    I think the Thailand one was suppose to be the opposite of racist. A guy put in effort to go out of his was to make a child happy, but the mom was scared of the appearance. He does it a lot because he's a good guy. They compared that to an ugly looking product, saying appearances are deceiving because the product is good.

    • @chihauhaun
      @chihauhaun 7 месяцев назад +1

      I think you're right. Sometimes meaning can get lost in translation and us Westerners have a tendency to think things are racist when they really aren't. Like Dragon Ball's Mr. Popo or Pokemon's Jynx. Anime in particular is a goldmine

    • @duB420Grass
      @duB420Grass Месяц назад +2

      Yes, but by comparing that to an ugly looking product, especially one the same color as his skin, they are then implying that his appearance is ugly because of his skin.

    They got the truck loaded to the top with cases of beer, ready to go back to the station, when one of them said, "Oy, what about the shielas? Better grab a bottle of plonk!" So they went back into the pub, came out with one half-bottle of wine, put it on the truck- and the truck collapsed! First time I saw that ad, I laughed so hard I almost dropped my beer!

There was another one about tampons, men talking about which type the women in their lives prefer, it got ripped off the air pretty quick, again old lady wowzers thinking men should not be involved in lady issues. Those adds were breakthroughs at the time. Men need to be involved to understand their women better.

So they produced brown toothpaste which could seem weird, unusual (20 years ago), just plain bad and they personified it with a "brown" man which was perceived bad, weird, plain bad by the girl's mom. We know what the situation really was. Many balloons just show this is genuinely great person that helped a lot in the past just perceived incorrectly - like a brown toothpaste could be perceived. As an example, the Ireland Rugby Team represents the entire island. Whereas there is no Ireland football team - there is the Republic of Ireland national football team, and the Northern Ireland national football team.
