ingen logo on its side.
I was 8 years old when this movie came out and I still remember that experience. Such a great movie! Top 5 for me :)
Then mentioning how this is a perfect movie got me thinking. I would LOVE for them to do The Princess Bride, but I know it would never happen as they don’t do one offs like that. To me that me that movie is the definition of a perfect movie
the intro has me in tears
This intro deserves its own award
If you haven't already, you must look up the recreation of the T-Rex encounter that someone made using his cat and the film footage. It's amazing.
OMG the opening 😆 🤣 😂
That is so freaking funny!
Legit they need a raise for that opening lol 😂
Andy hitting that high note 😄 1:41:12
That fuckin intro! Lmfao i died laughin on break at work lol
Brontosaurus is now Apatosaurus. Brontosaurus was an Apatosaurus with the incorrect skull placed on the skeleton.
Brachiosaurs have always been a thing and still are.
11:00 theres also a Dinotopia video game for the GameCube
Oh wow have they really never done JP? Seems like something they would’ve done already haha
It turns out that the GUI that the JP computers used for the Lex hacking scene was a real GUI for early UNIX systems. It was called IRIX by Silicon Graphics.
Rumor is, that Nedrys can will come back in dominion as the key thing how they are making new dinosaurs.
I come back to this inreview just to see the intro lol😂
Wow love the dinotopia shoutout
I was 5 years old when I saw this movie in the theater... I was supposed to go to see Snow White and the 7 Dwarves Remastered, so I had to go see Jurassic Park with the rest of my family and older cousins. I remember the Snow White thing so clearly its weird.
But yeah the Spitters part where they hawk a loogie on Newmans face with acid loogey. I absolutely loved the Spitters! I was a dinosaur nut at that age and I dont think I had ever heard of a Spitter style of Dino before and thought it was the most epic thing ever! Funny thinking about how that was pretty much one of the scariest parts of the movie, and at 5 years old I thought it was the coolest part of the movie by far.
It's a shame that they did not highlight the Spitters ever again in any of the other movies... at least that I can remember...
I paused the audio version to give a click for the intro alone 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’m so sorry Nick but that was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen haha
that fucking intro graphic killed me lmao.. best one yet
Will you guys ever go back to the biweekly schedule?
Quick correction for Andy. Carbon dating isn't actually used to date Dinosaurs. They use other things like where they are found in sediment layers. Carbon dating only goes back like 40,000-50,000 years
