Hi, Lauren! I would love to see a video on how to up your shoe style without relying on heels. So many of us can't or don't want to wear stilettos. I've seen very few stylists and fashion bloggers get into this topic without either showing too trendy shoes or basically just saying "wear heels, get over the discomfort."
The tip about the shoes made me laugh and reminded me the movie "Silence of the Lambs". Hannibal Lector made a snide remark to Jodie Foster's character (FBI agent) about her cheap shoes when she first met him. Now when a serial killer notices your shoes are less than ideal....you might want to upgrade!
I have to be honest here. Most of these tips are very helpful. I especially agree that a fierce pair of shoes makes the outfit, style is important, and that fit and flatter is paramount, but I think the title is . . . a little mean. I'm sorry to say that to me, the title and the tone of the video sounds a little schoolyard bully-ish. Maybe "why your style may not be working" Or "what to do when stuck in a style rut" or "style fixes" would be more tactful video titles. Just my opinion. Also, on your number #2: most professional stylists agree that it's okay to incorporate more than one style in your oufit - and in your wardrobe. But I respect your difference of opinion even I don't agree with it.
Silver Sun Fairy I agree, the title and tone are condescending and bullying. I clicked as I was curious if it’d actually be helpful. Same old. Move along, nothing to see here. 😘💚⚡️
Some people don't like Laura's outfit. I don't care because I don't judge her on her personal style. More power to her. I don't like the judgmental way of looking at women. The woman with the *casual* blazer was probably smart and talented. Why should she be obligated to always look professional and polished?
I'm not sure I can't take style advice from someone who pairs the knit sweater my nana donated to the thrift store with prostitute stockings and blue short shorts..
You are totally on to something with the shoes. Do you know how many items in my wardrobe I don’t wear, due to the lack of the RIGHT shoe? It’s ridiculous... I am on this ~ up the shoe game!
I'm sure we have days where we put on an outfit and feel less than ideal, or that 'this outfit sucks'. I think she's using 'sucks' in a playful manner - if you look at the her clients they tend to be happy and changed for the better, and their egos don't seem bruised or anything of the sort. I have days where I feel my style sucks. Nothing wrong with using that language (I sense humor in it), but it certainly could rub some viewers the wrong way. Anyways, I found this video helpful! I tend to get the outfit almost right, but have not invested in the right style of shoes to take it the rest of the way.
If anyone's looking for "classic" shoes to splurge on, the best ones imo are the YSL Tribtoo pumps, or the Louboutin Pigalle pumps :) both are very comfortable and go with a lot of outfits
I clicked on this video because I thought I might learn some useful tips and maybe find a new person to sub too. However I only found the same old advices delivered in a very snarky manner and by a person that might want to take her own advice. Definitely won't be subscribing.
Kacey Kent Thanks for that, Kacey. Looking for styling tips and this lady is really not working for me at all. One could say, she's not my style... Ha. Sorry.
Lady Wytch You are welcome hon. Take my advice, Ashley Brooke won't disappoint. She is jovial and has a very pleasant voice to listen to and actually cares about her subcribers. Her style is great and even if it is not exactly your style ,you can definately get some inspiration from her.
I checked Ashley Brooke. I don't know what she's done to her lips, but they don't look like they close properly. Very odd. In the first video I looked at, she was wearing a white lace shirt over a black bra, with camouflage shorts and a Chanel shoulder bag. And her background "music" was less music, and more insane drummer. I won't be looking at any others.
Thank you for your suggestion. I didn't know her and she is so interesting, smart and fun. It's not just regular advice, she is really inventive. Thank you again !
What is your shoe advice to girls that hate heels? I feel my shoe game is letting me down because I hate heels and would love to know what a good alternative was. I'm kinda short too (5' 2") so wearing flats makes me look shorter but I just can't walk in heels.
"Find the style that helps you reach your goals in life. That helps to bring people you want to be in your life". The most helpful style advice in years!
I love how blunt and to the point you are! I love your tough love, big sister approach to how you give advice.. I don't know why some people seem to have a problem with the way you deliver , saying your a bully and have an attitude. I think you make it fun ,and don't sugar coat, and try to make sure our style game is something to make us feel and look good. I love your videos Lauren. You look great..wish you would have stood up to show us the whole outfit!!!
the tips that stuck out the most for me was tone, fit, and flatter. i see a whole lot of people on here that need to get the fit/flatter part together..
this was great, the plateau is very real for me i jst renewed myself like a month ago after literal years lol actually thanks to your vids too . im now more into soft color blocking & darker patterns where i used to be edgy & "all black everyday" too . good stuff 🤙🏾
Great advice. Although I noticed that quite a few people are taking the word 'suck' to mean more than it does, which is quite puzzling to me. I embraced the title light heartedly because I use that word all the time if an outfit isn't working and I need to change something.
