This commentary is way underrated! Such good points, analysis, and just enough play by play to hype up the moment. Smash needs more people like these dudes on the mic.
Seriously. I was thinking all the same things. Not to hate on the more "mainstream" commentators, but some of those dudes just turn their commentary into a podcast. It should always be about the gameplay on screen.
@@ultragamer4884 Well I don't even want them in top 8. But in order to not come off as some kind of hater, I will only say that I don't want to see their characters in GFs. We already had 2 Steves in a row for SSC in GFs, and we see Sonic in every other GF for every other major making the set last 80 minutes.
Nah Mr E always been like a second tier "top" player, he beats all the scrubs, he win locals, but he loses to all top players and can't win majors. Every once in a while, he'll beat a top player and just remind ppl that he exists. Been like that since smash4.
Things I noticed -Lucina hits with the disjoint on her sword and fox hits with his body so its way harder for fox to hit Lucina than it is for Lucina to hit fox -Light outneutraled Mr E so much which lead to Mr E being in the corner allot -Light putting Mr E in the corner allot lead to Mr E planking Light for a big part of some games -While getting planked, it was really hard for Light to take stocks which lead to Mr E gaining the lead and extra credit -In same said games Mr E ledgeguarded/edgeguarded Light really well and a combination of those two things lead to him winning those games -In the first set Light kept dashing into Mr E's shield so Mr E kept punishing with up b, through the first set and in the second set Light noticed and began topunish it -Light mostly took stocks while they were both on stage as he outneutraled Mr E, the games were this happened the most were the ones Light won Both players played really well Congratulations to Light for winning the event
You could argue fox has the speed to whiff punish disjoints, of course it isnt easy but when he does he gets crazy damage from combos+advantage state, so overall it kind of evens out in neutral. In other words, its just as hard to win neutral against fox as lucina as it is hard to win neutral against lucina as fox, lucina has the edgeguarding/ledgetrapping and fox has the combos+advantage state. One thing that can feel difficult as fox is killing outside kill confirm%, back air and upair are good but they arent as good in neutral as lucinas overall moveset which has high killpower. Still seems even between characters, light just seemed to adapt to mr e shielding a lot and started getting more and more grabs
Hmm, I get the whole disjoint thing but the difference is that Fox is a LOT faster in the air and can throw things out much quicker, so it def evens out. But yes, they both played really well!
It's interesting you mention melee, because regarding this set and the characters involved, it's not a very well known secret and if you pay specific attention to details you'll notice I have no idea what I'm talking about.
It's a double elimination tournament; losing two sets means you are out of the tournament. Mr E had lost a different set with a different player before this match. As you can see he lost a second time and so he was out of the tournament at second place. Light only lost once this tournament, in this very match, so he's entitled to first place.
Grands means 1 player from winners plays 1 from losers. W side has to win 1 set, a best of 5 to win the tournament and get 1st place. L side has to win 2 sets, 1 to reset Grand Finals and put both players on the same line, Losers, losing only once (a set) in the tournament, to play for the 1st place.
@@Allplussomeminushe did not guessed. He saw that Mr e was holding too much shield when pressured, at 5:39 he saw that the shield was low, that was either a shield break or a shield poke, it was the former.
Lol terrible take - he would’ve poked or broken shield no matter what with the up smash. Fox can definitely spam a lot of moves - but that’s also why this is perfect shield pressure

When was the last time you saw Fox vs Lucina in grands?
Not sure
Ultimate Summit 5 maybe?
We need a GFs like that at Supernova 2024, I really don't wanna see sonic or Steve in GFs.
@@ragames7320 Right? Those characters get boring at this point. (No offense to Acola or Sonix)

mr e becomes a top 10 player every couple of months
legit goes from beating sparg0 to losing to a non-pgr player in the same tourney lol

Have you seen second game from Mr E? That 138% comeback against two stocks is no joke.
????? Why would you think that?
Thnx
He hasn’t been playing because he was having difficulties moving to a new house.
He needs to stay until Zomba beats him and claims the title of all time goat
what a sick throwback set, bring me back to pre covid Ultimate days

Mr.E a monster since Brawl- but man when Light rolls up the Sleeves it's literally him going super Saiyan

that game 2 was crazy
this grand finals was refreshing!
Mr. E didn’t adapt but light did. Light was able to punish everything Mr. E did to counter him in the first set

E COULD'VE WON THE SET he had such a good lead in g2 of the second set
The music made this set way too dramatic for Mr. E, like anime-death scene dramatic 😂
can someone explain to me why mr e wins the first set, loses the second, but then loses all together???
In grand finals, the player from winner's finals gets priority. The player from loser's side has to win 2 sets while winner's side only has to win 1.

As soon as fox started to be patient he start to win

This match up is so bad for fox 😢
its a slight loss at most.

Yeah, he straight up guessed that one. Sparg0 does the same with those upSmashes. With Fox, you have to play like that though.
