    Man.. the wind just adds so much immersion to the experience.. hope M$ will incorporate something similar

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  3 года назад +3

      It certainly does, doesn’t it! It’s always the “small” details that make the big difference. I wasn’t one that cared too much about sounds few years ago, but I’ve since come to realise how important they are to immersion. Indeed a big part of A2As “trick” is quality sounds. It’s the only real feedback we get in the sim. . . To not have wind noise just makes things feel “off”. Even in a commercial jet, at high speed / low altitude, it’s incredibly noisy - let alone something little like this with just a Perspex canopy! A great effort from the dev. Hopefully Asobo learn a few tricks as you say! ; )
      Cheers!

    After flying this fun little jet it has quickly become one of my favorite aircraft. Flight model seems excellent. Never heard sounds as good as this aircraft. I can even hear the tires going over the runway cracks. This guy really likes to float down the runway. Don’t pass up this little gem. Thanks for another well done review!

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  3 года назад +4

      Yep, completely agree with all of that Jim! One of the best aircraft in the sim currently and just such a joy to fly.
      Best sounds, best flight model and best value for money currently available within MSFS I would say. Not a bad effort from a tiny developer and all for the princely sum of €10! I hope the chap sells a lot of units, he well and truly deserves the money! It’s actually made me re-assess my expectations of what’s currently possible in the sim. The rudder is still off (so I guess that’s endemic to MSFS), but the flight model is incredibly good otherwise. Clearly the sim can be worked with, to produce a solid aircraft simulation.
      As you say, not one to miss! Cheers : )

      @@IntotheBlueSimulations I agree with you completely! Sounds are so important to flight sims. Seems so many creators ignore or go sounds lite even when you are paying $30-$40. Thanks again for all of your valuable reviews. I know that you invest many hours in pursuit of getting it all right. Thanks SO very much! God bless you sir!

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations

      Hi Jim,
      Yes, as sounds are one of the only ways we get direct feedback in the sim, I think they are vitally important - they certainly make a world of difference to the immersion. It does seem that the genre is slowly improving in this regard, but a lot of developers haven’t got the message yet as you say. Fortunately, given that the default aircraft actually have rather good sounds, I think it encourages other devs to up their game.
      Thanks very much for your kind words, most appreciated! I certainly invest quite a bit of time in the channel, but I very much enjoy it also : )
      Take care and all the best to you!

    Wonderful little jet, I’m not big on texturing and that sort of stuff, flight model is what’s really important and the sounds. Picked up this little gem shortly after its release , and was totally blown away !! Some of the sounds / features cant be found in other sim aircraft worth two to three times its price . I can confirm that VOR / ADF work perfect , also the low altitude warning device . I was also able to fly this , trimmed out at 120knots . It seemed to just glide along + was great for taking in the views . Overall , a fantastic little aircraft and fantastic value for money !! ( P.s Super vid as always 👍👍👍👍) .

      Likewise; this little jet was such a pleasant surprise! It’s completely excellent and by far the best value for money in the sim at the moment. As you say, the sounds blow most other products out of the water. The little C22J has actually changed my opinions on what is currently possible in MSFS and if a one man development team can achieve this and then sell it for £10, the other developers have no excuses!
      I hope the developer makes some decent money from it, he certainly deserves to!
      Glad you enjoyed the video and indeed the C22J! : )

    Such a cute little Italian sportscar! - Never mind missing rivets...System and sound are great.
    Some times you just want a short low level flight around the city or to next town little airstrip - and your favorite GA aircraft is too slow . This Ferrari fills this gap.

      Haha, yep, completely agree Øystein! What she lacks in looks, she more than makes up for in every other department. Just had a great little run around New Zealand in the plucky C22J. What would have taken > 1hr in a typical SEP, took me less than 30 mins. Was cruising at FL200 at Mach 0.45 hehe ; )

    Absolutely love how the startup smoke fades out as the engine reaches temp. Also the undercarridge flex/wobble and the sounds...Im in love. Bloody Marvelous!! Just shows what MSFS is capable and highlights how lazy a lot of devs are. Great Vid as usual. :)

