The Aussie ad I liked the best was one from W.A. where some working guys were loading up an old flatbed truck with Emu Bitter beer; they were wearing the "Aussie 3-piece suit," i.e. shorts, beater & thongs, and had obviously been working their butts off & had a bit of a thirst. They got the truck loaded to the top with cases of beer, ready to go back to the station, when one of them said, "Oy, what about the shielas? Better grab a bottle of plonk!" So they went back into the pub, came out with one half-bottle of wine, put it on the truck- and the truck collapsed! First time I saw that ad, I laughed so hard I almost dropped my beer!
Hahahaha i absolutely loved the last ad. I lived in Perth in the late 80's and early 90's and the WA Salvage ad took me straight back 30+ yaers. Well done Ozzy Man
Yup I agree. The multiple balloons seem a bit creepy at first but that's just that he has been rejected a lot. People expect toothpaste to be white and they are trying to sell brown toothpaste. They're saying, "it wouldn't be right to reject a helpful guy on the basis of his brown colour and so it is with our toothpaste."
Exactly. Toothpaste looks different but is very good. Man looks different but is very good. You need a twisted outlook on things to think this is racist.
Yes. I think he may have not read the text. It spoke to our hearts, and indirectly against racism. In case anyone's having a hard time understanding: Just because he is a black man, it doesn't mean he isn't kind to others. Just because the toothpaste is black, it doesn't mean it won't do the same as white paste. It may come off as "racist" if you really want it to.
Thing is, in America we have a tendency to view things from other countries with the lens of our own countries issues. So what may seem racist here isn't the same elsewhere.
They played that ants pants ad throughout the 90's here in Australia quite a bit! Ps Ozzy you should show the world our old school TAC ads we had here, they'd have people mortified
Oh to be an echidna in the 80's. Eating ants off of hot women in underwear. Those were the days. P.S- That Thai ad wasn't racist. At least not by their cultural standards. The message was don't judge by someone's appearance, i.e don't stereotype. Especially since this probably was the 90's or early 2000's, when this discrimination was way higher. The amber alert ad has the same message. Don't be deceived just because it's a woman. Women are predators too. Appearances can be deceiving.
I think that ant video went way over Ozzy Man's head. She actually laid down so the ants would crawl on her. Shes smiling because it's working. Then she was waiting until they got to a certain spot, then told the ant eater to sick them. It makes the whole commercial a lot more 🤣
The panty liner add was so so funny at the time. Sadly you had wowzers back then complaining that men should not be talking about womens products. There was another one about tampons, men talking about which type the women in their lives prefer, it got ripped off the air pretty quick, again old lady wowzers thinking men should not be involved in lady issues. Those adds were breakthroughs at the time. Men need to be involved to understand their women better.
In W.A. they had a pad commercial where some good looking shiela apparently had just killed her boyfriend, and there was a pool of blood on the hardwood floor as we heard police sirens approaching. She got a pad out of her purse & mopped up the blood with it, then met the cops with a smile, because there was no evidence!
Oh I thought it was an underwear ad and the underwear was ant-proof. Wait are the ants attracted by menstrual blood? It's even more confusing as a panty liner ad tbh
Technically that speeding ad is from Northern Ireland..... but their roads are just as narrow and bloody scary (from an Aussies point of view) as the republic. Every time we go there to see my husband's family I shit my pants going along their roads 🤣
What a misconception regarding the toothpaste... So they produced brown toothpaste which could seem weird, unusual (20 years ago), just plain bad and they personified it with a "brown" man which was perceived bad, weird, plain bad by the girl's mom. We know what the situation really was. Many balloons just show this is genuinely great person that helped a lot in the past just perceived incorrectly - like a brown toothpaste could be perceived. So the bottom line: Brown man = great, brown toothpaste = also great :)
My thoughts exactly. They are trying to put out a good message. Similar thing with the amber alert ad: As soon as they show the black person: "Oh come on." -Why would that warrent such a response?
