    There are some, many pro synth players who are a bit kinda disappointed in no CV capability. But the more you research and explore this synthesizer, the more you realize, it is all there anyway. You don't need anything to add to it. As analog, with all capabilities considered, what could you possibly add that would truly enhance what the synthesizer already has on board. Even considering poly of 6, what would more voices actually distinguish that six do not do justice to already. I think in honesty, The French have proven in many ways how more advanced they are in yet another aspect of creativity. Pound for pound, yen for yen, dollar for dollar and franc for franc, you ain't ever going to find a better, more sophisticated and exciting synthesizer than this. Amazing, absolutely amazing proving that a republic of freedoms that was battled over during the rennaisence, is a far better construct of imaginings and leanings than many other societies. I hope France recovers from recent problems. They are a fine nation of creationists whom have flexed yet again to say.....................'now let's look at those synths again moog.' All credit to Bobs Work and Foundation, but Arturia have only been up and running since 1999 and going leagues ahead, seeing Yamaha, Roland and even Moog spitting feathers in their rear view mirror. Nice one Arturia. Great demo bud.

      Disappointment in the lack of cv inputs is about integration into a studio, for peoiple who build systems. Not to do with adding features or enhancing what already exists in the synth. Yes the Polybrute can technically make any internal modulation connection one could potentially do with cv... but i simply can't partner the polybrute iwht other cv sources unless through very convoluted, less accurate means... my Modcan Quad LFO, quadrature Batumi, Black Sequencre, Kermit mk3, etc cannot converse with the polybrute as part of a large and complicated system...this is why it's disappointing. Indeed a great synth on its own, but cv is just about making music in a studio with lots of cv floating around.

      I personally recommend getting a good controller keyboard and use vsti's. This is _the_ best and cheapest way to explore many different synthesizer techniques. Getting a hardware synth is off course a lot of fun and if it's the right one for you it will provide years of music but do not jump in too fast. Besides that, free vsti's like Vital are amazing synths and I use them all the time.

    Very good and beautiful acquisition Jonas ! Arturia is a safe bet, moreover, I thought I saw in your videos that your master keyboard is also a Arturia !
    I think with polybrute the sonic possibilities are almost limitless...
    You must be happy to have it.
    There are 3 synthesizers that me eye: the JP X, the summit from Novation and the polybrute, which are the 3 at more or less equal price.

    Congrats on your new Synth. I think its gonna be a huge enrichment to your setup. I am curious about the morph function when used in your productions. This screams for unexpected sound changes. Definetly a unique feature. I personally am fan more of the ob 6 sound, as i find it more unique. Poöybrute is in the prophet 6 category, soundwise, which is not really an issue :-D

    • @Estuera
      @Estuera  3 года назад +2

      As the music I release is (melodic) techno, progressive trance and deep house I'm very sure that I will put all this morphing to very good use.
      It's also a gold mine for creating cinematic sounds, I think I could score a whole scifi or horror movie/game using only this synth.
      Sound wise there also are echoes of the CS-80. I'm taliking about the sounds in the late 70's Vangelis albums (Spiral, China, Beaubourg). I stumbled upon those sounds in the PolyBrute quite easily.

  • @Fallingoverbackwards
    @Fallingoverbackwards 3 года назад +1

    A lot of these demo patches were quite aggressive and occasionally harsh. I wonder if it naturally wants to go in that direction. Cool to see this side of the synth but i have to say it is capable of softer beauty and expressive soulful keys. I think of the CS-60/80 anyone that has played will find it quite thin and harsh but reverb magically transforms into warm ambient. I think it requires an edge in the synth to cut through the reverb, occupy a frequency range.

    • @Estuera
      @Estuera  3 года назад +2

      It certainly can do those things as well. I also demonstrated this to some degree in some of the patches.
      Its actually quite capable of going into CS-80/60 territory.
      The second patch I demonstrate (before I morph it into more extreme territory) is a good example actually.
      Also the final 2 patches are very CS like.
      The second to last in the demo section of the video sounds very close to the CS-80 patch Vangelis used in the track 'Ballad' (from the Spiral album) for example.
      Don't forget that the CS synths also can go into quite different directions if you start using the ring mod.
      But if you push the oscillator levels and overdrive tje filters the PolyBrute shows its other side indeed and sounds very aggressive and modern (something I love as well)

    • @Estuera
      @Estuera  3 года назад +1

      How would you practically see this ?