Great tips. I'd love a video on the deep talk about the matching(recognising tone of garments etc). I mean, obviously, we can wear what we want and express our style- but not if we are trying to get something that matches the culture of (insert purpose here) :p. I would love seeing more of the clients wardrobes too! Loved those videos.
#3 fit. Nothing fits me. I'm built very odd. Can't afford to have everything tailored, so I tend to go oversized, which sometimes looks sloppy. IDK what to do about that as long as I'm not wealthy.
Do you have a suggestion on what the girl wearing the tweed jacket should have worn instead? That would make an interesting video, style up a model to have a similar mock-up outfit on, then show her after you’ve restyled her outfit to be better matching and appropriate for the occasion. Anyway, this was a helpful video :)
#5 was kind of an epiphany for me. Alrighty, time to swap chunky leather boots and checkered flannels for more "grown-up" stuff... It's kind of flattering if everyone thinks you're 17, when you're actually 25, but now I really wanna be taken serious and that's probably not going to happen if you look like a grungy tumblr teenage girl :D
Oh my goodness you look so beautiful and youthful. I love your hair pulled back ❤️❤️ good point about distinguishing fit vs flatter --I'll keep this in mind
Your style don't suck if you personally love it and feel comfortable in it. For instance, I don't like your style and the outfit you have on, but you feel gorgeous so that's what really matters, right? Same with the rest of us ;)
1.Sucky shoe game: GUILTY! 2.Color /matching: Ok 3.Fit: still trying to force cuts totally wrong for my body type FAIL! 4.Mentality: totally understand it's power..that's why I'm watching 5.Plateu???? Holy CRAPP!!! I'M 40 NOW!!! Need a different STYLE!!! mind blast moment. THANK YOU!!!!! Mad love for you **subscriber****
I have learned so much just by watching your videos, thank you some much, looking and feeling good is very important, appearance does matter and people do judge you just on the way you look
Well, maybe the tip #4 is not useful for us watching the video because obviously we care about style an that's why we clic on the video. This is more a tip for everybody else, those who hate fashion and wear old cheap jeans anytime anywhere
I am subscribed and love your videos! I like longer hair on you too it makes you look younger...JMO. I SUPER enjoyed watching this I had to rewind a few times...lol you give some amazing tips throughout. And I am old enough to be your aunt...LOL. Thanks for the great content Lauren.
You're cute, and I appreciate the effort you put in to make a style video. Unfortunately I disagree with your definitive idea about style. My opinion is that style is individual and one should not feel caged in to rules. I'm not trying to bash you...you have some sound tips. I would just suggest that you think a little bit out of the box when it comes to personal style. It would "suck" if we all looked the same because we all followed thed same rules. Let's encourage each other to be comfortable in our own style without worrying that others will tell us that out look "sucks". 😍😘
Tina Powers I don’t think it’s “unfortunate” you disagree, many of us feel the same as you! As you said, it would be boring if we all “followed the rules”, to me, rules are made to be broken. Personal style is subjective. It’s *personal*, who has the right to tell anyone their style “sucks”? May not be to your liking, but it’s how the person feels - as the saying goes, feel great, you’ll look great! 😘💚⚡️Jet
Leah Veal - you have a valid point as well. However, if you did need to hire a stylist I think kindness and compassion for others is paramount. A stylist who tells you you wardrobe “sucks” is uncaring. Therefore might not help you find what’s right for you, but foist their taste on you. Believe me, word gets around fast if someone treats clients poorly, isn’t helping them be comfortable in their skin finding their personal style. I know this from experience both high profile (film, video, print, red carpet, celeb, etc) and private clients (again high profile or not), seen so many talented who simply have no care fall by the wayside. 😘💚⚡️
Jet Kuhn I totally agree with you! I've been a stylist for 5 years. What I've noticed is that most people are super insecure and put themselves down a lot. It's very sad. It's one of the biggest surprises I've had working with people thus far. And as you said kindness and compassion is paramount. Having empathy and patience with clients and knowing how to bring out the best in people should be like the top skills being emphasized not just staying on top of the trends, knowing the best fabrics and knowing how to dress a person according to their shape in my opinion.
I agree with J Melinda that you look good with your hair back: I agree that there are better words to use than sucks, but it did get the attention I imagine you want. And I do like listening to your videos. Unfortunately, with the voice comes a low-level background rumble, that makes me feel queasy, so I can't listen. Perhaps you could re-record, without the noise?
