Easy to transport , quick to get in the air , flies good , looks great , with a good video . You guys nailed it .
Thanks Randall! I think this one will be a great fit for a lot of RC enthusiasts. We don't always need an 84" giant ;)
Camera crew was locked on!!! thanks for always giving a solid and thorough review of each and every plane!!! my go tooooo bro!!!!! 👍👍👍👍
She sure was! Glad she's so good!!!
I love how excited you are for the intro.
It's for you ;)
My wife thinks I'm nuts because I look at flags and tops of trees constantly for wind. You are right. You become really in tune with weather in this hobby. Good one Brian.
Thanks Mike - glad there's other weirdos out there just like me ;)
I bought this as my first rc plane and it’s been great. I’ve replaced the nose wheel with an aluminum unit, other than that its been holding up great. GPS on mine works perfect and finds satellites very quickly.
Have you ever ventured out 120meters to test the geo fence???? I'm scared of a fly-away, so I keep chickening out.
@@BrianPhillipsRC I have but not by flying out 120 meters (I chickened out too). I waited for GPS to lock, then walked out 60 meters or so, then flew out the remaining 60. Sure enough it hit the fence and return to earlier set point.
Nice impressive smaller plane. Seems to offer a lot for the price. Looks gorgeous flying. As always the information and video were top notch. Thank you for another enjoyable build and fly. God bless.
Thanks for watching! It is a very good pick, and reasonable for price point too!
Really well engineered 2s scale flyer. I enjoyed your low slow flying in close quarters
Agreed! Thanks Ahmed!
The excitement in the intro is why l love this channel. Plane looks beautiful. Have a great day
Thanks! I do it because I know you guys like it, and we are really excited to bring you some of the best RC stuff available today!
Yep.
Seems no matter how many bigger planes I fly, these little ones are still great fun.
Absolutely, but they're definitely not all created equally! This one flies great!
Great to see you finally got it! I had this for one year now and it's great. At first I bought the RTF version but sold it and got the PNP. Put an AR637T inside to have telemetry and also LED navigation lights. On 2s/1A battery it flies for like 7 minutes mixed throttle and just a fun an easy to fly plane. Isn't it great with something easy going now and then?
For sure! Very nice, and think PNP would be a great option for many too!
I don't understand why your videos are so underrated keep it up, they're great.
“Man that thing looks good” this channels motto
Oh yeah! Don't forget "guys" - that's second on the list ;) LOL
Hi Brian/ Meghan
Had mine for over a year only down side is the front wheel NO good for grass what I've done is move the rear landing gear right up front put a single wheel on the back it's now a TAIL DRAGGER. That beeeeeeep you get every now n then ITS A MINUTE TIMER.
Thanks Brian - the beep IS a minute timer - Awesome! Thanks
As for the tail dragger, did you pull the mains forward too?
Wow I love this plane I think this one is batter then the Mini Apprentice it’s not that big but I love the lights. It’s good for beginners.
The smaller package is a good thing for beginners, for sure.
Watched this twice and enjoyed your review. I like to know when a plane is fun, etc.. cheers 🍻
Thanks, and glad you're watching more than once ;) This plane is fun, but I'd probably not make any bets on the GPS working ;)
Hi Brian...nice video...thank you camera crew....man what a nice little plane....i want one...brian you make all plane look easy to fly...greetings...
Thanks Chris, and I want to make them look good, but this plane is easier to fly, my son flew it, and this was when the Auto-Leveling was not working right (Still not sure why...I must be doing something wrong???). He had no issues, and had a decent landing with some wind too ;)
Have had this plane for a while now. Initializing can indeed be confusing. No dance = no auto leveling. Disconnecting battery and starting over should help. Also gps fix should be faster on the subsequent flights at the same location. And to be expected it's not great in medium or higher wind. Otherwise it's a nice plane.
And the RTF has all in one electronics so it's not easy to switch receiver.
True. Love the way she flies, just don't think the GPS is necessary. I love the auto-leveling for beginners, but if GPS isn't absolute, I think it can offer a false sense of security.
Hi Brian
I went out and bought the ranger. Very pleased with the way it looks and the ease of build. I haven't flown it yet, the local weather is not too good at the moment. When I was trying to set up the GPS in my back garden I noticed my plan has got a green strobe which shines through the wing next to the GPS sensor You didn't mention that in your review. Did you notice a strobe on your plan?