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, that was my take on the whole addon really; if a one-man dev team can achieve this and sell it for €10, quite a few other devs have a lot of explaining to do! The C22J has actually made me reassess my understanding of what it’s even possible to achieve in MSFS. I had thought that the flight characteristics and sound modelling etc that we saw on other products, were probably still just current limitations of the sim, but clearly not! Apart from the rudder (which presumably is an inherent issue in the sim) she flies absolutely fine, no weird behaviours. Same for the sounds, head and tails above almost everything else.
      All in all, this thing is a little pint-sized masterpiece, not to mention a complete bargain. Apparently the textures will be getting an overhaul as well! : D
      Thanks very much as always! Glad you enjoyed the video and indeed the C22J : )

    Another beautifully balanced review. I’d initially overlooked this as I prefer VFR single prop spam-cans but after it appeared in your ‘top 10’ review of 2021 I decided to give it a whirl. What a joy! The flying characteristics are a dream and the lack of ‘glass instrumentation’ is refreshing. It certainly requires a handful of air brake but the wheel brakes are very effective. The low sitting position gives a good sensation of speed.

      Yeah, obviously it won’t be to everyone’s tastes, but it seems to have been very warmly received by all those who have purchased it so far! I just had another brilliant flight in it myself. Definitely the best value for money offering in the sim at the moment and arguably the best sounds / flight model as well. No small achievement for what I presume is a one-man development team!

  • @rolanddutton4723

    I bought this soon as I heard about it because a) it's cheap and b) it's not another bush plane. This is a real unexpected gem of an aircraft. I really like that it doesn't have the infamous springy flight model like many MSFS planes do.
    I actually think the interior visuals are great. I can see one mirrored texture on the seat and a couple of low poly areas but it's like the JF Arrow; good where it needs to be. It's got a cool early-80s supercar vibe to it.
    I feel this is slightly redundant, but great review as usual :)

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  3 года назад +1

      Couldn’t agree more Roland, it was such a pleasant surprise what a wonderful little aircraft the C22J is! Hats off to the developer as well, for not adding another €10 on there because “MSFS” (although frankly he could and it would still be worth the price). I’m hoping he sells lots of units, a lot of other developers could learn a trick or two about how it should be done! The flight model of this jet has actually made me reconsider what is even possible in MSFS, I had assumed that perhaps the “springy” flight models would be here to stay until Asobo did something about it, but it seems the sim is more than workable in reality. If a solo dev can do it, again, no excuses for anyone else!
      I agree on the visuals, maybe I could have been more articulate, but I actually really like them myself. I know that they won’t be to everyone’s taste though, so I think it’s better to be clear on that. I hope the dev considers an overhaul on the textures, again I’m sure it would help him shift some more units. A brilliant jet though and brilliant fun!
      Haha, pepping my ego is never redundant! XD
      : P
      Cheers Roland. Happy flying!

    This odd little aircraft REALLY won me over. Yes, it's a bit rough on some of the visuals, but it flies like a dream, sounds excellent and has great attention to detail. I'd say it's grossly underpriced considering other add-ons that are less in-depth charge much more. And the developer has said he'll be improving the visuals a bit. You can also download a new texture pack on the Microsoft Flight Simulator official forum that has several color options for the dash and trim in the cockpit. They help make it look just a bit nicer. With that pack, highly recommended indeed.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  3 года назад

      Absolutely Bjorn! The C22J was a really pleasant surprise, a real “hidden” gem. Difficult to find fault with it (other than the visuals, which I still like personally + as you say, they are being worked on further). At its current price, it’s an absolute steal and arguably the best value for money in the sim! I will definitely take a look at the texture pack myself.
      Thanks and happy flying! : )

    Totally agree with the "diamond in the rough" appraisal. A lot of pleasant surprises with this one, and a true oddball given that three of them ever were completed to flying status. Now, if only Mr. Noriega would consider applying his talents to producing the Morane-Saunier MS 760 Paris jet, an early 60's 4-place. Was surprised to see online that there are still some of those around in real world!