Mostly pretty solid advice for sure but I'm gonna jump in and disagree re: shoes. Of course if you can afford it, a great pair of high end boots or heels that really suit you are gonna elevate yr look. But you don't have to spend that money. Sometimes I've spent it on beautiful handmade things, and found that I just don't like wearing them as much as the pair I got for a fraction of the price on the high street. Sometimes the pricy ones are actually less comfortable! I have expensive brands I like & trust, but recently I got an insane little pair of mid-height stiletto leopard calfskin ankle boots on the high street, and strangers are coming up to me a lot and complimenting them. And I can walk in them for days. Let's not go with that myth that only expensive shoes are good. It's just not true any more. You can always get great things at Topshop, sometimes H&M, and even M&S (for the UK girls) are actually killing it right now. On a separate note, Lauren, your heels and tights are fuckin' exceptional in this video. So good.
One of your best videos, Lauren! Plus love what you are wearing! Although would love to see the whole outfit so next time please give us a little twirl :)
Many of your videos have interesting topic. However, the way you speak and sit is just so weird... You speak super slow and you sit super stiff I just can’t stand hearing and seeing it. Just speak in normal speed and with your normal tone and sit normally... you’re not a robot or Siri
but also.. everyones style is completely unique and style is subjective a.k.a you can't really tell anyone that their style sucks??? LMAO you can not like it - but if they do wtf does it really matter lol
"i can get down with the low" ur not rly focussed on quality or anything just.. high end brands like.....? HERMÈS PARIS? logos look either cheap or like performative tasteless wealth; also maybe use music with ur transitions shorts and tights went out in 2015
Barbara Cossentino LOL you don't suck but maybe your style does. Don't confuse the two. You are not your style, however it's an element in your life that you realize can use some updating so that's good.
Thank you Leah. Quite often we don't realize that we need to pay a little more attention on how we dress. That is why I love to watch Lauren. I appreciate you so much for your comments. Many blessings.
Bunch of crybabies in the comment section. Obviously if you had to watch this video then your style sucks. Myself included. How about take the advice and stop whining all over the comment section.
I understand what you are saying, but there is better way to say it. Your video is way too dismisive and annoyingly agressive. There are more important things in lfe then style. I'm into fashion and a luxury industry professional, but come on, we have to stop tormenting women and telling them they suck. Because of clothes. And appearance. Just stop it.
I feel like your points are good but that word "sucks" is not the right one, for what you want to say. Because rules like these are no must.
Hi, Lauren! I would love to see a video on how to up your shoe style without relying on heels. So many of us can't or don't want to wear stilettos. Agreed
Your post is negative and lacks visual inspiration on how to fix.
Uh i dont agree here.I know people who are obsessed with being "stylish" and it is simply not happening for them..they try too hard and its visible!
The main reason why my style sucks ...I m poor man !!!
Some people don't like Laura's outfit. I don't care because I don't judge her on her personal style. More power to her.
I don't like the judgmental way of looking at women. The woman with the *casual* blazer was probably smart and talented. Why should she be obligated to always look professional and polished?
Withy Octopus because having brains is awesome, having brains and being stylish in your profession that’s some next level stuff. Lol
You look so good with your hair pulled back. Helpful video.
Thank you :)
I'm not sure I can't take style advice from someone who pairs the knit sweater my nana donated to the thrift store with prostitute stockings and blue short shorts..
That outfit is awful
She got damn tassels on her shoes!😂😂😂 I'm sorry, but I wouldn't be caught dead girl!😥
Tip #2
Your sweater doesn't go with your outfit
C RD well, dang...hahaha... wow!
The sweater is lovely and stylish but maybe it shouldn't start World War 3😉
Either you get it or you don't. Personal style, that is.
I happened to adore this look.
I love it
oh yes it does
You are totally on to something with the shoes. Do you know how many items in my wardrobe I don’t wear, due to the lack of the RIGHT shoe? It’s ridiculous... I am on this ~ up the shoe game!

I clicked on this video because I thought I might learn some useful tips and maybe find a new person to sub too. However I only found the same old advices delivered in a very snarky manner and by a person that might want to take her own advice. Definitely won't be subscribing.
Tiffany Blaho me neither.
Tiffany Blaho Check out Ashley Brooke, she is sweet and actually has game in terms of style.
Kacey Kent Thanks for that, Kacey. Looking for styling tips and this lady is really not working for me at all. One could say, she's not my style... Ha. Sorry.

You are absolutely on point with this one. Thank you as always!
Watch KarenBritChick! She's awesome!
Hana Steinlaufova I just clicked over from her video to here! Karen is a rare treasure ✨🙌🏾
She is brilliant! 🙂
Hana Steinlaufova Thought of her straight away! She breaks every point brought up, is fabulously stylish. This woman could learn quite a bit... 😘💚⚡️
Thank you for your suggestion. I didn't know her and she is so interesting, smart and fun. It's not just regular advice, she is really inventive. Thank you again !
Do you own a mirror?
It's all about mixing high with low! Love this
Look at you, Ms. Thing - love the stockings!
