I've watched this one before and enjoyed it just as much the second time! There's nothing like being in the forest watching and listening to the world wake up!
It's incredible how almost an entire year has flown by. I remember this video (I've watched it last year), but for some reason I forgot to give it a thumbs up. Better late than never. Cheers from Hungary.
Beautiful woodland image Henry. I genuinely think I have watched everyone of your vlogs and still get excited everytime you post a new one. Keep up the good work your a phenomenal talent. Richie
This made me smile so much, your enthusiasm is contagious and I loved how excited you were, almost jumping up and down with joy! I have been watching you from your NZ days and your photography has grown so much, top notch images Henry.
Love woodlands and of course early morning light is just so nice. I felt like I was in there with you, with the birds singing and that wild garlic! Don't plant it in your garden it spreads like mad. Beautiful flower head, worth taking a macro I think. The Dutch shot was my favourite have been there. Get comp and light right in a flat landscape and you've got a cracking shot. Well done all looking forward to the next blog.
Nice video, beautiful woodland. I have to agree that the ability to return to photography, early morning among the trees, has made a real difference to my mindset. Such a joy to be out there. For me, local woodland is Thetford Forest with red deer and cuckoo. Thanks for sharing your experience.
PhotoPills app - yep its excellent ...again, you have inspired me this time with woodland; It takes thoughtfulness from you for me to reconsider my existing subject matter/locality ..... ‘already’ planning in my head and I can now see projects that I have missed...... and all ‘very’ local to me.......cheers again for exposing your thoughts/skills for all to see....
Henry, you are such a positive and motivated dude! this is truly inspiring! Thanks so much for sharing these moments and your beautiful pictures with us!
Really like the excitement and enthusiasm, so contagious, in a good way. 🙂 I'm now itching to find something similar in my local area, can't wait to scout and see if I can get a nice winter woodland shot. Thanks a lot for the content Henry and igniting the drive to go out and shoot! Keep on cracking! 👍
im glad its not just me being manic and overexcited creaping around the woods up a mountain in a kayak a swamp anywhere outside with a nolikon camera 😂😂😂 how wild can one man be
Thanks Henry. Great to see some woodland photos. I’ve spent most of lockdown exercise time walking through the Bluebell woods close to home. Looking forward to next weeks blog.
Great video Henry, love your enthusiasm for nature and the great outdoors whatever it throws at you. fantastic set of images from the magical misty woodland. keep up the good work and enthusiasm. Many thanks for featuring one of my shots, really appreciate it. Regards Greg
Thank you so much Henry for all your videos and for your enthusiasm, in a good way you make everything looks like a child's play and I find at you a good source of inspiration. I love woodland photography and I would like to try it too, especially that I own the same body camera as you and the Lowepro backpack too :-)
Henry, just wanted to say thank you for your content. Only recently discovered your channel & was just beginning to get back into photography after some years in “the wilderness” so to speak. Your passion has rubbed off on me & I am itching to get out & shoot. Anyway thanks again, look forward to watching previous videos & for what the future holds for you. Cheers from “Down Under”
The Japanese call it “forest bathing” - know you know why :-). Lovely peaceful instructional video. Nice work H. Reminds me of that Robert Frost line “ the woods are lovely, dark and deep and I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep.”
Another great vlog as usual Henry, this has give me the inspiration to go and photograph a small waterfall near to my house, especially as the weather is so hot and does not take long before the light becomes so harsh, glad to see you are back on a high again which is good for us, Top draw my friend🍻🍻🥂👍
Great stuff Henry , brilliant to see you getting that ' buzz ' again , really makes these vids infectious. while watching I suddenly realised that the small copse behind my house had great light on the canopy floor , so I ran across and got a few good pics with my phone. Got soaked lying on the ground but just lay there listening to the birds singing and taking in the beauty that was at my back door . Your images were fab especially the last one . Keep it up mate .
aww man,Henry, just beautiful images,i love woodland and forests,so magical.thank you for sharing, and the enthusiasm you exude is contagious.thank you, thank you, thank you.
Wow, I love that first image!! So beautiful! And the other two images are amazing too, all three of them seem kind of like out of a fairytale! I think the bluebells shot is my favorite picture in your calendar, even though I like them all 😊
What an adventure... It's amazing how fog and soft light changed everything for you. Did you think about zooming in a bit more than 35mm and using may be a 24-70 lens? If not, why not? I was wondering that you isolated quite a lot of the scene in the last shot at 35mm, how would it have been had you zoomed in a bit more...
Great stuff Henry 👍 thatchers rock looked awesome, but unfortunately is 33 miles from my home, so doesn't qualify for the 10 mile radius challenge. However, I'll keep it in mind for another time. 👏🏻👏🏻
One for the Portfolio lad! Portfrickinfolio! banging first shot Henry proper mint....well garlic actually haha loved this episode full of enthusiasm inspiring mate.
