i like how you nail the cymbal sounds almost perfect, you know exactly which crash cymbals to hit, im just not the type of drummer to do covers, so i would never attempt a cover no matter how much i love the band, dimmu used to be one of my fav bands, i still like them though
In my opinion the Remo Pinstripes clear. They're versatile! They give a nice fat attack when you hit them hard especially on the floor toms and at the same time without coating and good tuning, can make the drum sing!
When I record the drum I make sure to put the flat end of each drum mic facing the center of the drumhead for attack and take your time when you EQ from what ever DAW you're using. I use Waves SSL 4000 plugins. pretty expensive but definitely worth it!

Covers are a great way to practice, and to learn new techniques and playing styles. I feel it helps you set a clear goal to push yourself too.
