These are all fantastic. As much as I try to tell myself that the 59 is the ultimate sound, blindfolded, I pick the brighter snappier tone of the patent number pickups of the early 60s. Your 61 is it for me 👍
I'm going to be stain and finishing my own Les Paul and gluing a neck into the body for the first time. I believe I will be going with your 59's or Goldies for when the time comes to crown it with hardware. If that is the price, on your site, for your repros in pairs, I think it's pretty reasonable considering the competition.
I have to say, I have been a whiz, premium PAF user for several years now however, after finding your video, and now listening to some of your pick ups, and certainly this video, giving me a background explanation, you have truly tempted me, and can expect to see an order for a pair of the 59’s I think your truly do have a closer than any other tone I have seen with yet still plenty of pliability and range. I’ve been playing a first for 49 years the same guitar however, I have changed the pick up so many times I can’t possibly tell you I am a tone chaser, but I truly had not tripped across your pick ups, at least not enough to pay attention, although hearing of them, not really thinking I should bother however, I now see you are certainly more than people are aware of, I will be spreading the word in Virginia as an instructor and a Berkeley graduate. I will truly make sure people hear about these pick ups through my networking and teaching and try to help you out. This is a great product and I love getting input on products like this I bought and have an original burst if you can say that I even owned a couple of high-end guitars bursts one of Kosofsky guitars, I have owned and also a few others, but I will tell you and all of them one thing is true your fingers are the tone you guys can only make the tools for us to use. If the people can’t use their fingers that tone will never work, no matter who is using it, and I think that’s some thing that is just not told enough, if people want to sound good, they have to practice and if they want to take a pick up of this quality to the next level they have to practice offer one will truly be wanting to see what it can do. My favoured electronics setup is based off what a Les Paul offers with independent vol/tone blocks on guitars that are not Les Pauls. I don't use a tone control for the bridge pickup, so normally have a dedicated tone control for the neck pickup and a master control for the entire instrument.
Thanks for the comment. There are many wiring diagrams and each performs its functions in different ways. The choice always depends on preference and technical tasks.
I think your 59’ with the correct pots and tone filters, can achieve other models tone and dynamics except PG, it’s Just my feeling, im planning to order your 59’, I’m from Mexico, rock&roll 4all.
I think it's wise that Alex does not speak up about this one way or another, as it will cause alienation from clients/fans at best or at worst a visit from the potato police. I'm certain that what is happening is being felt at all levels of Belarusian society, and my personal hope is that there is a better way forward beyond the current situation.
These Pickups are a masterpiece in sonic engineering. Yes. They sound wonderful and quite posibbly without peer. I know what i will be choosing...