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 года назад

      Glad you agree Gary; for me the C22J is exactly how one should go about creating / marketing such an addon. Sure it’s somewhat of a port-over and a bit dated in the visual department, but it ticks every other box and it’s clear that Mario put a *lot* of love, care and attention into the aircraft. It’s brilliant fun and he hasn’t tried to charge “MSFS prices” for it, just because. I really take my hat off to him and really enjoy the Ventura.
      He may well be open to suggestions; I’d imagine he’s actually done quite well off the back of the C22J in MSFS. I must admit I had to google the MS 760 - I’m still not sure what I make of it haha. It’s definitely one of those aircraft that’s both somewhat ugly and beautiful at the same time. Looks interesting though for sure.

    I put a comment on here last night but it failed, possibly because I put links to the aeroplane's webpage and for simMarket could be purchased. I did so purely because I actually found it a bit difficult to find and there was no link to it here. Anyway I loved the review and on the basis of that, bought the aircraft. It all comes back to hand flying - there's no autopilot - but it is fun. 95% of my view takes place in the cockpit and I found it fine. I could clearly read the instruments and for a jet, it was relatively straight forward to fly. She wanted to wander on the take off roll and landing but I put that down to the sim as all aircraft tend to do that. Love it and intend to fly it lots!!

    Nicely done video! Reminds me of the T-37 I flew in pilot training. I certainly would have back-taxiied to use all of the available runway. Much of your takeoff roll will have taken place between refusal speed and single-engine takeoff speed. Lose an engine during that time, and you're neither stopping on the remaining runway or taking off! I wonder what the single-engine climb rate would be? I think I'll have to buy it and find out!

Two is better for redundancy of course, but seems a bit unnecessary in such an aircraft (presumably it was a requirement from the Military). Apparently each engine produces an astonishing 220lbs of thrust! So your Dyson might yet be more powerful haha XD

      I was due an upgrade anyway, so thought I’d bite the bullet. I’m really happy with the performance generally speaking much smoother overall (even more-so in reality than probably comes across in the videos). The only issue I have at the moment, is a stutter when looking up and down through the horizon, but I gather that’s basically down to the sim no longer caching enough scenery and then loading up the CPU again each time (post update 5) - apparently Asobo will be adding a chaching slider option to remedy this. Just typical isn’t it; you go and buy a load of new speedy RAM and then the sim gets changed, not to make best use of it haha.

    Clear intakes! Very interesting and unique plane if a bit of an ugly duckling, basically a jet powered glider. Most of those textures don't look too terrible but the stick texturing is quite bad and 'sticks' out for me, also the canopy frame texture as that's right in your face. I do like the cockpit layout as well, nice and retro. Sounds quite nice as well although as you mentioned that air brake is a bit odd. I've seen a few positive posts about this on the official forums and elsewhere and was thinking about buying it but on the fence but your video has convinced me to buy. Personally I feel like the wind noise is a bit excessive. I thought it's more noticeable on gliders due to the lack if engines to drown it out. The small turbojets even at idle would be enough to drown most of that out IMO. I could be wrong as I'm not a pilot. I know it's based off of a glider which makes me think they used existing audio from one mixed with the BD-5J soundtrack... I've certainly never been in a plane or watched a video of one with that much wind noise. I only really notice it on towed gliders.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 года назад +1

      Hi Robert,
      You could be right. I've flown all sorts over the years, but never anything remotely like the C-22J (other than gliders), so I have no accurate frame of reference as to how it might actually sound - you might be surprised just how much wind noise there is, sat up the front of a jet at high speed though, it can get pretty loud (all the more so, in a small aircraft with little soundproofing I would imagine). The C-22J's turbojets are pretty tiny and with them being behind the pilot, they might not actually make all that much noise (at least that's audible from the cockpit). That's just speculation on my part though. . .
      It's certainly possible that the wind noise has been overdone, but I would say it's better to have it than not. Personally I think it's something that's sorely lacking in a lot of MSFS aircraft and I think the addition of wind noise is one of the reasons the C-22J is such an immersive little aircraft.
      That's just my two pennies worth though. . . All the best! : )

    • @Largetalons
      @Largetalons 2 года назад +1

      Thanks for the response. I guess it can be hard to appreciate how windy it can be up there when I've only sat in the back. It's a good point that those little turbojets would probably get drowned out fairly easily.

