I once wrote my dad's name on one in print and my teacher took me aside in the middle of class and gave me a lecture on how forgery is a crime and I could go to jail
Funny thing was I actually read for an hour but just forgot to get it signed

    • @Poland4life

when I forgot to get my planner signed (which was useless because we didn't write anything in them) I just faked my dad's last name in messy handwriting (fancy=messy) and they didn't know because he had never signed anything for the school, it was always my mom.

Reading logs?... *Cue Vietnam flashbacks* Now that's a term I haven't heard in a long, long time. A long time. Such familiarity, yet mild dread. I couldn't quite form the image in my head until the reading log showed up. Yup. Filled it all the way down from the top, maybe after 3 entries max... I felt like I was the only one who did, and certainly as much. Once for a book report, my dad asked me how far I got through. I told him the truth. He didn't believe me, so I lied and told him I was further along than I really was lmao. And the book reports, literally reading it the night before. The exhilaration. Would pick that over the stresses, ambiguity and despair of adult life any day of the week...

In middle school I lost my lunch cause I "forged my mom's signature"... I didn't. She just has bad handwriting/ a childlike signature and told me I should have gotten my dad to sign it but he was already at work.
Best thing is this teacher disliked me solely cause I was Christian and didn't agree with her views on the LGBTQ (I was 11 and my only views were fed to me by the church/parents (I'm better now)) so she didn't even let me call my mom to tell her she actually did sign it.

We were forced to read specific books, but my reading level was way beyond what was expected. I was reading novels in my own time, no credit given, meanwhile lying and saying I read through this boring 10 page picture book cause I couldn't be bothered.

Teacher: Why do I have 4K evidence of you egging my house??!!!
    Grant: *bursts into laughter*
    Teacher: IT'S NOT FUNNY!!!!!!

See what’s funny is now I could have a new book written for everyday cause once I start a book if I hyper fixate on it I’ll read it all the way through in one sitting

I didn't. At first, our parents filled it out, and then we had to do it and write about what happened. Never lied about it and probably could do so if I tried

We had to take online quizes on the books which had these colored dots on them that determined what reading level they were and you were only allowed to take a quiz on a book that was within your reading level range but a lot of books were mislabeled so if you read a book that was out of your reading limit you couldn’t take the test your time spent reading wouldn’t count and the teachers would blame you

In my defense, I would read entire books in one sitting in middle school. Except I didn't want to get a new book constantly, so I would just spread out the time over a period. There may or may not have been some additional hours added in.

This was when I first learned it was possible to take shortcuts with homework. All I did was pick a Harry Potter book, pick a random number of minutes and pages around 15, profit. Sometimes I would be sure to end with a page of a chapter just to be safe.

I don't remember if I had reading logs or not, but what I do remember is that my mom got called in because I did not read at all, like at most I'd read school books but no story books or library books lol.
