Excellent video editing and composition, what a joy to watch - it felt like I was back in New York! Great work and thanks for sharing!
Thank you Ryan!
@@WhatashameMaryJaneNYC very political place 9 times out of 10 there is so many opinions on the streets about the city and how it should be ran. I like my home country but NYC is my favorite part of the US
most apartments in Los Angeles, at least older buildings like mine, don't have a thermostat, but at least we can turn on/off our (usually) natural gas in-wall heaters
I'm happy your video came up in my feed, MJ. It's been a while. I usually shop at Trader Joe's. Prices there are much less than my local supermarket. Price of eggs has gone through the roof! Really enjoyed the video...looking forward to more!
Hi Judith! I’m happy to read your comment :)
@WhatashameMaryJane they are only 10 to 15 min apart but New Jersey is different. NYC always populated but New Jersey fun to walk around and different people like Little India
@@WhatashameMaryJaneI know how it is with Here Be Barr
@WhatashameMaryJane Upstate NY is Canada very cold but I think Turkey is some what similar to Italy
I love the editing on this video, a nice mix of B-roll, narration, and live shots. Great music choices too. I've watched it several times just for the editing value but your message comes through right along with it. I'd like to see more of these "a day in my life - with a message" videos. Very nice!
You really got what I was trying to do with this video Jeff. I’m experimenting with various formats to see what direction to take and your feedback is very useful. Thank you!
@@WhatashameMaryJane Keep it up!
I dear! Always nice your videos. I was in Louisville for job last end of October, I am still missing the warm welcome I experienced from the people around me. Despite this difficult time, US people showed great energy and let me feel again at home...All the best for you both!! Ciao. Laura
Fünf Mal geschaut, dieses Release. Ja, gefällt mir ausnehmend gut 😌
I'd love to know your recipe for your homemade sauerkraut!!! It looks good and I need to eat more of it.
Nice to see you pop up in my feed Mary Jane, hope life is treating you as well as it can. Ciao!
Thank you, I hope you too!
@@WhatashameMaryJane I guess u like NY it's a great city if u find work there but too many homeless people and I don't like Subways. I was there from Nov to Jan but I did visit New England
@@WhatashameMaryJane I will always love Southern California cause I like jobs there and the weather. I worked for Food Delivery businesses.
Hi Mary Jane, nice video, cheers
Grande!
Grazie Luca!
Chinatown for fresh veggies usually around canal or behind the bridge. its the same product but its so much cheaper. actionkid did a video last year about it. the bridge is near the Confuious tower.
Yeah but how is the quality?
@@WhatashameMaryJane its actually pretty good. You’re buying them pretty much at wholesale prices.
Nice to see a day in the life of you and Ali! Lol at the NYC heating, my sister lived in Sunnyside Queens for a bit and there was a heat rod in her bathroom like 10 cm away from the toilet that was on the whole winter. You could not sit more than 10 seconds without getting uncomfortably hot😅. But to answer your question, here in Amsterdam 6 organic eggs cost 2.69 euros. And they are so delicious, deep orange colored yolks and not too large either.
Oh that sounds like delicious eggs 🤤
(I also have a heating pipe 10 cm from the toilet..!)
Ahah, nice video! I eat eggs with sauerkraut too! Then, next time, try it also in the way of Belluno (one of my favorite ones and very simple to do): Firstly cook lightly the onions, cut into small pieces. Afterwards add sauerkraut and flavor it with caraway. Finally, you eat it with poached eggs. Besides, if you even have some ogórek kiszony (cucumbers in the polish way) at your disposal, then you may call you satisfied. ;)
Uhuu that sounds nice! I will be careful not to heat the sauerkraut too much otherwise I’d kill the good bacteria. I also need to learn how to make poached eggs: I like them but never been able to make them properly!
Sauerkraut… Beide? Ich dachte, das wäre eher so typisch deutsch 😅
ruclips.net/video/VXgOMgWcf6k/видео.html die Eier
@@Qwerty8 Nee, wieso? Richtig lecker! :)

Very nice video about your life in nyc! Thanks for sharing beautiful lady😘😘😘 xox
Nicea video and perfect background music for New York with a lot of hunger, having breakfast
Much love from Florida! 🌴
I believe we have some of the most expensive organic eggs in the country. If every household owned 3 chickens, there would be virtually no need for the egg industry! :)
Love that idea!
Cheapest supermarket organic eggs here are about AUD 10/ dozen (or about USD 7). 'Free range' are less expensive but not necessarily organic. Adelaide 🇦🇺 is fortunate to have a good supply of farmer's markets, though flooding elsewhere in Australia this year has raised food prices everywhere.
I'm from Jersey and now live in Texas. There's no tax on food bought at grocery stores in both places. And organic eggs right now are between 6.99 and 9.99 at my local grocery store
You mean there’s no tax at all or that it’s added to the pricetag?
