Is the 2020 VW Jetta R-Line the ULTIMATE compact car VALUE?

- The Jetta has been in VW's competitor to go against cars like the Honda Civic & Toyota Corolla.. Over this time VW has brought unique German style to the compact car class. Under the hood is a 1.4L turbocharged inline-4 that is producing 147HP & is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The R-Line brings extra sporty style with a unique front fascia and wheels. On the inside you will find a spacious interior, and a ton of amenities. Is the 2020 VW Jetta R-Line the BEST compact car VALUE?

I love how here in the US "compact" means fullass sedan lol
Lol
LOL
AGREED!
Where that be?, Europe?
This is super small and cramped.
When he said sprite + jolly ranchers thought he was going to say lean also haha
😳
Ah yes I'm from Houston too
I just got a 2020 VW Jetta R-Line a couple months ago, and I absolutely love it. There’s really nothing I can complain about so far
this comment was 7 months ago. how's the car now? still going strong? thinking off getting one.
Also curious how the car has been! Looking at one in my area.
The thing about raiti's rides is that he makes review on every car coming from BMW to all over the lower end... Love your work... Keep going on...!
Great review. Good value! People gotta remember the Jetta is the most economical model VW sells in the US.
If you want more, step up to an Arteon or Audi. 30/40 MPG is what the diesels used to return. Great package all together, and with incentives, these sell for 20k.
I got this same Jetta R line/silver in July after my 2016 jetta was totalled. I have about 4600 miles on the car, my R line does have the cold weather package with heated seats in the back. The gas mileage is out of this world, this is one smooth ride, glad I got this car!
I am so glad that you like this one John.
Test drove this yesterday. It does actually have a Sport mode. You just kick back the shifter back towards you, and it goes into sport.
This dude could sell a snow cone to an Eskimo 😂 love your videos
I would think R line would be more performance oriented, but with the base price and mileage, looks like a good deal.
I totally agree with you!
Seems like Kia is holding out on that one 😂
@@cubsfansupreme07 Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one.
It’s just an appearance package
That's what the gli is for.
I’ve been waiting for this one joe! I just watched your review of that orange jetta r line! I love these
That is so awesome! I’m so glad that I could bring it to you!
Raiti’s Rides, Joe you always have excellent detailed information on all your cars and you’re funny with the food and drinks! I love slim Jim’s, definitely gonna consider this Jetta!
love this channel..with all the references he makes to snacks and all that🔥🔥
Thanks for letting me share it all with you!
Fantastic Jetta for Boston, Miami and the whole country.... cool video
I got my hands on an SE Jetta for 16k in peak Covid year. It was a 2019 with only 400 miles on it. It wasnt used the 400 miles were from people test driving it 😂. But she’s been runnin great for me for the past 2 and a half years! Made me get into Volkswagen.
1:20 That part of the front bumper looks similar to the Lamborghini Huracan EVO RWD and great video joe
Thanks man for letting me share it with you!
Hey joe I remember seeing the giulia quadrifoglio review and after seeing that video, I think you should review more high performance vehicles just so I could see your awesome reaction, awesome videos as always joe
Stay tuned because we have more to come:
Decent car for the money if you want good fuel mileage and not a lot of HP. Thanks for sharing it Joe. Nice job! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
I think you hit the nail on the head!
Have one of these now as a daily, great gas mileage and gets the job done.
Thanks for sharing that input from your experience!
I bought this 2020 Jetta R Line in white (Manuel) and I love it ❤️
I love your vids keep up the great work
Thanks for having my back!
Great value ....bought the base model . It has lots of features and standard alloy wheels
I like this Jetta , good review .
I’m so glad you like this one!
This is an intriguing choice. I'd be interested in leasing a 6MT R-Line in the silver color. Its got a sunroof too, which is a must have for me (Zonk without!)
I like the way you think!
WATCH OUT with the manual in these..... BAD Rev Hang: ruclips.net/video/FGFQKSFjXDw/видео.html
@@memopadilla5931 I doubt it would matter if you're just using the car for commuting; but yeah, I wonder if these newer Jettas have the ECU tuning of the older ones to cure the RH.
