  • After seeing my earlier posting of the Rev. Kelsey, John Westwood sent me this audio track. I think the 'rocking' last half, alone, deserves a posting on my channel as an example of one of the roots of my kind of music. Thanks, again, John.

Half of my youth growing up was spent,,,, in Bible Way Church,,,,,,,, the other half of my youth was spent at Bishop Kelsey's Church at 1345 Park road Northwest DC,,,,, loving holy convocation,,,,, there's no sound like COGIC,,,,,, consequently Bishop Kelsey and Bishop Williams were best of friends,,,,, I had the privilege of growing up ,,, of having the best of both worlds,,,, I was just a kid but I do remember mother Hampton and Bishop Kelsey,,,,, and when Bishop Kelsey went home to be with the Lord elder Ricky McCrimmon sang this song (little boy how old are you) God bless Bishop Samuel Kelsey 💯🙏❤️

If you listen to bishop when he sings his part, he sounds like he's rapping.

I wish someone would post that video of Lena Phillips singing solo again from that concert Bishop Kelsey did in Europe and sang. I forgot the name of the song she sang but it was so spirit-filled and beautiful. It's a song you don't hear anymore.

I couldn't agree more, the 'participation' is why I posted it.

The pictures came from various sources on 'the web', but I don't remember which. Try a Google search under 'images'. Good luck,
    Clive.

Most of the instruments that were played at Bishop Kelsey's Church were the Hammond organ,,,, the piano,,,,, the trombone horn,,,, the drums,,,, the trumpet,,,, and a lot of hand clapping foot stomping,,,,, tambourine and yes even the old washboard,,,,, growing up at Bishop Kelsey's church was fun and very musical,,,,, and very spirit field 🙏💯😇❤️
