I have driven these for 8 years without a major accident of any kind. I have been hit by others that failed to yield/ hear my horn, however no injury whatsoever thankfully. After a while you just get really familiar with them and it's like another extension of your body.
Justin Ferguson seen someone drive one of these for 10years and he was cocky crash with a rack , experience is a factor but also the experience can have accidents
I've been driving such equipment for over 10 years and NEVER hit anything, caused any damage to anything (other than a pallet, still not the product just the pallet), and was never hit by anyone either.
We use those crown walkie riders at my job and im not officially trained but can easily operate these in a safe manner even when i use the speed boost. They're the only thing that keeps me coming in to work hoping to get a chance to ride one i just enjoy it.
The first time I drove one of those, I took out the corner of a pallet, AND THE PALLET WAS STILL STANDING :0 It looked like when you yank out the tablecloth while there's still stuff on the table
As a person who operates an electric pallet Jack at a grocery store pretty often. I can confirm that crashing one can cause some serious damage, they are pretty much mini trucks/fork lifts.
A few years ago I crashed a pallet jack into a pallet of milk crates and caused hundreds of dollars in shrink. Everyone at my store still remembers and they continue to call it, Jared’s great gallon smash

Although I do prefer Raymond double walkers I will use crown single walkers for loading, and every time I forget they for what ever reason when you lift the control arm they will cost for a rather long time unlike the Raymond which is equipped with an emergency brake when the control arm is raised or lowered.
Jungheinrichs have both the tiller brake and two E-stops (one on the ROPPT and one anti-press-up on the tiller handle). However, the tiller brake on the Jungheinrich can be rather annoying when driving in reverse, as it has a tendency to erroneously activate when you've got the tiller in a certain position. I've had a few instances where my ROPPT would 'bunny hop' and stall like a manual car, even when I have the tiller in the correct position.
I had coworker lose 4 toes because he wasn't paying attention and had his foot hanging down and it got caught between two electric pallet jacks colliding end to end.
He definitely overthought it… Ive done it I remember a few times where I’m day dreaming got turned around and forgot which direction to hit the throttle in because there is no brake on those only momentum… just come to a complete to stop and give it a little push or pull you should be ok
As an operator and trainer for 20+ years.. what is disappointing is how everyone brushed it off and back to work. No near miss investigation? No root cause analysis? No care for employee safety.
Some are designed to be ridden on as well. At my workplace, all our PPTs (as we call them here in the UK) are ride-ons, and have retractable platforms that turn them into walkers. You have to take care with them or they'll become warehouse destroying machines.
