    This video would be better if you inserted images of the outfits/items you are talking about.

    Yes Lauren, this is so good. Recently I was at a conference and saw a woman wearing black but she threw on a bright pink blazer (maybe j crew and so well tailored) and it drew me to her. I couldn’t stop staring at her so I went up to her and told her how amazing she looked. She was so happy I complimented her and it made me feel good too. Women supporting women moment.

      Amber Burnett that was so nice of you to tell her that😊 Everyone likes to hear that they look nice; we women should do that for each other.

    One of my favorite conversation starters is my yellow blazer or my fuschia pumps. 😄

    Great tips! I like adding a quirky vintage pins on my blazer or cute shoes. Also my big curly fro helps me stand out. I am an observer and it helps me break the ice without being weird.

    This was very helpful. This month I have an event to go to for employees at a company I work for. I’m currently trying to put together an outfit that stands out. A great way to get noticed is to warmly approach people and ask what they do for a living then compliment them . I found that to work well depending on the event people are attending.

    Great points!! Working in tech, it can be very tough to get people to initiate conversations since many are extreme introverts. What I find is that I tend to wear some bright color but just dressing well with correct fit, jewelry, style for my body and leveling it up a bit can really make people feel at ease. And always, a genuine smile and compassionate eye contact.

    Also, I changed my wardrobe a lot thanks to your videos and challenges. It did help me a lot to attract people and respect me without having to rely on words, haha. I'm such an introvert.

    It is so upset that your tips don’t work in Russia. Nobody tells stranger woman how amazing she looks on the party. People can stare at her, don’t compliment her. But may be these tips really are helpfully an events for employees.

    Wearing all black and just pairing it with statement jewelry or bright colored shoes, is my go to easy method for looking put together and interesting. It also helps in getting the attention of someone I’m interested in speaking to. Great tips! 👍

    This was fun. I work in a very conservative industry but add a piece of turquoise or vintage jewelry to my outfits most days. It cheers me up if nothing else.

    I decided to test out the use of color, as a means to get friendly attention. Since I was on a road trip by myself, I felt my results might be more accurate than doing something at work.
    On the trip out of town, I wore blue jeans with some nice tops that could be layered with a necklace. I stopped to eat, get gas, rent a hotel room, etc. ... Nothing special happened. Most conversations were typical. The best comment I got was someone liked my necklace.
    On the way back home, I wore red jeans with a lime green tshirt, no necklace. The colors were bold and the combo made me look fat. ... It seemed like everyone wanted to talk with me. People asked me about my day, they asked if they ould help me, they wanted to tell me about their traveling experiences, they wished me a nice day and actually meant it. I had full blown conversations with people I didn't even know, and I was interested in what they had to say.
    ... I was amazed. It was like living in a completely different universe.

    I’m actually not a fan of getting noticed at all but...I have this big oversized sweater with a silly saying on it and I can’t tell you how many people have stopped me to talk about it. I have had long conversations with strangers who I might never have met.

  • @nessieb8460
    @nessieb8460 6 лет назад

    Yes! I’m no fan of chit-chatting w/ strangers, so I’m for anything that sends a message to all without me having to speak. Off the top of my head, an interesting example of this approach to style is Queen Elizabeth II: talk about someone who knows a thing or two about being noticeable in a large entourage, dressing to convey subtle clues, and working an audience without wasting a word.
    I actually hit subscribe b/c of your anti-style series (even though I confess to being something of a dated Debbie, lol... ) I love it that you don’t do silly handholding, nor Pinterest-quotey empowerment woo-woo that helps no one, but tell it straight and give actual advice for the real world.
