      @@ChristianVBlue3 Its actually an in-joke on New York City politics, as for decades until the 1990s, you had to win support of the Catholic clergy in order to have enough votes to win election to Mayor, otherwise the Catholics would vote for the other candidate who had the clergy's support. It was a lasting part of NYC politics originating in the late 19th Century along with the Tammany Hall political machine (which was dominated by Catholics from Ireland) and remained an important influence long after local politics had adapted to the decline and disappearance of Tammany Hall in the mid 20th Century.

      Cardinal!
      priest < bishop < cardinal < pope
      _The mayor addresses him as “Your Eminence” and his hat (zucchetto) and sash are both scarlet, which makes him a cardinal - a ‘prince’ of the Roman Catholic Church; which back then, was still a pretty big deal in New York City, when it had a population that lent heavily towards origins both Irish and Italian._

      Archbishop and Cardinal .You can be both

    • @michaeljames4904
      @michaeljames4904 3 года назад +2

      @@oolooo OP is accurate comment but insufficient: it *has to be* both. You _need_ to be a priest to be a bishop (the most significant promotion: deemed to make you a descendant of the apostles; you get your own cathedral and diocese). You _have_ to be a bishop in order to be made a cardinal (politics, talent and ambition). And cardinals are the ones from whom popes are selected (politics, again, and random chance - interpreted by Catholics as “the intervention of the Holy Spirit”).
      Though, theoretically, the Conclave of Cardinals could choose *any* ordained priest to be pontiff - _The Pope Must Die(t)_ was a 1991 comedy film based on that premise; it’s on RUclips and is pretty funny.

    People keep wanting to remake this movie without understanding why it was great. It wasn't the ghostbusting, it was having a pack of genius comics hamming it up. And even with the original talent, it only worked once. The chick version didn't have close to that kind of talent. The new one looks like Stranger Things with a Ghostbusters logo stuck on it. It might be watchable but it will never come close to the original.
