    Here’s the thing with critics. Enjoying movies made for a younger demographic and preferring them over other movies of the same type is fine! It’s just how cinema works. The problem arises when they think their movie tastes are superior to others’. They love using the word “objectively”, when it is *their* opinion they’re stating. That’s pretentious.

      @@n0ta_cat797 Most actual critics are not like that. As the saying goes, "anyone can be a critic" (meant to be read sarcastically)--but not everyone is capable of critique.
      Critics are why your favorite shows and movies are as good as they are. If we were always complacent, we would never see change or progress or diversity. Criticism is the lifeblood of all art. Criticism is why we grow.
      Also, not enjoying the Mario movie for not having a deeper plot is perfectly valid. Does that make it a bad movie? No. It just means they didn't like it. It's okay not to like things for certain reasons, no matter how shallow. I like all kinds of bad movies, and I dislike plenty of good ones. That's just how I roll. You roll your own way. We all do.

    Children aren't blind to critics. So mant adults see children as just a superficial product of no reasoning, judgement or deep character, and I'm shocked one could forget, because we were kids once, right?
    The problem with children is that they aren't as developed in articulating and delivering their understandings and ideas to the outside world. Children have a rich inside of ideas, fantasy, deep thoughts and complexity. Kids sees/feels quality, but they find it hard to communicate their feedback; this can be demonstrated in their long-term behavior where it becomes clearer. A bad childrens movie is a bad childrens movie; theres no excuse for it being bad: holding weak plot, conflicts, development and so on.
    Children deserve to be taken seriously and be given the best of cinematics, not pushed aside and given garbage content. Here are some examples of good children movies: Shrek, The lion King, Inside Out, Spirited away, Frozen, Charlie and the chocolate factory, Narnia and lots more.
    Don't disrespect quality and it's importance. Children deserve to be nurtured and raised with care. Critiquing movies are a must and not stupid if you want feedback and improvement.

      @ajakakakak 8 месяцев назад +69

      Dude yeah I was a child once too. And I had no idea what was good or not. A lot of the content I loved was garbage when I looked back I think it’s pretty undeniable that kids have a different view of what’s good and not good. I used to see what my mom would watch and I’d think it was garbage and yet it was an Oscar winning movie. Sure, I enjoyed the objectively good things too, but no more than the bad ones, bc it was all good to me

    • @SealMeall
      @SealMeall 8 месяцев назад +47

      @@ajakakakak In one's long-term behavior you'll notice which movies a child keep getting back to, and it shows. For me it was Shrek, The Lion King, Monster Inc, Toy story and Harry Potter movies. I watch other movies too that are concidered bad, and the interessting thing is that the bad ones for me were just as good as the ones that I mentioned, in my childish opinion. But as I said, your behavior reveals your reflected *TRUE* opinion; what movies you come back to, over time, gives away your behavior and it shows that you are sensitive to good quality, just not fully aware of it yet.

Do these films have their flaws? God yes, they do. Does that make them complete ass/the worst movies that year like some critics make them out to be? No.

      Or, it’s just simply bad. While I enjoyed the Mario movie, the pacing was a huge issue and the film’s quality suffered because of it.
      The “Five Nights at Freddy’s” movie was connected to the games only by its lore. Every other ingredient that made it viral, including suspense, scares, and atmosphere, were absent. The acting was also pretty stiff.
      Just about every other video game adaptation besides those two were just completely disconnected from the source material, so I’ll provide no input.
      This video is funny because the film critic is overreacting at a film targeted exclusively towards toddlers.
      Video game movies, while mainly aimed to children, connect with more than that demographic. And they, unfortunately, fail to be much more than cheap fan service.

    I hate when people say "it's a kids movie!!" like it can't be critiqued like any other movie. You can still critique story, morale, characters, animation etc. Don't get me wrong, I am not target audience, but there are still good kids movies and bad kids movies. Isn't it kinda... obvious? Not saying you have to nitpick every little detail, it sounds petty, but still, you want the best for your kid, you want for him to have fun and learn improtant lessons. Maybe it's better to show him Spirited Away or Toy Story and not Sausage Party (it's 6 am, come with "it's a bad kids movie" yourself)

    • @viveleshistoires4874
      @viveleshistoires4874 9 месяцев назад +51

      Very true. It shows a level of disrespect towards children I feel like? Like they don’t deserve quality or something. Also there’s a lot of overlap between people who say « it’s just a kids’ movie » and people who tends to think animation = made for kids. Which… no? Art is art, some of it is made for kids and some isn’t, but there should be no hierarchy between the forms it takes.
      On the other hand, what I _do_ get tired of is when people refuse to suspend their disbelief and try to critique stories that are clearly meant to be fairytales through a solely realistic lense (as depicted in this short with the critic getting upset at the use of a magic wand). To use a real life example, remember when people kept pointing out how, in « be our guest » from Beauty and the Beast, there were entirely too many dancing pieces of furniture and that the Beast couldn’t possibly have had that many servants? Like fellas… this is a metaphorical animated fairytale with big musical numbers, and the dancing furniture is part of the _decor._ Complaining about this is like saying that characters in musical spontaneously bursting into song is unrealistic because it doesn’t happen in real life. Of course it doesn’t happen in real life, it’s not like the authors are unaware of it!
      Disney especially gets a lot of these criticisms, but the worst part is, they listen to it! That’s how we get those terrible live-action remakes where all the charm and magic in sucked out for the sake of « realism », because _obviously_ having your movie feature _charm_ or _colour_ or, God forbid, being ANIMATED is not mature enough and won’t please the weird realism fetishists, which are apparently our target audience now???
      Ugh, sorry I got off-track lol, I’m just still very bitter about live-action Disney remakes and the general disdain for animation and anything sincere and not gritty enough. ^^’

    • @riverscuomo7140
      @riverscuomo7140 8 месяцев назад +24

      @@ajakakakak You are misunderstanding my point, allow me to reword it: there is media that people see as bad that kids like. I'm not trying to deny that. There's some shows that I don't see the appeal in that are objectively fairly well-written- like Bluey. What I'm talking about is the overall handwave of "it's for kids" preventing any kind of criticism for any children's media, even if it's objectively bad. Look at something like, let's say, Peppa Pig. It is formulaic, samey and actively teaches that throwing a fit makes you get your way. But a lot of criticism of it as a show is thrown away because "it's a kids' show, you're looking too hard into it." Media made for kids needs to be the bare minimum of being enjoyable and a good influence on kids- it doesn't need to be on Citizen Kane levels of plot but it just needs to be something that is base-level good to watch and not actively annoying or harmful.

    Learned a long time ago never to listen to critics. Make up your own mind. Watch trailers to get a feel for it or just take a chance. Sometimes you'll get burned, other times you will be pleasantly surprised and other times still, it will be exactly what you expected for better or worse. Point being: decide for yourself whether you like it by taking the experience. No one else, no matter how educated on the subject, has a right to tell you if you should enjoy something or not.
    You know what you like and you can make the best guess on whether or not something will be for you or not. A critic has to speak for the wider audience as a whole. That doesn't mean shit to an individual, though.
