Had the same issue with Mini-Mil, just got fed up and went Tachyon. Great call. Thanks for the video!

Right! I know, I really need to make a video about why I do not like the minimil specifically. FYI, the tachyons fit slightly snugger in the toe box than the minimils. I found out if I take out the insole I have so much more room. Also, realize that they do loosen up a bit. If you wear the boots with a thick sock and get them soaking wet, do a little run or hike, they will loosen up some. Regardless, I like the boot more now that I don’t use the insole good luck in your purchase! Thanks for watching!

    The Army has physical therapists?!
I thought ibuprofen, water, and a fresh pair of socks was their answer for everything.

It would, if you took a knee. However, people often forget to do so, and as a result, they decided to hire a few physical therapists 😉

Need more companies to make foot shaped boots

I could not agree more!!! I really like the company Topo Athletic. I’ve been trying to convince them to make an army boot, but they have not yet. Maybe if you reach out to them as well, it could happen.

Looking for a boot to replace my Belleville mini mil. Think I’m gonna try these out next. I have hundreds of miles hiking Tahoe national forest land in the Sierra Nevada mountains with my Bellevilles and they’ve been incredible. Wish they were wider tho, and after a long day I sometimes find I could use more padding in them.

These for sure will provide more padding, but I would not expect them to be wider then the minimil. In fact, these were somewhat tight on me when I first got them. Nevertheless, after wearing them drenched a few times, they did stretch out.

I got two other style Danner and they are way more comfortable than these Tachyon .Zero cushioning anywhere by comparison .It feels like putting your redwing irishSetters on after wearing Timberlands all day .

Great review. You need to take your talents within the SOCOM physical therapy community. I’m USAR in SOF now.
    Cheers 🍻.
    Ooh and respect former 11B!

      Hmmmm….
I’d be lying if I’d say that this has not crossed my mind.
I think at some point in my military career, I’m definitely going to try for that. I have a few other things in the works right now, but that is definitely on my list. Perhaps at some point, we may have to reach out to each other privately so I can learn more about it.
      Nice job 11B!!
However, full disclosure, I was 11C….. making big booms. 82nd Airborne…. No Ranger, but not for effort. I hurt my knee and got kicked out of pre-ranger.
It Inspired me to become a physical therapist and to get back in the military to help others prevent mistakes I made with my training.
Cheers to you as @The508ranger…. Who knows, maybe we will see each other in the small Army world. You at least know what I look like!
And if you haven’t already, please check out this playlist and pass it along to your USAR pals.

I’m an 11.5E, would you recommend I go EE with these or would 11.5D likely accommodate me?

When in doubt, I would always go with wider. This should allow your toes to splay more as nature intended. I have something like a double, maybe a triple E, and I found the boots a bit tight for me. Long story short, go with the wide. Good luck amigo!

Do you go a size down or up ? Thinking about getting a pair.

Hi there. So for most shoe companies, I wear an 8.5 to include Altra and Topo. For my military boots, I consistently wear an 8.0. For whatever reason, military boots typically run larger than average sneakers. In Xero, I consistently we are a 9 because they run small. Now I know what you’re thinking, in the video, you’re probably like “that guy is probably on steroids because he looks huge“, but really, that’s just the camera angle. I’m actually rather short at only 5‘5“ and so do not have a massive foot. Please don’t be intimidated and don’t be shy to share/ like this video 👍👍🇺🇸😉…… happy Thanksgiving!