      Indeed, at high indicated airspeeds, things get loud enough that you rather have to raise your voice to chat with the guy next to you. Now of course the “high speed” I’m referring to, is quite a bit quicker than the little C22J will ever manage to go, but then again it doesn’t look like there’s much in the way of soundproofing in the Ventura’s cockpit haha.

    Just to be sure I'm reading and understanding this right, for takeoff, we need full flaps and 25% or 50% up trim based on flying solo or having one passenger, right? Climb is a matter of slowly bringing the flaps up and reducing trim, approach is a matter of increasing flaps and adding up trim? And then for landing, we have again full flaps, 25% or 50% trim up and speed brakes full?
    Is this because of the narrow wings not generating enough lift at slow speeds?

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  3 года назад

      Hello William,
      That sounds about right yes. I couldn’t find the reference for the specific trim setting? but my understanding is full flaps for takeoff and landing, full speed-brakes for the landing as well. I’ve generally been using neutral trim for the takeoff (which seems to work ok) and then just trimming for 95kts on the approach.
      I’m not sure about the lift vs weight of the aircraft. On the one hand, the aircraft is actually based on a glider, so I’d imagine the wings produce quite a bit of lift. On the other hand, there’s probably been a lot of weight added to the airframe. Spoilers on landing are probably partially to help keep the speed back (it does tend to run away a bit otherwise) and also to help keep some thrust on and keep the jet rpms up.
      Sorry that’s all a bit vague haha. Cheers, all the best! : )

    Didn't you think that the radio knobs are a bit out of proportion? I really like jets, but as time goes on in this pretty simulated world i learned to enjoy the slower planes again.
    I noticed the stuttering is better/more subtle now. How is it when you are not recording, do you notice it?
    One hint, make sure you have set your fabric clock in the bios "FCLK" to half your memory clock (3600 -> 1800), as the Infinity fabric interlink on Zen3 works with a 2:1 ratio.
    Otherwise the system will run like a lemon... and in my opinion the Precision Boost algorith that is built in Zen3 is really good, so i wouldn't bother with a manual overclock, it runs great without fiddling around...
    I hope you are happy with your new CPU?! Pushing it to 60-70% is pretty easy low and fast over cities... 💙

      @IntotheBlueSimulations  3 года назад +1

      They are maybe just a smidge bigger than the real units, nothing that detracted from the overall aesthetic of the panel though I felt?
      images.app.goo.gl/cQRUCRHQq3nyYsRbA
      Yes, my simulation habits have changed a lot over the years. I used to be all about the tube-liners, the more “study level” the better. Now I’m very much the “low and slow” type of simmer by preference. This little jet is quite versatile in terms of speed though. You can fairly comfortably get her back at 120kts, so not a whole lot faster than the Turbo Arrow or something. I tend to cruise at 180kts in it. It’s nice if you want to cover a longer trip.
      I’m glad the stuttering situation has seemingly improved! I think what you’re seeing now is more of a sim issue than a hardware issue. The only noticeable stutters I get are when panning through the horizon. I see lots of others have the same. I think it’s basically all of that un-cached scenery loading back in and choking up the CPU (typical, that now I have some nice speedy RAM, the sim isn’t making as much use of it haha). I gather Asobo are going to put a slider in to allow the user to chose how much scenery is cached. I think it’s more noticeable with TrackIR, as you’re panning around more rapidly etc.
      Other than that though, I have to say I’m very pleased with the new setup! Certainly waaay more smooth on my end (though it never felt as bad as it looked in the videos to be fair). I’m GPU-bound now instead, so I guess that’s progress ; )
      Thanks for the tip! I’ve set it as you suggested. It was just on “Auto” before. I’ll probably leave the CPU as it is for the time being yes. Maybe I’ll look into overclocking when it’s nearing the end of its life haha. Thanks again for your help!

Brilliant sounds - except now when I do buy this plane all I will hear is the drinking straw. The wind sound is so good - actually makes me feel cold. Externally it looks a bit like a glider from a certain point of view. Formal wear pilots in waistcoats, all-male crew. Hi Gary,
      I’m afraid I don’t know exactly what might be causing that. Presumably flying lower down, the sim is rendering more autogen and loading up your CPU. I found that I was getting stutters after Sim Update 5, but the addition of the scenery cache slider (I forget what it’s actually called) has allowed me to sort that (for the most part). It would depend on your system setup, as to what the best course of action may be. I certainly wouldn’t consider myself a hardware / setup expert though I’m afraid. . .

