- The R211 is a new technology train (NTT) New York City Subway car being built by Kawasaki Railcar Manufacturing for the B Division and the Staten Island Railway (SIR). This video shows the R211S variant, which is intended for the Staten Island Railway to replace the R44s that are running there. Interestingly, prior to these cars being sent to Staten Island, they are being tested on the mainline NYC Subway system. Enjoy!

Taken in June 2023.
The testers were getting a little excited with that G and Z train action
Love the Diamond SI route bullet on the R211S cars.
Cant wait to hear the announcements.
Going to miss those r44s
There is a old episode of sesame Street that came out around 1974 that has the old statan island trains before the r44s came along. It's lasts around 30sec but is really cool .
I think it's call listen to the train.
Those trains are the SIRTOA ME-1s.
Can you imagine going express from st George to great kills tottenville bound????? 😮😮😮😮😮
Righttttt
From ME-1s To R-44s To R-211S SIRT has a long way to go
It finally time to test those R211S on NYC Subway, but they not really yet to be tested on Staten Island Railway line they gotta do many testing phase first
The rest of the world is thinking 'They will look great once they're painted'.
Strange to see a R211SIR version is being tested in the main line this is gonna be difficult to ship the new cars to SI would be easier if it was tested their
Not enough track or storage space on SI for testing, and if there are bugs that need fixing, they’d have to truck the trains back to Coney Island via the Verrazzano Bridge. Best to test them on the unused Sea Beach tracks and ship them to SI when testing is complete.
Love the look of the newest trains however I feel the design could’ve been a little more distinguished from the previous versions
The couldn't fit the "R" on the route sign? 😛
0:08 wasn’t expecting that 😳
Why?
Idk
It’s already been a year since the R211S were delivered and it still hasn’t entered service. What’s taking so long MTA.
I was your fan since 2011
Thanks for being so dedicated!!

The new SIR bullet, now as SI, in spanish means sí, in english means yes. SI stands for Staten Island, the new diamond bullet means Staten Island Express, the round bullet means Local
MR hammers, I don't know if you know or not, the trolley NY state museum just received a Atlanta marta rail car there, check the trolley museum channel, I just watched it and I'm happy and amazed!
That’s cool
Why on the nyc subway and not staten Island
There Testing It to be on Staten IsIand
@@kevinseda3833I think they’re asking why aren’t they testing them on Staten Island lI may be wrong though
Because the tracks they’re running on in the video aren’t used in normal service, unlike the SIR where there aren’t any unused tracks that are good to test on
Because the SIR doesn't have any unused tracks so they use tracks on the NYC Subway that are not often used during regular service.
Did the MTA establish recordings for the R211S’s?
The R211S Is Doing Testing In January 2024. On Wikipedia
That will be the day g train 211T five car consist style 😮😮😮😮
Testing. Testing. 😀😀💚
When will this be Tested on Staten Island?
Maybe next year
@@AaronJrBrundidge oh wow.
R211S Z TRAIN!?
They should’ve moved the R68 to Staten Island and give these for the N Q W trains
That’s not feasible since the R68/A cars need to be outfitted with Cab Signaling, and given the age of the R44, R46, and R68/A cars, it’s better off to give long-suffering Staten Island residents brand new cars while the R68/A cars (which are still decently solid) end their service lives on the Broadway Line.
Woah
We’re is this
Sea Beach
I thought Staten Island was gonna get gangway cars?
