It is nice to see that you decipher and uphold the Alphonso variety - royal in taste, colour, aroma and nutrients! Also congratulations on creating preserves of this fabulous fruit!!

In India if any mango looks like this we'll probably call the seller a scammer. XD

The Alphonso mango grown in Konkan is an excellent fruit, good in taste, smell, flavor, color, texture, keeping quality. Its problem: it is overpriced. There are completely different, equally good or better varieties grown in South India North India and East India. So the Alphonso is very popular in Mumbai,Gujarat and metropolises. The rest of India eats the best varieties of locally grown mangoes.

There are many great mango varieties in India.Particularly some very very rare breed grown in Murshidabad district in West Bengal. Some of these varieties are extremely rare and very few people know how to take care of these mangoes.Alfanso is good breed but not the best. The advantage of Alfanso is due to it's lower water content this breed is easy to preserve and transport.

One thing I like most about mangoes is that I can get more than 100 varieties in a radius of 10 kilometres.... especially in rural India ...desi mangoes... people don't talk about them but many of them are super tasty ,few are super soury also.

Actually alfanso is over rated bcz it's in the richest state of Maharashtra easy transport to Mumbai ports. It stays longer too...you find more flavour ful and sweetest ones each one is unique...like himsagar Gopalbhog kisanbhog Langra Dasheri Kesar Chausa .

      Alphonso r d best..
I have tried many mangoes, but trust me nothing comes close to Alphonso..
& Thts why they r expensive & has so much demand..
Unlike ur third class mangoes like chausa, himsagar & whatnot..
      No demand for these mangoes..
      Only demand is for Alphonso