@@WhatashameMaryJane no tax at all
Hi Mary, this morning when I was driving to work, I heard on the radio that there was an egg shortage in the U.S., and that prices were going through the roof! (not sure what the reason was though).
They were saying that things had got so desperate, that people were smuggling eggs into the U.S. from both Canada and Mexico.
This Mexican illegal trade in particular... was a real worry, due to the diseases that are sometimes present in
these warmer central American climates, and also because of the lack of proper health measures associated with those countries.
But anyway... chances are that you might hear something about this yourself, if it becomes a public health issue... I'm guessing.
As for the price of eggs here in New Zealand... it seems to be typically around the $5 NZ mark, or just a little under that.
These are the free range, cage free variety, which are available through mainstream supermarkets.
I guess that there are more expensive organic alternatives, which you can get from specialist retailers, but I haven't checked any of those out yet, but typically you're paying at least 30% more, I would think.
Forgot to mention that this was for an average sized 6 pack of eggs, by the way.
I'm in NJ, buying only pasture raised eggs and the price is $6.99 I read the reason is b/c of bird flu there's a shortage.
living in westchester county newyork every expense of especially dairy products its exctally like livig in nyc i hope you and your husband enjoy living in the city
What a great breakfast idea...scrambled eggs and peas....a way to be sure to get vegetables in one's diet
The only vegetable in that meal was from the sauerkraut 🤔 Despite being green, as far as I know peas are legumes and don't have the nutritional properties of veggies :)
not sure why they say NYC is the city that never sleeps. Most places are closed or empty after 12 even on weekends. The real cities that never sleep are in Asia , I remember when I was in Seoul or Tokyo at 4 am there was still many things open, I was amazed.
Eggs went up a lot recently in NYC, from just over $2 to 4.50 for a dozen, due to some supply problems, hurting restaurants business, but I believe problems will be resolved in a few months
True for wholesale prices. I didn't notice any change in retail price though.
Avian flu has caused something like 40 million hens to be destroyed in the US
The jetlag is one way to appreciate moving home again, I can relate....fighting your body is like fighting the system! 😝
What a selection of feta! I make my own, t in our supermarkets here in the Midwest they normally just have bags of crumbkednfeta cheese..and that is usually dry..no brine of course.
You make your own feta?
@@WhatashameMaryJane It is not terribly difficult. It is possible to use mail order dry culture at about three dollars for two gallons of whole milk. However, when I was making yoghurt and overheated the milk as I let it sit overnight, I found that I had cheese similiar to feta. There are also two types of cultures...one used for milk up to a certain temperature and the other for high temperatures. Whether to use one culture or the orher depends on what type or cheese one wishes to make. In conclusion it seems that yoghurt can be used as a culture not just for more yoghurt but also for cheese as it is classified as a low heat culture. If interested there is a wonderful youtube serues. Maybe it is called Cheese52...a very charming lady. Home Cheese Making by Ricki Carroll is great too. You may be lucky and find a cheap copy on ebay. Be aware that some of its recipes have errors...not a unique feature to just this book of recipes!
Hi MJ, in Italy I usually find Organic Eggs (6 eggs pack) at Esselunga for little less then 3€, may be the best price in the whole north?
Great to see you again! 😊
6 organic eggs cost around €2.69 in Germany.🥚
The thing about the heating energy waste is strange.
Shouldn't you be able to regulate your own heat?
Even when sleeping this heat?
You should rather sleep at 16-18 degrees (Celsius), anything else would be too warm for me.
And heat the heat out of the window......That's bad...
Hi Christine!
🥚that’s cheaper than expected
There’s no regulation here for heating efficiency in the buildings. The only regulations are for minimizing temperatures that landlords need to guarantee to the tenants. And yes, the heating keeps going at night
That is crazy with regard to the thermostat...eighty degrees in the building? No wonder there are so many nudists on the New York couchsurfing site.
Ha!
Hi Mary Jane 😃 .. I lived in San Diego , CA for many years where the average high temperature is 68-72 year round & the low is in the 50's. This means no need for air conditioning or heating .. just crisp , fresh air. The drawback ? It's really expensive to buy or rent. ✌️
Wonderful if you can enjoy it! I would literally go crazy with no seasons 😅
@@WhatashameMaryJane it’s natural for us native born southern Californians.

Nice neighborhood you live in. Spent my first 20 years there.
Hi,
May I ask you what do you do with that nicely equipped wall with tools?
Wood working ?
Yes
About 2 USD +- per dozen here in the Philippines. A little bit higher than 6-7 months ago
Hi MJ... Did you have more snow back in your hometown in Italy when you were a child? Maybe enough to go skiing nearby? I wonder if we can go skiing in the Alps in 20 years time.