Joe I like the car and videos. Keep them coming. My favorite pop tart is blueberry as well, just like my otter pops…. When do you think the 2022 VW GTI video will drop? Looking forward to that car with a manual trans….
I adore this car. I have the SEL. Will buy VW again for sure.
This is really a great car and the gas mileage is great I filled my gas tank up last Thursday and it’s not even close to the half way mark 😅
That is so awesome! Helps save some money .
Just bought this car in a 6 speed. Great ride!
Nicely done.
Great Video Joe!
Thanks Jose you are the best.
Thank you for a great video, and funny to boot. Jolly Ranchers! I plan to purchase this for my 17 y.o. daughter and German is the only way for our family. thanks for the review, gave me more confidence is my purchase. I am getting the 2020 for $18k, with 50k miles on it. I am happy.
I love how he specifies Three Musketeers, Slim Jim’s, Snickers, Twinkie’s, ect. It’s just so funny and clever
That's what I'm talking about, great balance between exterior / interior for a 24k car.
You keep me sane during my long night shifts 🇬🇧👍
I am so glad that I can do that for you Simon!
@@RaitisRides keep them coming m8. I'm working all over Christmas as well 👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
I have been waiting for a VW Jetta Review. Thank you!!
Am sad about the weak HP. Too bad they didn't have the GLI ready for review.
I am so glad that I can bring it to you!
ruclips.net/video/2eg1VWYu78M/видео.html
Oh, embarrassed. Haha forgot I liked that vid. GLI is my fav. Owned 2004 and currently have 2012.
My wife got the 2019 Jetta S with the Driver Assistance Package. The zonks are valid; they should've put some climate controls/USB in the back seat. The R-Line seemed like a lot of money for almost the same thing(not crazy about that sunroof).Trunk is truly spacious and all Jettas have the same engine. It's a great trip car(took it to your home state multiple times). DO negotiate hard on these; like Joe says: You got a lot of choices, make 'em work for your money. The Jetta SEL Premium is the best model and is the closest that comes to feeling like you're driving an Audi.
7:12 you're 8ft tall?!? I had a GTI and I've never liked VW interiors but nice on the outside. Thanks for another review Joe!
that car is way too big for me
Thanks for letting me share a laugh or two. I really appreciate your support!
excellent review!!
Thanks Louis!
That jetta looks very nice it looks so better than the 2015/2016. Very nice!
I looked at one of these recently exactly like Joe's except it had a manual transmission. Offer around $19,000, which while not the GLI, still not a bad value. I just decided to wait longer for the 2021 Civic.
I'm driving this as a company lease. It looks aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I've received many compliments from my friends and family. It's very affordable. Interior is very clean. The major cons of this vehicle are the engine (needs more power), manual seat adjustments (bleh), and horrible sounding speakers. Probably the worst stock speakers I've ever heard in any car I've ever driven. My 2003 Toyota Highlander had better stock speakers. Nonetheless, it's a solid daily, looks good and drives well. It's a great car to take on road trips due to it's fuel efficiency.
I think the Jetta is the best handling compact. Drove my friends GLI, it was excellent.
Really liking the styling of this Jetta. For the price, you're getting decent performance, and awesome mileage. Maybe a tad boring compared to Vic's BMW, but hey lol. Love the camera work! Btw, did the appreciation get-together for 400k viewers get to you? 8' tall in the driver's seat? Dang, Volkswagen must be doing it right...
LOL Thanks for letting me share some laughs and this Jetta with you Adam!
Here in aruba all version have 8 parking sensors and the high resolution touch screen and optional sunroof but the top of the line have the lcd cluster sunroof senors and 360 camera
I do think this is a tremendous value. I’d try to work within the budget to swing a GLI even if used myself, but that’s not knocking this one.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one.
the GLI is the real value.
Love you're videos keep u the great work and can u do a review on a 2021 camry trd in the new ice edge color please
We try to get one together for you!
Thanks I appreciate it
I love how much you’re a snacker. Makes me laugh every time 😂😂
Just bought one last week the only issue i have that there is no passenger seat height adjustment .a mistake if you 5ft ...
Nice review Joe can you please review the new Nissan Juke please
I’ve owned an 07 and 15 Jetta, in my opinion it’s the best compact car money can buy.