    • @Hessencemusic
      @Hessencemusic 3 года назад

      @@Estuera well.. why not use the Arturia Juno-60 emulation? you can install it free for demo and the sound vs original Juno is pretty pretty close to the real one. And being both from Arturia it could be a really nice comparison. www.arturia.com/products/analog-classics/jun-6-v/overview

    • @Estuera
      @Estuera  3 года назад

    • @Hessencemusic
      @Hessencemusic 3 года назад

      @@Estuera I see your point... But as an approach to that kind of tightness or roundness of Juno 60 DNA I think it will be close to the real one, at least in my experience. U-HE diva and repro are also incredible emulations of HW units.. I was thinking this because sounds with tight low end: basses or classic warm pads in Korg 3100, Juno 60 , Korg poly six are not so common in the demos I've seen and as full analog synth I think It would worth to hear it ;)

      I do have Roland Cloud (which includes thew Juno 60) and I do have the diva as well so might do some side by side comparisons. Not sure if it will be interesting enough for a full video. In that case it would have to be a more epic VS battle (like PolyBrute vs the new Prophet 5 for example)

    He Jonas, vraagje voor jou. In de oldschool track 'The Tape (B-Sides) van Frank de Wulf zit een geluid wat ik alleen maar kan omschrijven als een soort hoge sax oid. Heb jij een idee hoe dat geluid te maken? Ik ben met een bootleg bezig, en die sound moet erin! Thanks man!

    • @Estuera
      @Estuera  3 года назад +1

      Die track ken ik heel goed (1 van mijn favorieten uit die periode) dus ik weet zonder te luisteren al over welke sound je het hebt.
      Zonder te weten welke synths Frank in zijn studio had op dat moment is het eigenlijk puur gokwerk.
      Er zijn ook 2 sax achtige sounds in deze track:
      - 1 cleane sax in de intro van een van de versies
      - 2 De high pitched synth die een naar beneden bendende noot speelt die later in de track voorkomt.
      Ik neem aan dat je het over sound 2 hebt.
      Wat ik in deze sound hoor zijn 2 elementen:
      - Een saw tooth met veel vibrato waar de pitch bend mee gedaan wordt (dit zou ook een FM of Wavetable Sax preset kunnen zijn, veel synths uit die tijd hadden van die patches aan boord)
      - Een octaaf lager een meer metallic kinkende buzz achtige sound.
      Aangezien de pitch bend alleen op de saw zit denk ik dat deze sound dus eigenlijk 2 synths (of samples) zijn waar dan ook nog een hele korte delay op zit die ook behoorlijk bijdraagt aan de sound.
      Als ik er een keer de tijd voor vind wil ik deze best wel eens proberen te maken maar gezien de vele losse elementen zou het wel eens een flinke uitdaging kunnen zijn om deze sound exact te benaderen.

    • @Estuera
      @Estuera  3 года назад

      There isn't really a vsti that has the exact same specs as the PolyBrute so I can't directly compare.
      The biggest difference here is the all analog signal path (besides the fx). There are some plugins that emulate this very well (The Uhe Diva for example) but having all that electricity directly under your control is a very inspirational thing (same with the Korg MS-20). If you really would hear the difference in a full mix I do not know. But it certainly sounds great :D

      I made my first release ever using that one. I don't think I could ever let it go😇

      @@Estuera Okay, fair point. I'll stick to my Reface CS then. :)

      Which actually is a lot more useful and better sounding than the CS1x ;) I love the Reface CS.

      @@Estuera That's why its so front and center on your desk all the time. :) My only gripe with it is the lack of a patch memory. But then, with so few controls, recalling a sound I have made isn't that hard. I wonder if the Modal Cobalt8 would be a viable "upgrade".

    How do you like the keyboard?

    • @Estuera
      @Estuera  3 года назад +1

      Its good, not great. It does its job very well and as I already had the Keylab61 Mk2, which has the same keybed, I already was used to the way it responds.
      For a synth it plays perfectly fine but there still are better keybeds out there off course. It also would have been _really_ great if it had polyphonic aftertouch.

      @@Estuera thank you for your answer.
      If it is good enough for you, it will be good enough for me by far.

    How is this machine for keeping you inspired?!?

    • @Estuera
      @Estuera  Год назад +1

      That really depends from person to person off course.
      I like to sit down and create some new patches from time to time and than playing them. This usually leads to inspiration, especially because this synth is very playable with all its control options.

    Hmm, I just can’t love the sound of this thing … 🤷🏻‍♂️ and eg Hydra has ribbon (and Poly AT!), as does Gemini - as well as CV (I’d rather a Touché, that is better and which I can use with multiple CV synths).