I didn't mention it, since I never saw it. I will have to try it again! Thanks for the tip ;)
Hello, Does RTH work as well?
Another quality review . Hey will you be at RC fest 2021 ? Your videos help 5 of my friends dive into the Rc plane world 3 months ago . Now we are 10 planes deep and its growing every week . LOL ....
Awesome to hear. We will not be at RC Fest 2021. It would be nice, but I live in a free country, over here in Iowa ;) (Sorry, hope you get my concerns) also, and more importantly, we have a funeral on Saturday in Kansas....so a bit impossible to make it for Saturday, and impractical to make it on Friday ;(
We might be able to do this after I'm done with my full time job, but for now, it's pretty tough.
Sorry to let you down.
This plane looks great! I'd like to know if it's possible to bind it with a more advanced radio system like the Radiomaster TX16s. Can you swap out the preinstalled receiver?
You can, if you wish. Might take a bit of effort, but should be no problem.
Dude, so funny wat ya said bout watchin the flags for wind. Swear thats a evert day thing for me!!!😂😂😂
Glad that struck a chord! Seems to be common with RC enthusiasts.
Hey Brian & Megan,
Great video…. Well done!
I bought this 850 ( not RTF) flew it twice but the extreme weakness of the front wheel on grass was very disappointing so i sold it last week.
I found it a bit weak too, and have fixed it twice now, but if you're super disciplined, and careful, that seems to be the extent of the sucky parts ;) Great plane otherwise. I bet your sandy beaches are tough on it. Luckily, it's so light on it's feet.
Awesome Aircraft Will be in my hangar !!!! Great video guys
Good choice! Thanks
Nice little RTF plane. 👍👍 Great job!
Thanks a lot! It's a great plane, and flies wonderfully! Esteban came out tonight and we flew it again a couple more times - super fun, and flies very well!!!
In my experience the Thunderbolt batteries as well as the Rayovac have a bad habit of leaking. We are switching to Energizer as soon as we run out of Rayovac batteries. Just wanted to let you know so hopefully you can remove the batteries when not in use if you don’t do so already.
We had a ton of Rayovac leaking in the packaging, and we kinda got away from them...used to swear by them...then we went to get the cheapest garbage you can find mode ;) They're alkaline...so who care anyway - maybe Duracell or Energizer in important stuff, but otherwise - cheapest crap we can get for the RTF plane - LOL ;)
HI BRIAN IM IMPRESSED SIR. I HOPE THAT THE GPS MIGHT EVENTUALLY WORK. SHAME IF IT DOESN'T SAME WITH THE AUTO LEVELING. REALLY HELPFUL IF IT WORKS. THANKYOU FOR POSTING AND PLEASE THANK CAMERA CREW FOR FILMING. TAKE CARE EVERYONE 🇬🇧🗽♥️💯🕊️✌️
I hope so too...but even if it doesn't GREAT flying plane, and solid platform. The Nose Gear Bogey was a bit weak, but many Cenna's have had issues here too...
Good luck if you go with it, but don't plan on any more success with GPS than we saw ;)
I would wear out my label maker on that transmitter. Thanks for the review 😁👍
I'm not sure you weren't a victim of auto-corrector here, but if not, I'm not sure how to answer - so Thanks! ;)
En tu opinión que avión piensas que es mejor el Arrows Pioneer 620 o el FMS Ranger 850?...
I like the fact the nose gear wheel pops out At first I was thinking I'd reinforce it but it's probably better like it is If ya stiffen it it most likely break instead of just pop out Cool plane I think it's a bit over priced though I say throw out the GPS bring it down to $150 $175 and I'd think about buying one lol Not bad for a first plane over all though
Nice flying Brian Great job as always Camera Crew 🔥👍✌️
I did figure out my nose gear plastic broke part way up the bogey, and I threw some CA at it - solid now, and no issues ;)
What is the weight of the aircraft fully loaded with batteries. Why I ask because our country rules is any RC aircraft that is over 250 grams need special licence to fly.
Should a beginner invest in a better Tx instead of the RTF Tx. Will rates and expo make it more possible for success? Or use what you get?
Depend on if you're gonna stay in it for a while.
I'd highly recommend a proper Tx, like an NX8 bit.ly/3mbVuNB
Hello, I am thinking of buying this plane. but I wonder if on the RTH (Return to Home) mode then Is it circles at 25m of Altitude? did you try again later?