Thanks for sharing that great input from your ownership James!
Mazda 3> Jetta
Long road trips I get 52 mpg with this car! I have the red r-line and I love it lol
I purchased this car in 2020. On trips over 30 miles on Intersate I get 45 mpg. Trips over 300 miles I get 50-51 mpg with A/C on!!! Agree with RAITI on his thoughts. Wish dash had indicator for headlights on. Have to check where light swich is below dash. That an I dislike the auto engine off at stop lights.
Oh wow! that is fantastic! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this one.
"On Throttle!!!" Nice review, as always! I like the value for this car but would worry about the reliability compared to Toyota and Honda. Maybe for a nice cheap lease.
I can totally understand where you are coming from!
I agree. I like this a lot but reliability is definitely a dealbreaker
I really would like to buy this car but I can't take a chance with the reliability.
I wish they still had a six-year 72K miles warranty. If they did I would pull the trigger.
@@TheLittletroyboy I got a 2019 r line with 12,000 miles for 16 grand the 72,000 mile warranty is transferrable.
J ~ I'm just glad it finally looks like a decent car ext/int rather than a fart, good quality & value for the price point- tony
That is a very good point Tony!
I love the trim on this design. I just wish VW would innovate their grille designs the way Kia did. so far the R-line grille looks basic.
Agree exactly
I have a 2019 model and what I HATE about is how you feel every single bump and expansion join in the road. SUPER tiring to drive, so I'm very confused when you say it's very smooth and absorbs the bumps and exp joins. Pls help on this one cause it's time for new lease.
Can’t wait for you to get your hands on a Kia K5 GT!!!
I totally agree with you!
Going from watching a Hellcat to a Jetta, wow, what a difference!
We cover it all on Raiti’s Rides!
How is it possible I get hungry watching these videos EVERY time. You can get Jersey Mike's, TWINKIES to pay you to put their stuff in these vehicles. Even throw some family jewels in the mix.
Thanks for letting me share some laughs, food and of course cars with you!
Best thing is this one comes with a 6 speed manual as standard 🤙
AGREED!
What do you think of the 2021 r line
Watch this dude for car reviews, leave the videos extra hungry.
I feel the same way brother!
Love my 2020 Jetta R line !
Thanks for sharing that great input!
I like this color and wish they offered it (or reflex silver) on the GTI. I’d like VW to turn the Jetta into a hatchback/fastback and I might consider one.
Good call!
But the Jetta is almost a Golf sedan.
how’s the speaker system in the r line?
My daily is a 2019, and while I loved it at first, after a few weeks you really start to see where they cut corners where they really shouldn't have.. I'm trading it out soon.
What is your project car?
I have 3 lmao, a stage 3 2006 Saab 9⁵ aero wagon, a high class white trash 88 Pontiac Fiero some neckbeard put a bs Ferrari 308 bodykit on, and a stage 2 2009 Caliber SRT4. That's actually the whole reason I bought the Mk7 in the first place, on top of all the other bs I spend my money on it has a 6 year, 72k mile warranty so I only have to replace wear items, but man after a while you realize how bad stuff really is. In general stuff that should be standard at $24k in 2020. They give you a " panoramic " it's not btw, sunroof, but only four, 6in speakers no tweeters, a tiny little cluster display, a 6.5in infotainment, rear torsion suspension 🤢 a way too flimsy prop rod that I'm waiting for to drop on my head so I can sue VW 😂 that thing will fail eventually, the stock Ecopia tires cannot handle a puddle, on top of really dumb decisions like water thing 0w20 oil they want you to go 10k miles in between changes, and there's already a class action lawsuit with the 8speed tiptronic, after about 4k miles something in the torque converter starts grinding really bad and the car starts bucking. This started after I got my car. They put lipstick on a pig and it really lures you in but you eventually see how bad it really is. I don't even think the GLi is worth the money. Then, if you get an SEL or higher you get all the features, like digital cockpit etc and peoples fail constantly in the Mk7 group I'm in bc well it's VW they have the worst electronic issues in the industry. I wrote out alot more than this but it didn't post my original reply to you for some reason lmao.
