Thank god for this video 😭 everyone else always has to get so technical with their language and the 30 minute tutorials, you need 5 mini videos just o break down the tutorial... thank you so much for this info and creating this breakdown, this is so so helpful. 🙏🏼
You can leave the len in autofocus on BUT you must set in the setup option to AFS in order to focus with middle press button before start, get focused and then start filming and it wont change
Thank you Peter. You clarified a lot of detail that I did not understand You are a master teacher. I wish you a successful, long career and a good life

peter! i watched so many videos to understand the functions of D5300 literly i just understand from ur tutorial... thanks man for explaining in a very simple way ...
I have the D5600 and film in the flat profile and turn sharpness and contrast all the way down. And I actually keep the saturation at the default level. I have the 18-55mm kit lens which works great outdoors, but purchased a 35mm f1.8 for lower light shooting.
Love your videos bro, I have my Nikon d5300 and your tutorials to make videos for my RUclips channel is so helpful, thank you so much for your help bro, I just subscribed.
Hi I have just come across your channel and I’m so grateful for this. I do make videos as well as take photos. I actually bought my Nikon D5300 specifically for photographs but it seems senseless that I don’t use it to make my videos and my vlogs. I just can’t get my head around it for filming. I’ve only had a go at doing the kit lens with auto focus and it still doesn’t focus even with auto focus so I’m really looking forward to watching all your series on this
I have been running a D90 for about 9 years now, but wanted a smaller DSLR that I could get quality video on while not being afraid to take into some remote locations. So, I grabbed an excellent condition used D5200 yesterday for around $275 and looking forward to giving it a try. This video will be helpful at reducing the learning curve for my videography journey. Thanks!
@@briizcustoms9543 It’s all relative…. If I can get a $600 camera (new) for $250-300 used then I consider that a pretty good deal. I just keep checking back on their Used website when I am in the market for another lens or camera, and when I see a deal then I grab it.
Thanks! I am just starting out literally today.... aaaaand I bought a Nikon D5500 (shitty deal because I wish I would have watched this video first! However I am gonna plow ahead and make some dang vids! Next thing will be the lens upgrade! Thanks for the tips! Now I'm gonna go watch all your vids!!!
Thanks for that Peter, very informative!! Could you tell me why I'm getting a warning question marl over the shutter speed icon? When I press it, it tells me that there's not enough light, but even when it's overexposed, it's still on and won't let me record... very frustrating!! I have my settings: fr 1080/24p, movie q high, manual movie settings on (i tried off), shutter is on 50, ISO 200, and I'm using both incandescent and natural light indoors, and there's plenty of light...
Reset/format your memory card - clean image sensor; it should still record even if there's low light. Watch this ruclips.net/video/EYKFIM0sbx4/видео.html as I go more in depth!
Hi. I’m trying my old NikonD5200 out again. I have been using JVC LS300 with Rokinon Cine lenses and an Atomos external recorder, but the rig keeps getting bigger and heavier. So taking my D5200 out with 18-55 with VR (step up from kit lens) shooting custom downloaded flat type profiles or making in camera.. what ISO have you had the best results with increasing dynamic range. More than just dropping contrast and Sharpening, Contrast, Brightness, Sat and Hue... some cameras like Blackmagic in film mode and JVC LS300 in J-Log film mode prefer ISO’s that are above minimum for best dynamic range. BMPCC4K for instance is about 400 as I remember... the JVC LS-300 prefers 800. Especially for bright days. I gain an extra stop or more.. basically expose for shadows and post process to retain highlights. Have you any recommendations for best ISO even on bright days. I used to just assume always go as low as you can but I have proven to myself that with all of these log formats the engineers have figured out where the sensor is the happiest and it’s not always at it’s lowest ISO as odd as that sounds. Also any starting points between Neutral and the custom downloadable Picture Controls like Phtoto 10 Cineflat and Tassin Flat? Thank you!
Hi Peter! I own D5200 and i have a problem. I film in 60i and when i open my project in Sony Vegas it's just 24p. Maybe you can help. By the way you are a great teacher!
thank for this video, I am using Nikon D5300, can you please tell me which lens is good for b-roll video footage, close cinematic shots? thanks in advance
Hi. Thanks so much for the video. I have a Nikon D5200 that I purchased for filming cooking videos. My videos quality it's terrible. I have the 18-55 mm and the 70-300 mm lens. My biggest problems are focus and light. Even when I use a lighting kit the videos comes out super dark. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Elisa Montes I have a D5300, and one of the best options is the 35mm f1.8 prime lens. There's no zoom here, it's a fixed lens, but with an aperture of 1.8 you'll get far better results in every situation, especially in low light conditions. I recommend you this lens because I bought it a few months ago, and it works like a charm. It's really affordable, about 200 euros in Amazon ;)
Hi.Thank you for your great videos,I find them very useful!! One question: you shoot 1080;24p. Depending on region,Im in Denmark,Europe. Everything I read tells me to shoot in 25p when I am in PAL region. Is that right? :)