Oh, we used yo have much much more. On the Alps nearby we’re facing serious crisis because of the lack of snow: big investment have been made in recent times for ski facilities and now they’re not having enough snow to open them for big chunks of the winter.
It's true: Winters aren't what they used to be. It might we the worst of all in NW Europe. In the late 90s we had snow a few times per year and different periods of freezing temperatures with lots of ice. Now that only happens every few years! We're much more likely to have spring temps around 15°C or so in the middle of winter. Spring and autumn are now more like the old summers (nice and sunny) and summers are dry and very hot.
Keeping houses at 25°C seems like madness to me. What a waste! I don't even think it's healthy.
I like the music. I have good memories of listening to these slow and warm jazz songs during bright sunny winter days in the past. It fits very well.
You were asking the price of organic eggs. I don't know about other country's, But in America, it's like the automotive industry when it comes to food and everything, Your mileage may vary.
Sauerkraut recipe please!!!!! 💜💜💜
Hi, I was wondering since you've been living in NY for some time, do you know where can I buy venetian biscotti,?? I am looking for Baicoli in particular. I have tried Eataly but no luck. Eataly does not carry anything venetian. I hope you can help. Thanks.
I've never seen baicoli in NY. I'll keep an eye open for them. Sorry I can't help
@@WhatashameMaryJane thank you anyway!!
Im american and i never eat eggs...ok i have deviled eggs occasionally but thats probably because they taste like mayo not eggs
Beautiful video, I had to rewatch the opening shots a few times - just perfect with the music and sounds of water filling the kettle. Really soothing. 6 large free-range eggs cost £3.70 ($4.59) although they can be got much cheaper buying mixed-weight packs of 10-12 - we eat a lot of eggs and tend to have heavier breakfasts (full English!)
I guess in England eggs are even a more popular food than in USA! And even cheaper… 🥚
I don't agree on 4AM walks. Italy is much safer in this regard.
I have walked the streets of Rome through the night from 22:00 to the 6:00 the next day, when I had to fly out of Ciampino.
After midnight the city falls asleep, there are very few cars on the road, let alone pedastrians. I haven't met anyone on foot then, mostly just rare taxis.
People who live on the streets are all concentrated around Termini and don't jump or yell on you.
In Toronto, which is still a bit safer than NYC, you really need to know how to defend yourself in the nighttime.
i am in west toronto and have my house thermostat set to 21 celsius all year
i get my eggs, cheeses and meats from a mennonite farm
eggs are $5 (canadian) for 12
Are you a toronno mans
I really like Italy, but the breakfast was difficult because it was it was sweet. I would save my dinner and have it for breakfast.
Why don’t you like sweet breakfast? Genuine question.
btw, idk how you can eat so much in one meal, I'd be full eating half that amount, and I think we're about the same size 🤷🏻♂️
Crazy the amount of energy wasted in a lot of cities in US! Once States were considered world wide the place to look at for efficiency, reciclyng and energy conservation, not anymore...
Really? I think I’m too young to remember that
I thought it said "Leaving New York for an Italian"
talk to Cash Jordan he can get you into a better apartment. honestly brooklyn is coming and the rents are better especially with newer builds.
Better than my apartment? Impossible! I love my apartment it’s wonderful!!! Plus I love the heat! I was talking about waste of resources, not about unpleasantness
Are you Italian or Russia?. Accent seems more Russian but both would be awesome
uova salsiccia e fagioli a colazione è una barbarie. cappuccino e cornetto o focaccia
Ecco, appunto
I enjoyed this video. It made me hungry and want to make an Omelette (or as my dad used to call it, when i was wee....Cowboys Egg. That was in an attempt to make us eat the omelette, by giving it a cool sounding name haha)
Anyway, EGGS!!! Yes, well, for years, i became fixated with trying to find TASTY farm fresh eggs. I grew sick of having bland, tasteless, supermarket eggs. Second half of 2022, i started buying my eggs from local Butchers. They are locally produced Free range eggs, but they are way tastier. for 6, it would cost you US$2.42. Its not much cheaper than i could get 12 "free range" eggs from the supermarket, but, as i say, they are bland.
That's a challenge I've never seen anyone taking, but it makes much sense actually. It's happened to me to find here and there eggs with a heavenly taste that made them so much different than the average eggs I eat, but I've never understood what's the secret there. If you find out...please share it 😁

I guess we won't be seeing you at Denny's Mary Jane. In America we have a saying. "If you can't stand the heat, Get out of the kitchen." If you don't like the way American housing does its heat. You could always move back to Italy. It's nice to see you and your husband together. I was beginning to wonder if you were still married.
She wasn't complaining about the heat, all Italians love it. The point is inefficient waste of energy that comes with the central heating for the whole building.