Not saying they don’t mean well, but the execution was so shit they undermined their own attempt to nail a “don’t judge a book by its cover” message. His climbing skills are likened to a monkey (racism) and he has a whole apartment of kids balloons 😂 thaaat’s a creepy dude yo. But yeah nah nah yeah points for effort don’t get me wrong.
@@ozzymanreviews gotta understand the fact the ad is not in Australia.. we're a multicultural "PC" nation.. Thailand isn't.. so not one Thai person would see that ad in a negative light.
Oh the Irish road safety ads are just vicious. Remember seeing a similar one (regarding drink driving) as a small kid and I couldn't listen to the Fleetwood Mac song they used in it (Man of the World) until well into my 20s!
There was that other brutal one where a couple were making out and got flattened against a wall and the lass was trapped against the dead bloke with loads of gore spilling out.
The WA Salvage ad at the conclusion of the video reminded me of a Sydney ad that should be on the list; it had a catch-phrase that went something like 'bring the wife, bring the truck, bring the trailer and save, save, save!'
Prob just a British thing but we had an Ad removed over here in the early 90s because t upset too many people. BT was laying underground phone cables and somebody was looking in to see if they could bury their dad in the hole. The whole idea was that BT was sharing their roadworks and welcomed anybody to do work whilst the roads were dug up.
That got banned?! I remember that one, it wasn't BT it was a Carling advert, there was a hole and all the services were saying we will do the job at the same time, "if Carling did roadworks" then a hearse pulled up.
The second advert, the car crash one, was filmed in my city (Lisburn, UK). The 'main' young kid in it, I actually know his family personally. Their school sent the kids home with notes telling parents not to let them see it, but parents did anyway and apparently there was chaos in the class when the kids got talking lol. Great advert, as all the car crash adverts in Northern Ireland are. It's not Ireland btw folks. It's Northern Ireland, in the UK.
In fairness it was also shown on TV in Ireland (the Republic). I remember seeing it for the first time when I was about 12 and was both amused and horrified at the intensity simultaneously
@@richjhart It's safe, with the anonymity of the innernet, to talk that way to Mr. Mairs. In person? If you and he were in the same room, Mr. Hart, I don't think you'd have the guts to say the things you wrote. (Now wouldn't be a bad time to apologize. Just in case.)
@@tarico4436 not exactly anonymous. My full name is there. And I'm quite happy to have discussions with people over the meanings of the various geographical and political terms in the region. And I stand by it - when I hear Ireland I don't automatically assume which part of the island is being referred to. If it's specifically in the context of a country then I would probably assume the ROI. But as far as I can tell the generally accepted meaning of Ireland is the island. As an example, the Ireland Rugby Team represents the entire island. Whereas there is no Ireland football team - there is the Republic of Ireland national football team, and the Northern Ireland national football team. So I was not suggesting anything about the politics, I was simply pointing out that Ireland, as a word, does not exclude Northern Ireland.

Ozzyman I can’t believe I ran into a generation gap about the Antz Pantz ad! I’m disappointed there was no bugger dog ads for Toyota. But the biggest omission was the 1980’s grim reaper ads. Admittedly you’re too young to remember them but they shaped the attitudes toward sex for the entire country of a certain age (teens).
I'm still traumatised by the Grim Reaper ads 😂 Couple of times I've been with younger guys who complained about having to use condoms and I'm just like STFU the Grim Reaper is having none of this 💀😂
@@rivertam7827 I didn’t recognise the change in medical treatment and expected outcomes for HIV until much later when I saw some documentaries. For those that were around during the grim reaper ads the concept of HIV was a death sentence and therefore sex could kill you!
I drove around Ireland in 2001 and they had lot of billboards up about road deaths. I don't know if or how much the driving culture has changed there, but it could be a little hairy at times.
I drove around Ireland in 2015 and they drove like old nannas, couldn't overtake, and were too shit scared to drive through a little puddle (ok it was a stream overflowing a couple of inches over the road, but I'm an outback and top end bush pig and it only gets scary when the water is coming up the windscreen lol). They're a top mob though, love the Irish people.
