Can't wait to see new buses on some of these routes. Respect to u for keeping everyone updated on this as not much is provided in this community on info
Thanks! I won't be looking forward to the new buses on the 61 and 261 though, I was hoping they would retain the 261 with its MMCs and put some other hybrids on the 61
Since the new bus type hasn't been announced for the 61 and 261 it would make sense for them to order the new E400EV like they did for the SL3. It seems like TB are looking to replace their entire fleet of diesels since the 314 and B14 are also going electric next year. In addition the 336's hail & ride's are being replaced with bus stops.
Yeah it would make sense and hopefully more orders for the new E400 EV get placed, I wasn't expecting the BD11 to be more popular than it. While I was in Bromley North waiting for the 261 in the video I made sure to film a 336 too, just in case I want to make a video on all the smaller bus changes I haven't covered at the end of the year.
@@MostlyBuses1 I hope so too. Seems like stagecoach are more fond of the new E400EV's and Electroliners rather than the BD11's and vice versa for GAL. Yes that's a good idea, I'm glad the 336 change is happening because I used to take that bus to school sometimes and on the H&R section it would stop every 2 secs on Brookehowse Road and it was difficult to hail the bus due to the parked cars on the pavement.
@@cooldude12-q9b yeah the only change to most routes were PVR increases which is great although it's sad to see the 261 and 61 get electrics. I was hoping the 61 would get Stagecoach or GAL EvoSetis which I knew was extremely unlikely but oh well
Yeah MB could’ve gained the 61/261 if there was space. Say like if DT won the 233 back along with any R routes like the R2 and R11 then they could’ve then had space for at least just the 61.
Thanks for covering the TB changes. I am excited to see what would be ordered for the 61 and the 261. It’s great both routes are having a PVR increase. The routes are fairly busy nowadays as well, so it is a welcome addition to these routes.
Someone else mentioned the new E400 EVs as a possibility which I think would make sense given that TB are getting some for the SL3. And it's great to see the 61, 261 and other routes in this video getting pvr increases. I think the 61 should get a frequency increase too though
I'm glad both routes are getting a PVR increase and new buses too. 61 users will be happy because they've been putting up with old E400's and sometimes even E200's for ages. I wonder what will happen to the E400's after the electrics arrive. I hope they keep a few for the 246.
@@nathanw9770 I'd say the E400's seats are more comfortable than the high spec Stagecoach ones but everything else will be an improvement for passengers. The 61 got a frequency reduction from every 15 to 20 so I would like to see it go back to every 15
@@MostlyBuses1 I'm fairly tall and wide so I do sort of prefer the high back seats on their new buses, just wish they had the same padding as their diesels and hybrids. Oh that's a shame I'm not sure why the 61 got such a big frequency reduction but I'm glad the 261 got an freq increase instead.
@@MostlyBuses1 Subsequently WSDs never been pulled the main route, to promote fake discussions about MMCs/WHVs using 22, 88, 171, 172 and 188. Also E400EVs seem to be on the 148 more frequently these days though I doubt the 148 would be converted to electric given its contract was just renewed few months back
@ yeah possibly. just the 148 and H98 right now. it feels like yesterday seeing V lose both of their LT routes within less than a year though I'm fine with AH operating the 9 and QB operating the 211. QB has the one of the most LTs amongst all garages which makes it nice to see a variety of registrations. I miss the LT6xx series though, now I only get to see them when I occasionally run errands at Hayes. I personally even foresee First potentially getting rid of the LTs to save costs as it would be expensive to operate just a handful of them, perhaps they would dispose them off for other operators to take like how Stagecoach took the LTs now used on the SL3 or more recently Metroline taking some of GoAhead's oldest LTs (ex SW and Q) displaced due to NP's loss of the 76 to convert the 17 to full LT
@ltz1437 it's such a shame that V lost so many of its LT routes but yeah it's good that older and newer LTs mix on the QB routes. I kind of wish the 267 was run from QB even though TF (and FW) are perfectly placed for it because we'd see a lot more different types of LTs on it.
@@MostlyBuses1 yeah I wish the 267 runs from QB too, would be nice to see the last built LTs run in central london. however I feel QB is full for now and TUK would rather use the space for other routes which led to them getting the 133, 211 and 306 to name some (yes I know the electroliners are boring but at least I enjoy 133's occasional LTs). else I wish they move the current TF LTs which are the newest 19 in TUK's fleet to QB in exchange for LT19-37 like what Arriva did for most of their oldest LTs up till LT229
I would imagine if the 166 was retained by Arriva London. It would actually convert into a full double deck operation for at least 5 years until 2030 using existing double deckers from route 405 when it will be using new EV buses. That's just my prediction of the 166's contract on the 30th August 2025. if it's going to GAL Metrobus, it will be using new EV buses for 7 years or existing single decker buses for 3 years. Or if it's going to TUK, it will be using existing single decker buses for a 3 year contract. I already know that all of the bus routes that are operating from South Croydon Bus Garage will be converting into EVs. except for route 410 when it will be transferred to the garage from Thornton Heath garage.
@KorayKaragul it could also be a 7 year contract if Arriva retain it. I hope it gets DDs although I'm not sure if they're needed. Surrey County Council did publish plans to increase the 166's frequency so it's likely that the shorts to Banstead will get extended (Mon-Sat and Sunday as well)
@@MostlyBuses1 Yeah I already know about your second comment. But I agree with your first comment about the route getting extended to Epsom Hospital at all times on Mon-Sat evenings and Sundays (Inc: Public Holidays) to make a proper link from Croydon to Epsom.
@KorayKaragul hopefully they will. There needs to be more cross border links and TfL hates short workings except for on the 38 and the tube ofc so I can definitely see them getting rid of the 166's short workings soon. I think that's why the tender hasn't come out with the rest of the TC routes
