So…after I ran around town looking for a can of jackfruit, because no one told me that Trader Joe’s discontinued selling jackfruit, I finally found it and made this recipe. It is so, so, so good. Glad I made it. Thank you! BTW, I buy fresh jackfruit, freeze it, and make jackfruit nice cream. It tastes like a juicy fruit slushy.
I just found out Trader Joe’s discontinued their jackfruit after drops half an hr to buy some . I’ve been purchasing from them for years. The price at other stores is double the price of TJ…

I would shredded and season it and then combine it with the jackfruit just before I put it in the oven OR I would shred and season it, bake it on its own and then add it to the finished jackfruit with more bbq sauce
YES the brine taste has often ruined my pulled jackfruit! Thanks so much for the tip. Definitely trying it this way! I’m planning on using a vegan “beef” bouillon to see if I can make it more like barbacoa 🤔

Yum! I got my family to try BBQ jackfruit and they liked it. It wound up being REALLY soft because we tried with fresh jackfruit and cooked it too much. But they really enjoyed eating just the raw fresh jackfruit. My little niece kept taking pieces of it while we were prepping. LOL
Cutting onions. Cut in half.laydown the flat side, then cut the way you want. Cutting on a curve , can roll and you can cut yourself easier. Avoid the trip to the hospital.

I have made these before. I use the actual jackfruit, not the canned. It doesn't have that Briney taste. It was so delicious!

Pretzel buns, waaay too heavy. A light bun is best. Brown w butter and garlic powder to color you like. Frying pan. Set aside.