The kid one with the Amber alert is helpful. Everyone gets a text with an amber alert when a child is taken or missing with details of the vehicle or whereabouts of where the kid was last seen. So when I worked as a server, the whole restaurant will get a text about an amber alert. Amber being the name of a child that was taken in the past.
If you happen to not want Amber Alerts there should be a way to disable them in your settings. People may judge, but when I was worn out, running on minimal sleep, and got woken up way too early before having to do hard physical labor by one that wouldn't stop until I acknowledged it I decided that they aren't for me anymore.
@@Animanarchy Look closer in your settings. I've got a setting for that sort of thing. Amber alert, hurricane alert, etc. I turned it off after I was in the middle of an hour long drive on the freeway and my phone was out of reach and blaring an alarm. Never again.
Guess I could have worded that more clearly. I meant it as advice for others who may not know there's an option to disable the alerts. I looked up how to and turned Amber off right after getting woken up by that alarm.
Idk if you have before, but it'd be great if you shared some of the old Aussie beer ads with the world. With classics like Carlton Draught's "Big Ad" or the Tooheys ad where they catapult beer ingredients, plus a deer and some women, into the sky in order to make it rain beer.
Twin Lotus tooth paste ad highlights racism and stereotypes. The number of balloons shows how many kids he's tried to help, indicating that he is a good person. It shows the mother as being racist for judging him based purely on his appearance.
We had that show here in Australia in the early 2000s also, some of them were wild lol I'll never forget one with a woman constantly shooing away flies from around her mouth, it was for fruit flavoured condoms 😂💀
My first thought on the Libra ad, was what a waste of pads and money, they are expensive. Also not sure why they would be left on the coffee table, can't speak for anyone but myself but I kept them in the bathroom or bedroom. The speeding one was horrific but it certainly gets the message across.
There was a girl in my school who drunkenly confessed to smearing peanut butter on her whizzle so her dog would lick it clean. I'm in the UK, so that Echidna advert can't have planted the idea in her mind, but it's good to see cunnilingal bestiality is one of the many bonds our culture's share.
There's an old skittles advert that was by far the best ad to ever air on TV.. it brought a whole new meaning to “Taste the rainbow" 💀😂 Edit: the ad wasn't an official Skittles ad

You forgot the punchline, "I think we overdid it with the Sherry". F@cken classic!!!!!!
Hahahaha i absolutely loved the last ad. I lived in Perth in the late 80's and early 90's and the WA Salvage ad took me straight back 30+ yaers. Well done Ozzy Man
Yes. Old Louigi Savadamoney was a classic.
Yeah Ireland and Great Britain are famous for their traffic awareness ads. Actually I do appreciate them. They show possible worst case scenarios.
I think we have too stromg a tendency to drive like shit can never happen. Ads like that remove that cuddly daydream.
When he said stop laughing guy’s it’s not funny i started laughing 😂
wasn't the the toothpaste ad message said "appearance can be deceiving"? just because it have darker color doesn't mean it isn't a toothpaste
In case anyone's having a hard time understanding:
Just because he is a black man, it doesn't mean he isn't kind to others.
Just because the toothpaste is black, it doesn't mean it won't do the same as white paste.
It may come off as "racist" if you really want it to.
Thing is, in America we have a tendency to view things from other countries with the lens of our own countries issues. So what may seem racist here isn't the same elsewhere.
@@SalemArc Except Ozzy is in Australia. That was a clear pander to the "woke" ones.
That libra pad is my absolute favourite. I think it’s hilarious.
Yes. Her lack of surprise or judgement at the end really sells it.
Personally, I prefer their tampon ad: ruclips.net/video/c6PvXhhNeb4/видео.html
I randomly quote that ad all the time 😅 so funny.
They played that ants pants ad throughout the 90's here in Australia quite a bit!
Ps Ozzy you should show the world our old school TAC ads we had here, they'd have people mortified
Same in NZ
and the grim reaper AIDS ad.