      Cheers, all the best!

    Why dont you go make better textures for this aircraft then? You do this on pretty much every release, find some hidden spot in a landing gear well and complain about textures. This thing is just fine! There are more expensive products out there thats worse.
    This is one of the best releases I've had, very little of any issues with this thing so far, its just lovely. I did have the antivirus problem and its been a bit annoying but imagine its a false positive from Microsoft, as Malwarebytes found nothing.
    Go after the devs that release unflyable aircraft because they think it should be a pain in the butt even tho when reading the manuals and reviews from people of the real plane its said to be pretty easy to take off in, and adding trim is optional.
    Mean while other similar aircraft for the sim has gotten updated and now behaves beautifully. Think most of you can figure out what I'm talking about.
    When this is brought up the dev call you names and its defenders too.

      Hello, I don't quite understand your anger.
      Didactically, everything belongs to an excellent factual review. Even the few negative aspects. If you look at the message of the review more closely, the reviewer says that it is the best jet to date for Msfs2020. Objectivity never means not seeing things or trivialising them.
      I find the review didactically excellent. One should only always start with the positive aspects first in the final review.
      Take care of yourself.

      He’s allowed and quite frankly most people are very happy to know all the details especially if we are paying our money for something. Things move on in terms of quality, and while some things are more important than others, a fully comprehensive review should be praised, not attacked, that’s just dumb.

      Hi Murdoch,
      I think that's a somewhat unfair characterisation? Indeed, I do tend to look into some of the more hidden-away areas of a product during my reviews, but this isn't done in an effort to find some sort of "gotcha", it's merely to try and get a feel for the quality of the product throughout. I don't recall ever having said "the textures are blurry - don't buy the aircraft" or anything of a similar nature - I don't think I've ever even "complained" about it; it's merely been done as a point of reference for those who are interested.
      As far as this being one of the best releases for the sim so far, I completely agree! I said as much a number of times throughout the review. . . That doesn't mean one can't be critical of certain aspects of the product however. These reviews are not created for my benefit; personally I'm actually not too fussed about texturing in general, but I know the textures of the addon will not be to everyone's taste and so again, it was pointed out as a point of interest. Cleary my critique was not wholly invalid, as the developer is in fact giving the addon an overhaul in the texturing department.
      To my mind, it's not a question of "going after" anyone. I try my best to give every addon a fair and informative review. Of course this process can be rather subjective in nature, but I always start out looking to give the product the best review that I can and then work my way backwards from there. I realise a lot of hard work goes into most of these addons, work that I do not have the requisite skills to accomplish myself. Once again though, I don't critique it for the sake of deriding a devs work, I critique it so that the customer can understand what they are purchasing.
      As for anyone calling anyone names (if I understand you correctly?), I honestly couldn't care less. I would hope that it's clear from the way that I structure my videos, that I actually go to some time and effort to showcase any products that I feature, in as positive a light as I can. Any negative critique is not a personal attack on the developer, but for the info of the viewer / customer. I don't believe there is a single dev I haven't critiqued (or indeed praised) where it was due. Names are fine, if that's how people want to play it. . .
      Anyway, just my two pennies worth; at attempt to explain things on the other side of the fence.
      All the best!

      @@IntotheBlueSimulations It's funny, I've watched a few of your reviews now and after watching this one, I thought 'I really must subscribed to this guy'....the main reason why is because you cover everything, from starting the buggers up, to landing them and shutting um down. I'm off now to buy this aircraft based not solely, but mostly on your review. Thanks.

      Well thanks very much! Yes, that’s certainly what I aim for (to give the aircraft a thorough shakedown). I figure if I do my best to operate it by the book, then any bugs etc will show themselves naturally. I’m sure my reviews aren’t to everyone’s tastes and that’s fine honestly; you learn very quickly on RUclips, that you can’t please everyone all of the time, I think it would be unreasonable to expect otherwise haha. It seems that quite a few people do enjoy the vids / find them useful though and as I enjoy making them, that’s great!
      Thanks very much for the subscription, welcome aboard! I hope you’re enjoying the little C22J : )