@@2004cyrus man for some reason it's not posting my replys
I really find it rough ride on uneven roads I don't think the tires aren't. Wide enough . I have Nissan xterra and it rides rougher than that frame chunks . I have Elaine and is not electric seat for driver. And I agree wind noise could be better
Hello Joe and all car enthusiasts, I have 1 question for VW Jetta owner. Is it reliable daily commute? I'm planning to buy either Kia Forte Gt or Hyundai Elantra Limited and I'm considering Jetta se or r-line. Your suggestion is highly appreciated. Thanks
Get the r line. I love mine
Please do review on DDR GRULLON. Thanks in advance.
Any one think the sentra sv with premium package is better? Im shopping and torn between the two. Any recommendations?
Joe another great review!! Here is a suggestion. You should show us what tires each vehicle that you review comes with. I think it is something all reviewers dont do that would make your content even more unique. Anyways again love the review!
Thanks Michael! The only challenge with that is not every vehicle comes with the same tires. Yes, if you bought say a Shelby GT350 they only come with Michelin Cup 2 tire. This Jetta could have Michelins, Bridgestone etc... Just depends what is at the factory during the time of build.
I'm not a fan of this new generation Jetta but it sure looks good in Silver !
That is so very true!
Joe would you pick this car over say a Corolla? Also curious, how does this R-Line compare against a Jetta GLI?
Long term corolla wins. If I were you, you would rather lease that jetta if you really wanted one.
"being 8ft tall"...thought you'd be a pro bb player joe...take a much-needed break joe....
LMAO! Thanks for letting me share some laughs with you!
Paused the video to come find the other people that noticed and got a laugh Hahaha
New 2021 civic vs jetta ?
Waiting for when you do the new honda civic next year
Stay tuned!
Interior quality is better than the competition
Is car price increasing this year a lot in US? I remember the base model of Jetta 2.0 2 years ago starts at $16xxx, this car is $24xxx?
The R-Line is the 3rd tier in the Jetta lineup. It goes Jetta S, SE, R-Line, SEL, SEL PREMIUM. The R-Line is basically an SE but with additional cosmetic and functional stuff hence the price bump
You ever had jolly ranchers with sprite?, yes sir I have but it turns purple .. xD
LOL
Put this man in a 2000 Honda it’s gone sound lit
Sprite with jolly ranchers bro you from Texas that’s how we sipp lean 😂🤣
I have one....the gas mileage is phenomenal...the Rline has a sport mode and the steering tightens up
Hi I just got a 2021 Volkswagen Jetta r line how do you put it in sport mode I only see the eco mode button
@@themasterzilla Pull the shifter back, on the display it’ll say D to S.
theyre nice looking, id say its between this and the mazda 3, and id lean toward thew mazda. better base engine. but im sure people are tuning these 1.4t and probably getting good power out of them. but for the average person who will leave it alone, mazda 3.
If I'm looking for a small sedan now I'll just wait few months for the Elantra N. The one some car tubers test drive this week seems like it'll be the sporty value king of small sedans.
Good call!
I love the Jetta, even the R-line! Plenty of features for the price. I walked into the office to sign a deal on a 2019 r line and they hit me with the “mandatory scheduled maintenance package” for an extra $2,000, so I walked right on out. Beautiful cars but I’ll never own one 😂
So just don’t buy the warranty.
It’s not mandatory that you buy it.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one.
Good call!
This is very true!
great videos. Jetta is my dream car actually haha. i am Student and living in Germany i am saving some money to buy a car . what would you recommend? would it be possible to make a video for the best Student´s car.?
have a nice day sir
Thanks for tuning and letting me share it with you. I would say a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla. That is a great idea. I will get it together.
@@RaitisRides i agree with this man right here.. civic or corolla for first car. While we on that, you should review 2021 civix lx and corolla le on your channel. We looking forward to those reviews.

Love that 5 fingers " Z " lol !!
If I would put my own snacks or drinks in there, then I would probably say either a small tray pack of any chips ahoy cookies with any type of bottled milk, or maybe try and fit 2 or 3 tall cans of my favorite juices, Arizona Arnold Half & Half Iced Tea Lemonades.
I like the way that you think.
Thanks Joe.
love this guy
no homo .
I like that it’s available with a manual
VW MT's are slick. I love the handling.