I'm beyond curious
The Hard Yakka ad was filmed at Newman WA. The truck is a Haulpack truck.
But what did it have to do with toothpaste?
@@magdaghirma It was both racist and not racist.
The toothpaste ad was saying "don't be freaked out by our toothpaste just because it's brown, there's nothing wrong with it"
"I am not replaying that. I am not doing that, alright I will play it only once" 😂
They just don't make ads like these anymore
My all-time favourite is the Diesel Jeans "wild west" parody. Pure gold.
I don't know about speeding but the utter destruction of the kids was HILARIOUS!!! 🤣🤣
I think that ant video went way over Ozzy Man's head. She actually laid down so the ants would crawl on her. Shes smiling because it's working. Then she was waiting until they got to a certain spot, then told the ant eater to sick them. It makes the whole commercial a lot more 🤣
A lot more... bestiality.
Yet women feel the need to butt in every 5 minutes on anything a guy does lmfao
Oh I thought it was an underwear ad and the underwear was ant-proof. Wait are the ants attracted by menstrual blood? It's even more confusing as a panty liner ad tbh
@@10runescape Examples?
The ants like a Nice mound of the hound of the Baskervilles 👍🏻
quote of the century, "always have a backup echidna " just dieing with laughter!
You're not cheap, Ozzyman. You're gold.

Technically that speeding ad is from Northern Ireland..... but their roads are just as narrow and bloody scary (from an Aussies point of view) as the republic. Every time we go there to see my husband's family I shit my pants going along their roads 🤣
Thank you for pointing us out as Northern Ireland
Omg! I totally remember that car taking out those kids. I remember thinking then that that advert took a very dramatic turn. 😂
This ad is famious af. I sam it hundreds times in memes. Am I the only one?
I saw it in a Russel Howards show
That would make a great tinder profile
“ I’m not fancy but I’m cheap” 😂🤣😂🤣
I still crack up at the Libra pad add. I used to love when it came on. I showed it to my immigrant boyfriend once. He was like "WTF?"
Wouldn't bother trying to explain it to him. Some people see offence where there isn't and he is one.
@@cplcabs not offended at all. Reviewing a creative medium. The execution of that ad is shithouse.
@@ozzymanreviews gotta understand the fact the ad is not in Australia.. we're a multicultural "PC" nation.. Thailand isn't.. so not one Thai person would see that ad in a negative light.

I can smell those Garden Gloves… my Da had them in his shed for 20 odd years !
The WA Salvage ad at the conclusion of the video reminded me of a Sydney ad that should be on the list; it had a catch-phrase that went something like 'bring the wife, bring the truck, bring the trailer and save, save, save!'
Where you said ‘get away from my child!’, you should definitely use that voice more often XD
@@mrtalos Actually it was Heineken lol. I had to look it up ruclips.net/video/THoCE_9tyfk/видео.html
So it is Ireland. Just not the Republic of Ireland. Ireland is an island.
@@tarico4436 but he is correct though, and not even being rude about it.

The Australian dude with the pads. Funniest commercial I've ever seen
I'm still traumatised by the Grim Reaper ads 😂

I drove around Ireland in 2001 and they had lot of billboards up about road deaths. I don't know if or how much the driving culture has changed there, but it could be a little hairy at times.
I drove around Ireland in 2015 and they drove like old nannas, couldn't overtake, and were too shit scared to drive through a little puddle (ok it was a stream overflowing a couple of inches over the road, but I'm an outback and top end bush pig and it only gets scary when the water is coming up the windscreen lol).
They're a top mob though, love the Irish people.
I was in Oz 20ish years ago and they kept a body count on the News of how many ppl had died on the roads when driving home for Christmas!
I remember the Classroom full of kids was in WA on TV
LMFAO at the Irish children one! Too funny!
I remember that invisible pads one. Used to love it as a kid!
If it had been made today, it would have been a bloke and not a chick getting arrested... such is the woke ways of the world.