I never got the GPS to work, which for me was fine. I don't like GPS function on these planes, since I view it as a "marketing gimmick".
sorry I can't answer your question
Thanks for the video. I recently bought this model but so far I have no luck in properly pairing transmitter and receiver. Following the vague steps in the manual or the way you did it in the video yields no results. The LEDs on the plane respond by flickering when I put the transmitter in pairing mode but no further connection is established. No matter how long I wait or how many times I put the transmitter in pairing mode.
Did you have similar issues when first setting it up? I’ve already emailed FMS but any advice is welcome. Would have liked to take it flying this weekend, but that’s not going to happen any more I’m afraid 😂
Are you still having this problem or how did you fix it, because I am also having the same trouble.
Awesome review as always! Have you ever done a review of the Freewing F-14 80mm EDF? If not, that should be your next project! ;)
I have always wanted it, but never gotten it. MotionRC won't work with us, so we kinda have to keep from doing work for companies that don't appreciate us. It's frustrating though, since we'd work with then in a heartbeat, but they just aren't into it. Oh well...some day ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC Hopefully they will eventually see how good and honest you both are!
nice looking plane Brian ...dont you think its a little over priced?
Not really. Everything is crazy right now, so even expensive is "normal" right now.
I think HH would have a huge success with a RTF UMX Turbo Timber. No intermediate mode. SAFE to Experienced (AS3X only) and two rates just like it is now. No registration!
I agree - RTF Turbo Timber seems such a no-brainer to me, I don't know why not. Maybe they think they can't hit the price point, or some marketing garbage like that...I think people will pay for a good option like that.
Brian, is there anything in the pipeline to bring back the F-22 raptor in a 90 mm?
I wish I knew. Never had a 90mm Raptor
@@BrianPhillipsRC all there are is 70 mm and they are very hard to find in newer technology.
Sounds like a first 'ever' GPS plane.
Nope, there's been a lot of them, but I never like that feature. I'm not into oversimplification to the point of not working. I think I'd plan on it NOT working, but some will have great success, I'm sure...just not me ;)
Hello BRIAN
I watched your video and I would like to buy this little Plane
(I don't understand English speaking well)
Can you just tell me if the nose wheel (which I saw you straightening with a little doubt about its solidity) …. Is this a real problem!!!
I am able to land it correctly in 80% of cases… but we are not immune to one or two slightly hard landings…. Is it able to hold.. and do you think it can be repaired?
I think it might be an issue (nose gear strength) if you repeatedly have rough landings, but if you like this plane, the 1.2m Ranger might alleviate this concern, since the nose gear is a huge spring (...the nose gear bogey is ugly as sin, I might add...). Not sure you could tell, but this plane was flying on rails and fairly easy to grease in, so you might just give it a shot. If you break the nose gear, you could probably just fix it with some glue...I've had reasonably good luck with this in the past...
Have you considered the Ranger 1.2 in the PNF??? We have videos about it too. Might want to take a quick look before making up your mind.
Hello BRIAN
Thank you for your comprehensive and kind response.
So that's what I suspect.
I chose this size because in the evening when the wind has dropped, I like to do a quick little flight (with a plane that I can leave assembled at home)… I have other planes that are a little bigger which require more time to prepare
I found the ranger 880 in France in PNP version .. so inexpensive 135 €
In addition I saw that you could risk indoors and that it is a fun and fast trainer
Thanks again for taking the time to explain to me.
Pre flight is very important.
LOL - I guess on this one for sure!!!
Hi Brian
how does this plane compare to the umx turbo timber
It's good, but the UMX Timber is better. The Timber if similar sized, would be a better plane... This plane is a LOT bigger though, and this makes everything a pretty bad comparison.
I like my umx turbo timber but its VERY susceptible to the slightest breeze. I have lost and fortunately recovered it a couple of times, my eye sight is not so good after 70 years. I'm hoping the ranger will help
It is a bit better for visibility, but she's still not huge ;) I like that it's not too crazy fast, so it's easy to stay close, where you can see her beauty!
@@BrianPhillipsRC Hi Brian
thanks very much for your comments and and opinions. I like your channel, I am quite new to the hobby so a lot of your more advanced reviews are a bit advanced for me but still good to see.
Best regards
Barry
Looks like a good flyer.
Sure is!
