I love Marc, gone way too soon, he had so much more to give us. I wish I was around when he was, I'd have loved to have seen him perform or better yet, meet him 😢❤ I wish he got more credit than what people give him. I think he would've fit right in with the 80s had he lived. To me, Bolan is just as much as an icon as Bowie is.
Chantelle, that's the biggest shame.... all he could have done and never got the chance. I quite agree, I think he would have evolved well into the 80's. I never saw him live but I do remember watching this and other shows in the series..... 💜❤
The content of the show when there weren't musical performances made one wince, but the showcases themselves were vital to musical climate of the time.
Bolan & T. Rex rocked with both body and mind. Who are the real children of the revolution ? It's deeper than you think, few have understood his lyrics. "Metal guru, has it been, just like a silver-studded sabre-tooth dream ?" What does that lyric line mean in the song "Metal Guru" ? Bolan lyric analysis in my COMMUNITY section with 90 thumbs up (no down)! MANY aha-experiences guaranteed. He was a modern poet.
@@telegrampam Everyone can have his/her own interpretation ofc, but Metal Guru is about Bolans thoughts about a creating force of some type (Metal means totally clean, Guru means all-knowing). His own words about it are here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Slider The song is about celebrating life as such in the universe, basically. He wanted to make the ultimate party song with this song, and imo succeeded. A lot of his songs were inspired by Lord of the Rings, he gave me a signed copy and told me to read it and then read it again, Still got it. I spent time with his parents when I was a young kid and didn’t understand the stardom thing, but I remember lots of girls outside the house, even though he didn’t live there.
I remember this show. It introduced a few new acts and I remember seeing the Boomtown Rats on Quay Street where Granada TV Is being photographed with Marc. So sad that within a few weeks of this he was tragically killed. And he had experienced a bit of a lull in the mid 70s and this show was a bit of a comeback. 🥰
I haven't checked for a while, but I'm not aware this series ever got it's much needed official remastered release on DVD ? [I read rumours of an impossible to find Japanese DVD, I'd guess bootleg ?] Shame if music biz lawyers and accountants will continue preventing it ever happening. Crap quality dodgy downloads are all I've found so far. In 77 we hip punk rock teens thought Marc was a bit of a pillock. But the series was essential viewing. Since then Bolan has become elevated to my top 3 music and guitar influences. Mick Ronson is number one. Bowie is equal third with Bolan I'm keeing second place vacant and reserved in hope I can still find an artist even better inspiration than Bolan and Bowie..
Ronson ahead of Bowie...? Are you mad....?! That's like putting Accrington Stanley above the mighty Spurs....! 😁 SURELY the other way round...? And anyway I'd put Bowie & Bolan at equal No 2, with Ronno at 3. The no 1? Obvious really... he's from Liverpool....!
That's right.... LITTLE JIMMY..! 😂 Incidentally, i have a Granada Ventures Ltd DVD of Marc's music performances from the Marc show - pretty sure at least that is still available... Catalogue no is Netwerk 7952374. Cheers, Ian Zapper. 😀
@@telegrampam Yeah, got that DVD, and the CD. Marc had a top backing band at that time.. Though, what a lot of us want is a boxset DVD of the complete shows, with all guest artist spots intact. That's probably the stumbling block with rights lawyers. I remember the drummer in our band crying his eyes out in the back of our car all night when we heard Marc was killed. I came here to see Marc and ended up with David singing my favourite song of all time for the first time. Love both of them
That bit with the Jam is brilliant. Love you Marc❤️❤️
Keep a little Marc in your heart
What a wonderful clip with David Bowie & Marc together! So sad he tragicaly dies so young. :(

Awesome. Great Documentary
Came for Bolan and got the Jam as a nice surprise!
Marc gone way to soon but never forgotten Rip lovely soul
This is amazing.
When Marc Bolan introduced the sudden the jam, I was very upset and surprised.
I remember this Show!
Very different indeed for the times. Marc Bolan was a terrible loss to the whole music scene. 😥
Wow this is a little gem of rare beauty.
Never seen this Bowie performance and for The Jam to pop up just made it more special.
Thanks for uploading
Yes the JAM were one of my favorites going underground in the city
I went out and bought "All Around the World" after seeing this in '77.
Oh what a lovely New Year surprise. This is wonderful. Thanks so much for sharing this.
Super ... hope my YT Bowie songs make him smile from far far away.
"One of its great characters" - that's for sure as love him or loathe him, Bolan was a one-off......
Who could possibly loathe Marc? A great bloke.
I loved him. So beautiful and eccentric. Went too early.

thank you so much for sharing this. the first performance of heroes and marcs last television appearance- amazing.
This is brilliant thanks for uploading
Bowie's Heroes absolutely crushes me, the tears just GUSH.
A time when talented people didn’t take themselves too seriously.
Marc Bolan certainly did. Never was a man so in love with himself. What a pompous twat
Talented people should just act stupid like everybody else then?
What an excellent, absolute gem of a vid.
Thank you. 🤟❤❗❗❗
Thank you for this.
I still can’t believe David is gone. He was such a great looking guy. Just assumed he would outKeith Keith. RIP.
I was born this year I wished I was a teenager instead in77 must have been amazing
Beautiful.
Lose were the days used to love watching mark on magpie ITV after school
Remember watching this at the time....
It IS indeed "a treat". Better than that a CLASSIC 🙏😍
Amazing, awesome, thank you!
