Looks great, really like the burst. Did you ground the bridge post? I didn't see the wire.
Thanks! No I didn’t. Reason is the pickup instructions specifically tell you not to. I assume it’s because they are active and there is a risk of shock or short but that is just a guess
Kudos to you for trying a finish out of your comfort zone. It looks great !!
Thanks buddy
Nice vintage looking colour and finish.
Thank you
That guitar looks amazing. Great job John. Can’t wait to hear it.
Thanks buddy
Looking absolutely awesome so far John.
Thank you!
Looking great John, definitely levelling up on your previous builds!
Thanks buddy
Nice job, John. It really looks nice. I look forward to seeing the whole thing finished.
Thanks! you and me both lol
I didn't know you could spray stain with an air brush. Great results John. The body looks killer.
Thank you! yes you can, both the water based and spirit based
Nice work John, I love the coloring and the general work so far. Those are cool pickup mounts too.
Thanks Shawn!
Looks great, John! Nice work so far!
Thanks Jesse!
Looking really good!
Thanks buddy!
Yeah, I think that wipe on lacquer from what I've seen is very similar to the Chestnut Acrylic one. IF it is you could spray it on for a more level finish. The stuff dries before it can level, which is okay if you're going for a thick coat you'll later flat sand but not otherwise. I like your bursting technique a lot!
Thanks Chris. I think you are right. I did try and level sand it but went through. After that I just decided to spray it. I quite like the look of the wood grain through the lacquer but I don’t want brush marks lol
I must admit I did feel your pain when you broke one of the pick up surrounds
Great work so far John and its looking good
Surprised you went for a new colour from Crimson Guitars as you must have loads on a shelf in your workshop
Thanks buddy. Yeah I hadn’t noticed it had split until much later. Spot of ca glue sorted it out and now you can’t tell it was split. I’ve had the crimson colours for years.
The body's looking great! Looking forward to seeing the finished guitar. Annoying you had to remove the lacquer, I've bought some of that too. Not used it yet though. Cheers
Thanks! I’m sure the problem was done to how I was using it. The product itself seems great. I just ran out of time and patience to go again lol
I used active pickups on my entry as well. love the finish you put on that one.
Thanks! Going to go and watch your videos now!
They're a bit disjointed, but should be good for comedy relief..
Beautifully done and i like it when you fast forward, i can enjoy the sounds of your work and less the music
Thank you!
Great job John, good choice on the EMG pickups, you won't be disappointed!
I'm curious where you source your wood from as I'm looking but suppliers seem to be quite limited? Thanks
Thanks buddy! I get most of my wood from Yandles.
The sunburst effect is excellent John. Can I ask what airbrush / compressor you use? Looks like great idea for spraying with stain.
Thanks Mike. I have a Swann compressor and the airbrush is a really cheap Amazon special. I plan to upgrade at some point.
Really dig it! What size pump do you have to use for an airbrush like that? Giving me ideas!
To be honest I don’t know. I’ve got mine hooked up to a 30litre compressor. That is way overkill really lol