Hi Brian another brian here)
Can you help please I bought this plane and the reciever only has ailerons and rudder plugged in...can't get motor or elevator working any ideas what to do ?
Question I just got mine and I was wondering if I could buy spektrum battery 1300 mah 3S 30c
Que tiempo de vuelo tiene
I can't remember, but if you check the time stamps on the video, it will show. I'm sorry!
No recuerdo, pero si revisas las marcas de tiempo en el video, se mostrará. ¡Lo lamento!
Does the transmitter has exponent settings ?
Looks great, like a Cessna 152.
sure does!
Good video Brian and C/C.
Thanks WRXS!!!
Brian if you want to get below the 250g zohd drift...
LOL - I think we're doing that one too ;)
does this have a camera bult tin
Another great video.
Thanks David!
This plane is fantastic, but costs like the "1200" so I already have the 1200 and don't change/increase the fleet for this reason 😂. Those electricity wires are a danger... But you are so good as pilot so it doesn't matter 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
RTF Nice this is what i am talking about good size RTF i just order it 1 on amazon right now now need to get RTF Jet need that kind size ^^ wait for the company make a jet that kind size with RTF then i will order it ^^
TRUE!
you got skill bro
Thanks!
hey brian just letting you know when i go to click on the ranger link for amazon it just says oops something is wrong dont know if you knew that
I think that link is good, but it's out of stock there - I'm sorry for this!
Here's another link you can try - amzn.to/2Xv3hiu - but I think it's just out of stock there.
Here's links that should work now, but PNP...
PNF bit.ly/3yM6Gq3
2S 850 bit.ly/3yIs67f
AR631 bit.ly/3pYNC3c
NX bit.ly/3mbVuNB
@@BrianPhillipsRC ahh ok i see now looks like your video got them sold out quick. i was just making sure thanks for the link
So I'm not clear on the GPS function. Does it work as intended?
I never saw it work on any of the flights we shared, or today. Also the Auto-Leveling mysteriously stopped working...and yet it still flies GREAT- Who would of thought?!?!?
I guess you'll have to use this as part of your consideration for this vs the Mini Apprentice, or another plane. I might recommend, if you like it, go with the PNP and just put in an AR631 for AS3X and SAFE...then it'll be ROCK-SOLID and still similar price point, but no [unnecessary] GPS.
Looks like this RC plane is no longer supplied with a transmitter and receiver. You must now provide your own.
Some of the RTF's are going to become BNF, and you'll have to buy the items separately. Other items will be RTF for some time, since they were made pre-RID implementation.
To be honest, the RTF's were just a great way to help new pilots get started, but now you can still make it happen...just more work, and more money up front, which is not good :(
I bought this plane for my grandson, I just disconnected the GPS, it was much easier to setup that way. Very easy plane to fly, if a six year old can fly it anyone can.....
GOOD CALL! I'm gonna do the same. I'm so glad it flies great, but kinda have the urge to add flaps ;)
I love your content i hope i could be like you one day i already have a channel but i got no views 😂
Thanks, and RUclips is very hard to get traction with. They have made it nearly impossible to start a new channel, and it's very difficult for us, even with over 100,000 subscribers to find any rhyme or reason to what "works"
Good luck!
@@BrianPhillipsRC thank you so muchhhh I can't believe that my favourite RUclipsr replied to my comments ♥️♥️♥️♥️
blimey brian .that was fast .SAYS Currently unavailable.
We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock.
NO!!!!!!!!!! I hate when this happens. Did you check for the PNP and RTF??? I had a couple different links on this plane...
Can someone please let me know if you can use a 3S on this airplane I have one and it does not have enough power to roll I’m just wondering if the 3s would work I’m going to try it anyway I guess
If you don't have enough power to roll, there's something wrong with your plane, battery, motor, or ESC. Mine was a RTF, but you might be okay on 3S anyway.
It will roll but it drops too much I can maybe get a couple rolls out of it compared to my other airplanes that’s not doing a very good roll just wonder if I can put a 3X in it without burning it up I’m gonna try it anyway thanks for your input
Its on my list
Fun plane, but don't make any bets on GPS feature working ;)
I got it and sold it immediately for a great price, tx issues with battery tray, plane battery compartment magnet didnt work, door had to be taped and cut each battery change, it was in safe mode working for 5 minutes, it took itself out of safe on its own and crashed. The rudder would work intermittently. Works great in the house, outside not even in close proximity. The worst experience ive had in the rc world. Hated it
all new plane coming out should be RTF much better for everyone even the Jet all company should do the same ^^
I like RTF, if they can keep them in stock, and keep quality high.
