Dr. T on point again!Thank you! If you're a stroke survivor, Tara Tobias is a wonderful source of help and common sense in things that become quite difficult after stroke.God bless, and Godspeed to everyone who has survived and made it here!
Thank you for your genuine sharing, doctor. Truly appreciate it. I'm helping my dad with physio, recovering from a stroke. Looking forward for more stroke recovery videos 👍👏👏👏👏👏
You are an answer to a prayer. My Husband just had a stroke on 11/26/2021. Still in the hospital. He will be going to LTACH for rehab. I will be watching your videos and subscribing to your RUclips.
I had a stroke in January of 2020 and my flexibility was doing well and moving more with therapy exercises (I was moving the arm, wrist and hand everyday) but midJune is when my shoulder, wrist and hand painfully tightened up.. I was told it was frozen shoulder .. even got a steroid shot in the shoulder but it hasn't helped .. I can visually see that the muscle has shortened .. I'm STILL looking for exercises that can help this
Sorry got sent by accident any way, I was told that my scapula was stuck all I know is that it was extremely painful to work it out, but persistence does and will pay off if one just presses through. I'm now pain free and keep my shoulder loose by doing streches much like the ones you have shown here with my cane. I did learn something new today and that was the streches using the door, thanks again for your time and support.
Dr. i had my STROKE last 31 Dec.2020. now i am suffering pain on my left shoulder, also i have left foot drop, after my 30 minutes walking really painful my knee, i am doing the instruct of my P.T to reach my Goal for my full reovery
🌺🏵🌺 Dr. Tara, love all your stretching exercises. Stretching over head and to the sides and really intense in all directions is the very best!! Also your funny doggy helps 😃😃 Have a beautiful week, Nina 🌸🦋🌸
Hi Dr Tara, once again a nice range of shoulder stretches which I find very welcoming and useful for a frustrating arm that clings to my side all the time. Many many many thanks.
I love your videos and appreciate your explanations. I don’t want to take up too much of your time but am curious to understand how immobility increases inflammation? I have some guesses but feel you’ll have an accurate explanation at your fingertips. Much gratitude for your the knowledge you share, Pamela
Ahhh, it’s making sense now, they put my arm in a sling when I was in rehab, so this is how I developed frozen shoulder. My doctor sent me to a physical therapist that said it was calcium buildup in my shoulder, he gave me a hug with my arms across my chest that broke the calcium and I never had anymore problems with it since ❤️
Thanks Dr. T, most of the exercises apply to early stages of the stroke recovery or spinal cord injury. I have full ROM on my shoulder without any pain, thanks to early cortisone shot. Good video, should help others a lot.
I never knew that a frozen shoulder could be caused by a stroke. My doctor found out that I had a stroke by doing a MRI, but we don't know when it happened, I don't have any of the usual things that come with them. But, I just recently had a frozen shoulder, I mean it was completely locked. I was in PT for almost a year and I still don't have complete use of my shoulder like I did before it became locked. What can I do now?
When I had my stroke two and a half years ago I broke my left clavicle when I fell initially, because of that it was decided by the hospital officials that I don't engage in physiotherapy until the clavicle healed I wasn't on any splint or brace but my left hand now is very bad spastic wise I think that it may be a little too late for me to get back some semblance of use in the arm because I was discharged twice from attending the physiotherapy sessions at the hospital what's your advice on my situation doc?
Hi Dr. I have no shoulder pain but im unable to rotate (windmill so to speak) my shoulder/arm 360. Again, no pain, it is like my shoulder hits a barrier as i try to spin my arm past my head . Does this video apply since theres no pain or discomfort?
I have similar issues. No pain but slight soreness when I use it for a prolonged period. I do have a problem lifting my impacted arm straight above my head and nearly impossible to lift up to the side parallel to the floor. Also unable to do a shoulder press at the gym on a machine. I get to a certain point before everything seems to lock up. Me thinking the gap in the capsule has shortened so much, or calcium has built up so much, that there isn't room to push through.
Very helpful for stretching the tight and painful shoulder. As the shoulder being elevated , difficult to maintain the elbow straight. Can you advise . l like to see your therapy dog. I make me calm🙂. Tqvm
Actually Doc. I thought I had frozen shoulder I was in a great deal of pain and couldn’t move my shoulder. So my doctor sent me to my physical therapist. He said it wasn’t frozen it was calcium buildup in the socket from not moving it for so long, were I was paralyzed. What he did was crossed my arms across my chest and pulled and I heard a snap. He broke the calcium. I was so relieved. Now l keep moving my arm so the calcium doesn’t build up again and I’ve never had a problem
good time doctor..would you please brief me about dry needling effects on spastisity and whether there is anypossitiveness in treatment of stroke patients?
Excuse me, but my partner she's just not able to move her arm away from her body due to the shoulder pain which is produced post stroke, it's been 5 months that she's been diagnosed with CVA and this has made a defective cycle. God now I'm desperate, she's losing the golden time and she can't move her shoulder because of the pain
Hey there I have been following you for some time now and find your videos super helpful. I run my own disability gym in Ireland, I am currently working with a stroke survivor at the moment. I am finding it difficult to get any movement In his effected ankle any tips? Would be greatly appreciated. Rachel 😀
My shoulder is sitting outside of the rotator cuff, I had a stroke in 1997 , lately I would say the last six months the arthritis on my right side, my good side, has been awful, and now the past couple of days my left shoulder , my bad shoulder has been in agonizing pain, it has been do long ,do you think I will require surgert?
Broke my wrist was in cast had surgery back in cast.cast came off then placed in a brace. My PT is not very gentle...she will warm up my shoulder with a clay heat pack for 10 minutes. Then she will have me lay down and push down on the front of my shoulder for 10 seconds then she shakes my arm to try and loosen my sboulder for half a minute. Then she takes my arm and lifts it over my head .....not the greatest feeling..😣....she also works on my wrist to get movement back....😣...she does not make me warm up my arm with any stretches. Feels like she is rushing through the treatment. She gave me a print out if stretches to do at home

How soon aftera stroke or seizure should one begin exercise ?
thanks for the question! This should come from your doctor. Many factors go into this decision.
Thanks

My whole right side is paralyzed an my arm is like this, the therapy is not working
How do I become a therapy dog 🐶
I had bilateral frozen shoulder after a stroke. It's much better after PT but it's still there. Like taking my bra off.
You don't get physical therapy; you need occupational therapy.
My freaking arm is killing me.
