Bama fan here, so pretty unbiased outside view point. I think UT & the BuckNutz are similar in some respects. UT does lean on a fairly effective run game. BuckNuts really want to do that, they just haven’t had the ability to do it successfully. BuckNutz really want to be a hard nosed physical team that pounds the rock on offense, and they have pretty talented backs. They just haven’t been physical enough to do that, at the point of attack. All of their best weapons are their receivers, they just haven’t got a QB that can be trusted to make good decisions in getting them the ball, when it’s not schemed up for him to know where to throw presnap. While UT has a very capable QB in that regard, he has just struggled with his accuracy at times. Often times over throwing guys. But, he does make the right reads and throw to the right people, just not always where they can reach it. Which is a much better position to be in, than having a guy you can’t trust to operate the offense and make the right decisions. Ohio States defensive secondary as a whole is better, but not by a lot. They have a couple guys who are incredibly boom or bust at CB. UT has a very solid CB pair. TOSU has the best safety in the country. UT I wouldn’t say is a weak spot, but they aren’t Caleb Downs. No one is. TOSU has an advantage at LB, but UT has the slight advantage across the D Line. So it’s really going to be a game of coaching and who can get their QB in rhythm in the game, to help get their defense spread out a bit, to make the run game more efficient and effective. I lean UT, but I’m sure it’s gonna be an emotionally charged stadium. If UT can get into it with scoring early, they can have an opportunity to turn that whole place on its head and turn the stadium against the home team. That’s what I’m pulling for.
Great take and spot on! Our line is very suspect and I'm not confident that they can get shit straight leading up to the game. Hopefully Day watched the tape and doesn't run head first into there line. They had success on the edges some but never went back to it. Will see if he learned anything from the last game with a highly touted d line. As with most games the lines will dictate the winner.
Wolverine here. Just watch what we did to them. They were 23 point faves at home. Just take advantage of their porous O line that don't have gap discipline and don't block well. We rushed 3-4 and got home (pressured Howard 20 times). Make them beat you in the air and you should win, if you can double team by only rushing 4.
There’s not? He just thoroughly explained both teams out of conference stats but in conference the Big Ten has the edge at top heavy teams. Don’t dismiss that just because you want to when it’s a fact. That’s not saying Tennessee is gonna be a problem but if Georgia was able to move the ball efficiently like he said yesterday Ohio State is going to it’s about how Tennessee defense respond la to these types of weapons.

Well yeah, Ohio State’s talent is only rivaled by Georgia and Alabama. Ryan Day just isn’t capable of putting it all together. They have a glaring weakness every season. I do think that Ohio State would have a bye right now if their 1st round left tackle and Rimington winning center were healthy, so that at least is outside of Day’s control - other than not recruiting the line well enough for depth.

It’s difficult to say who wins this. The teams are comparable on several levels. I would say this. Ohio State, despite having the most talent, doesn’t have the best coaching. And with Ryan Day playing for his job….let’s just say he doesn’t have a good track record for big wins under pressure. Tennessee by 7.

@@EricBanner we waxed OU at their house man. What about Florida and Kentucky who both beat Ole Miss, a team that most playoff team coaches were happy that Ole Miss didn’t make the field because they are scary. Battered Vandy which held Texas to a tight game. SEC unranked teams were giving a hell of a lot better of a fight against ranked opponents than BIG 10 was.

Talented to me means, "potential" only. Talent is meaningless if you aren't coaching them up well enough and/or scheming them right to have the most production. OSU has underperformed considering all the, "potential" talent on that team. If you aren't producing, than your not talented. I think TN has more e talent in production than OSU.
I would say matching player-to-player or team-to-team looking at season games skews the results. A 4 or 5 loss team we play in the SEC is very different than a 4 or 5 loss in the big 10.