Will this run on 3s too?
If you look at the ESC it says 2-3S Lipo. I'm running 3S 1100 20C in mine.
FYI Brian. The Amazon link for the RTF no longer works.
Already!??!?! I think this happens when the item is out of stock at Amazon. Very frustrating for everyone involved. As soon as the RTF is back in stock, you'll be able to see it again.
Sorry Kevin!!!
If you want to get flying, we have links for the PNF, which is considerable cheaper, and will allow for adding flaps super easy, PLUS you won't have that goofy, nonworking GPS system to deal with.
When you pair it up with an AR631 or even AR630 (no antenna) - it will be rock solid, probably a lot better flying experience anyway. I wonder if the GPS didn't work and they pulled the RTF's when they saw my video - LOL....I would be floored to hear they were that responsive to my experience.
Anyway, I added up the prices, and of course less charger and transmitter, you'll be in it similar to the cost of the RTF for the PNP (I came up with $250.97 as I recommended through the PNF links OR save $5 for no antennas with an AR630 bit.ly/3l7Tp6q ). This would give you additional flexibility in control surface configuration, and of course you could add flaps for the cost of a single small servo... bit.ly/3DSFolx ...then you're set, provided you have a proper transmitter and charger for the battery I recommend, or you could use one you already have)
So it's easy to find, here's all the links...
Ranger PNF bit.ly/3yM6Gq3
Receiver AR631 bit.ly/3pYNC3c OR AR630 bit.ly/3l7Tp6q (Both AS3X and/or SAFE)
Battery 2S 850mAh bit.ly/3yIs67f (Same as the one in the RTF, I believe)
NX bit.ly/3mbVuNB (I recommend NX8, but that would kinda blow the budget for this build - LOL)
Small MG Servo for Flaps bit.ly/3DSFolx (This is the biggest advantage of PNF)
If you don't have a changer, I can get you some links, but if you want the latest and greatest SMART stuff, here's my recommendation (you'll need an adapter to use this JST battery, FYI)
G2 Dual Charger - S2200 bit.ly/398ohO6
IC3 to JST Adapter bit.ly/3zRqAkx
Nice L@@Kin Lil Plane, FMS Is A Great Company! Thanks PS You Could Cut A Few Slot Vents Into That Battery Cover?
YES, needs it too! Battery get HOT!
Oh it INVERTS GOOD AS WELL
Oh yeah!!!
Is it worth $60.00 more than the Sport Cub S. By Hobby Zone i think.
yeah, but some might want the Sub 250g ;) I like this one more, but it's also a bit more pricey too....but worth it :)

beautiful plane, umx timber is better bang for the bucks
Gotta compare the BNF to BNF, since this isn't a BNF, it's a hard side by side...
Closest you're gonna get is the PNF with AR631, in my estimation...but there's gonna be a bit of work ahead of you, and then you'll HAVE to add flaps too ;) Since you'll have the extra channel - I think that's the way to make this plane AMAZING. Flaps and AS3X (and SAFE too) would make it so versatile, not that it NEEDS flaps, can you imagine how slow she'd fly!!!
I think that beep is every min. of flight.
That's a great catch!!! Now I'll pay attention and see if you're correct! Thanks Crutch!
I am an owner of a FMS Ranger. Just the other day my elevator stopped working. Can someone please help me? Thanks!
I got the same plane but I'm sorry I don't know
Easy.... let fixed wing have a max of 500g before registration instead of lumping us in with quads..
Fixed wing aircraft shouldn't even be classified as a drone.
@@BrianPhillipsRC Agreed..unfortunately the FAA, CAA have defined anything unmanned as a drone. The 250g is ridiculous in the terms of the safety aspect as the pilot has less control in slightly windy conditions whereas my 1kg fixed wing handles wind easily ...Golf balls have injured or killed more people than any model aircraft..imagine if golfers were required to register their clubs and balls. PS Still flying and ain't registering..keep up the good work..
has a 50/50 review just as many 1stars as it does 5 on amazon .. litter over priced honestly
There's better choices, but it's a fun little plane...just don't get it for the GPS, and you'll like it.