What an amazing conditions you had that morning, love the first composition!! And thank you for sharing my photo from Kinderdijk, it's only a 25 min bike ride for me to get there. Love to show you around my locale area some day👍👍
Ah thanks very much!! Yeah I had wonderful conditions - very lucky! You’re very welcome it was a beautiful image, amazing reflections. Thanks a lot for watching 🙏🏼🍻
Nice one Henry, what cracking conditions well worth the early morning alarm call. I’m hoping for some of these conditions in my woodland/forest hikes. Excellent set of images 👍. As you say top draw.
The kind of conditions I'm always on the lookout for on Clear Outside 🤣 Great images mate! Couldn't really pick a favourite. Can't wait till we're let out in Wales
A little tip I've come across is instead of shooting at f11 like you did here, try shooting at something around f5.6 or even lower and that will give you a more 'dreamy' image especially with fog.
So fortunate to have such clean and tidy forests locally! It is very hard to find woodland like that in my area (in Virginia, USA outside Washington, DC). Been trying for weeks to try and locate woodland with wild garlic blooms like this, but no luck so far.... anyone have any tips?!
I would have worried about doing a 10 second exposure anywhere that had leaves, branches, and general foliage. Turned out good though mate! Still in lockdown here in Wales. Really enjoying the nature though. My garden has never been so busy with wildlife. Stay Safe! 👊
Hi, Henry, could you tell me what make is your rucksack, and if you are satisfied with it please, love your channel, brilliant photos of woodland, my favourite place to be, yes definitely worth the 4 am / 4:30 start.
Cheers John! In this video it's a Lowepro Fastpack BP AW II which I do like, however it got a bit small for my needs so I've recently acquired a Mindshift Backlight 26L
Thanks Henry for your reply, I think I will go for the Lowpro, I will be using it for micro 4/3, so I think it will be big enough, thanks for your help.
@@HenryTurnerphoto Wow .. you are the first youtuber to have every taken a couple of seconds to reply. Says alot about you. What DSLR would you recommend for a beginner?
@@HenryTurnerphoto going to have a look thanks.. Am I right in saying you are better off investing in really good lenses with a reasonable camera, rather than the best camera with an ok lense??
0:23 Look at the eye of this magical red beast! It says something like "Finally on the road again, you'd better not mess up with me! 💪" About your first photo... Well, I think the sunlight is missing because it doesn't shine from right above. See, at sunrise (and sunset, of course!), the light has to get through much more of the atmosphere to reach you. And then, if the light has to get through thick fog (unless you are right at the edge of the fog field in the direction of the sunlight), it can be unlikely to get the light you wanted here. Plus, if there were clouds in the way of the sunlight (High clouds can hide the sun from your point of view when they are about 100 kilometers away!)... Nevertheless, you got still a great photo here! It would be interesting to keep that ten mile radius challenge even after this whole human malware situation getting better. But since you are doing photography as a fulltime job, maybe one video a month where you explore your radius would be enough. However, keep showing ten mile pictures from others once a week would be fine for me.
I've watched this one before and enjoyed it just as much the second time! There's nothing like being in the forest watching and listening to the world wake up!
Okay, you did it man. You made me cry. That soft forest light is so surreal. Thanks for that!
Getting up at 4 is never a stupid thing to do Henry. Wild garlic carpet looks stunning, must smell amazing as well.
Cheers Bill! Yes the smell was very strong!
It's incredible how almost an entire year has flown by. I remember this video (I've watched it last year), but for some reason I forgot to give it a thumbs up. Better late than never. Cheers from Hungary.
Your enthusiasm is so infectious. Love it
Happy to see enthusiastic Henry again, lovely photos as always. So happy to see all the spring green and hear the birdsong.
Cheers Teri, yes it’s a lovely time of year to be out! 🍻🙏🏼

Henry, great video, Thatchers Rock is just off the coast at Torquay in Devon.
One of my favorite videos, you have your enthusiasm back!!
Thanks Tommy, yes I absolutely loved this adventure!!
Whats not to like lol. A misty wood in spring!!! Nice captures and well worth an early start.

I love that diffused magical light, and the way your shirt matches the woodland!
Thanks a lot! Yes it matches perfectly, it was unintentional, honestly haha. Cheers for watching 🍻🙏🏼

Thank you Kim! 🍻🙏🏼
Brilliant mate..
Nice one Craig, thanks a lot 🍻🙏🏼
Our woodlands have so much undergrowth you can't hardly walk through them.
A lot of ours are the same, also very difficult to photograph! Thanks for watching
I would have worried about doing a 10 second exposure anywhere that had leaves, branches, and general foliage. Turned out good though mate!
Still in lockdown here in Wales. Really enjoying the nature though. My garden has never been so busy with wildlife.
Stay Safe! 👊
Yes I'd usually be the same but there wasn't a breath of wind in that forest! Thanks for watching mate

On the second location did you try a really low shot looking through the garlic either side of the path ?
No but I think that would have worked great!
Stumbled across your channel and I like what your doing. Love the #10mileradiusht idea given the world's current situation.
