  • In this video, I'm dipping my toes into UWB (Ultra WideBand) technology with the help of the Reyax RYUW122 modules to create a prototype of a "wireless" tape measure that can measure distances between two points.
The UWB modules are commonly used for indoor positioning, they have an accuracy of about 10 cm and when you have multiple of those, you can create a system that will calculate the precise position of an object, even without a line of sight.
My setup consists of two nodes, one tag and one anchor, where on the anchor node I also added an OLED screen to be able to display the measured distance. In an open field, the device successfully worked till the claimed 100 meters distance.

The variable "distance" might have string in front, when passing the 100 m, and in that case, toFloat would give 0 because it will not parse a number starting with string, and you get 0 cm. My guess is to see what it really has as value above 100 meters, then format accordingly.

Yes, correct. I wanted to try the same but I ran out of time for the video.

@@TasteTheCode If the limit is 100 meters, then probably it stops sending a value, and shows some error message

Are you going to open sauce?

No, but I wish I could. It's way too far for me and economically not viable.
