Thank you for this video. Jury still out on my purchasing a freeze drying machine. I’ve seen numerous videos on using it, but very few on using the freeze dried food. Have much hesitation in that regard. Please do more! THANK YOU!

I really enjoy your videos. I'm new to freeze drying this year and have a question about the oxygen absorbers. When you open your jars of product like powdered freeze dried berries, onion powder, etc do you have to replace the oxygen absorber packet every time you open the jar or bag?

So technically, your absorber is only good the first time you seal it, once you unseal it the absorber doesn't do anything else. So if you want that added insurance that your food in your jar will last a long time you can throw in a new absorber before you vacuum seal it. For me, I just pick and choose what I use an absorber in (when it comes to jars) Most powders and things that I have in jars I use frequently so I just vacuum seal the lid each time after I open it, and my food has stayed fresh that way! If I'm opening something and know I won't be using it again for a long time, then I'll use a new absorber in there. With mylar bags I always tend to use the full bag once I open it, I haven't tested resealing food with new absorbers in a mylar bag but I think it could work?
Hopefully that answers your question! If I was confusing let me know haha. Thanks so much for watching my videos I appreciate it and am glad you're enjoying them!

does the texture change? Can someone tell the food was freeze dried?

Most of the time no! Couldn’t tell at all with the soup veggies - the beans were a little on the dry side but I think that was because I didn’t add in enough water. If I had added a bit more I bet would have been perfect. They were still good just on the dry side
