I agree completely with your comments on the side pockets and the top internal mesh compartment. I really like what this bag accomplishes, it is the best landscape bag (for me) on the market, but my gripes are not subtle.

I definitely agree with you and I feel like a lot of photographers have the same sentiment. Currently there's no better option on the market, but it doesn't come without its flaws.

I’m right at the point of buying either the Explore v1 or new v2 or the Action X30 and your review was very helpful, thanks. The way you talk about your feelings on the bag makes me think I’ll like the Action better. By the way, the traditional word for ‘comfortability’ is ‘comfort’; 😀 but a great review, thanks!

Which one did you go for in the end? I’m looking at the X30 or E2 30L and don’t know which one to choose…..

@@gilcarag274 I bought the Action X50 and have used it regularly for the last 5 months or so. In brief, I find the roll-top incredibly useful but the space organization very frustrating. I'd like the best of both worlds, ideally. The new roller version is probably good for me to. I guess I want a lot of bags!

Thanks for the review - have you had experience and compare the Shimoda X30 v2 against Wandrd Prvke 31L? Specifically for side pocket landscape photography, for hiking and travel? From time to time on the last few days it will also serve as my shopping backpack. Any insights are much appreciated, cheers.

First of all nice review, your personal touch makes it interesting. Most review on youtube go over the features of a bag and not somebody's experience. So good approach of the review 👍
What I'm wondering is whyyou have chosen for the x30 and not the x50. Can you maybe share these considerations.
I'm also in the market for a landscape photo backpack, I currently have an eberlestock halftrack. The excellent thing is the carrying construction and the toughness, but the con is it weight 3 kilo, has a front access and has 2 openings which can't be closed so dirt and sand get in. 🙈
I'm 192 cm (6.3 ft} tall and wonder which model is better, the x30 or the x50. I prefer to have a compact backpack, as it's more agile.
Any advise is more than appreciated!

Not sure how side pockets can be more "intuitive". Maybe give an example of what you actually need it to be???

I’ve spent some time playing around with the Action X30 and the Explore 30 myself, and I particularly like the mesh bottle pockets. However, they hang loosely off the sides, would swing around on a long walk and become an aggravation. So I’d guess he meant to say they’re not integrated into the main structure of the bag.

@@StudioWatchwolf They don’t swing if you cinch the straps down. I find the fact that you can stow away a side pocket if you don’t need it very intuitive.

@@willbritton133 I ended up buying the X50, and do also find the side pockets a bit ‘unintuitive’. They’re good, and they do work well as you say. However, if you use the mesh bags for bottles or tripods etc. they also leave the pocket itself unsecured.

@@StudioWatchwolf Do you not have the rubberized strap going around the bottle pockets? Maybe I'm confused. The bottle pocket should not sway around with the straps buckled.

Could show more bad and less talking head. Thank you.