What is your shoe advice to girls that hate heels? I feel my shoe game is letting me down because I hate heels and would love to know what a good alternative was. I'm kinda short too (5' 2") so wearing flats makes me look shorter but I just can't walk in heels.
Becca Bradley cute sneakers, have you seen the new Gucci trainers that everyone's wearing now? The were everywhere on FW
Love your outfit! Thank you for all of the amazing advice and inspiration, always! xo
These are such great tips. Nothing kills a persons style more than a bad mental attitude towards fashion!

YES!!!! Thank yooooooooooou Lauren!
Def going to invest in a few pair of classic high end shoes
I just found your channel. This has helped me immensely already to not not suck.
You are absolutely brilliant! So glad I came across your video👏🏻
Why is she getting so much hate?!

Really nice tips. My shoe game is pretty basic. I need to upgrade it.
No style sucks, the context of this video is the only thing to suck.
I would never take stule advise from a person dressed like an 8 grader with mom's shoes on. Provocative name of the video does not help

I don’t know what I do to shoes, but I can pretty well destroy Dr Martens, much less pretty little things with tassels.
I really appreciate your honesty,helps me a lot 😻

Great tips!! Also, love your outfit and your makeup is so on point! What's the product on your lips?
The title should have said "How to improve your style."
I have learned so much just by watching your videos, thank you some much, looking and feeling good is very important, appearance does matter and people do judge you just on the way you look
First video, loved it. You are hilarious and this was helpful! Thanks ❤️😊
Shoes 👏 are 👏so👏important👏
Help! What can I do to find decent looking footwear. I have a size 10 foot, and it is a D width! There are no stylish shoes in this size!
When I read the title I was like wow thanks you damn right
Guys be better than her like there's too much hates in the comment section it hurts
You're cute, and I appreciate the effort you put in to make a style video. Unfortunately I disagree with your definitive idea about style. Tina Powers That's a good point but then people who think like that would not be the best fit to hire a stylist in the first place.
Tina Powers I don’t think it’s “unfortunate” you disagree, many of us feel the same as you! As you said, it would be boring if we all “followed the rules”, to me, rules are made to be broken.
I hate matching styles - it's old-fashioned & boring!
Loved it! Amazing editing & set!
Thanks! My dream team video crew is back. Reunited and it feels so good.
So good.
You look like my mom when she was a teenager that's scary asf O_o
You have great tips. Make a video on ideas for people with small budgets.
Where's your outfit from on the thumbnail??
No, it doesn't suck.
Nice video! I recently subscribed to your channel and I find it very useful. Do you have any video about mum jeans?
Your make up looks amazing
when ever she sees if it dos not fit i always thinks that she gonna say you musta quit ha ha ant its suits the point
i love this video...thanks for sharing
One of your best videos, Lauren! Plus love what you are wearing! Although would love to see the whole outfit so next time please give us a little twirl :)
People really got offended with the title of the video 😂
Love it...
Love your videos! I would so rather have one dress that I had to pay a tailor to adjust than five that are only just ok.
Very helpful. Thank you.
Regarding the first tip, how can we find shoes that are confie yet stylish? Can flats be stylish?
Greta Dancu
Short answer: Yes.
Yes girls, look into getting some flat mules, so chic
Many of your videos have interesting topic. However, the way you speak and sit is just so weird... You speak super slow and you sit super stiff I just can’t stand hearing and seeing it. Just speak in normal speed and with your normal tone and sit normally... you’re not a robot or Siri
great video!
Do a video on shoe fashion essentials!
Love, love, love ❤️
but also.. everyones style is completely unique and style is subjective a.k.a you can't really tell anyone that their style sucks??? LMAO you can not like it - but if they do wtf does it really matter lol
You must acquit....
"i can get down with the low" ur not rly focussed on quality or anything just.. high end brands like.....? HERMÈS PARIS? logos look either cheap or like performative tasteless wealth; also maybe use music with ur transitions
shorts and tights went out in 2015
I just realized that I am an old lady that sucks. Thanks for this video. I have a few things to think about.
Good God, I thought the title of this video was probably kidding around, but you are serious? Girl, no. Etiquette is fashionable.
Bunch of crybabies in the comment section. Obviously if you had to watch this video then your style sucks. Myself included. How about take the advice and stop whining all over the comment section.
You are so pretty
U r Awsm Lauren!! Love ya 😘😘
Lmao y'all are too sensitive.
Lol that she thinks she can tell me my style sucks when she is wearing that hideous jumper and leggings.
The title I so rude.
This outfit you're wearing is an example of style that sucks.
Were you trying to be ironic ?
Aw you didn't stand up. Wanted to see your outfit properly.
I am not digging that outfit at all.
Good video. Pretty lady..
Sorry but the shoe shes wearing is not cute. At least not 2me
