- Hi everyone,
Here's a pretty good (unofficial) build of LineageOS 18.1 (Android 11) for the Samsung Galaxy S7 series - Exynos-only.
Everything is working beautifully, the ROM has a very good RAM management which results in great battery life as well.
Once again, the ROM is only compatible with the Exynos-powered devices, do not try installing if you have a Snapdragon based device.
Select build coresponding to your device.

Lol I'm still using the stock operating system which is really nice, really love it. Though it's time to get some security updates because I think I have a zero day virus. I need to send my phone in for a forensic analysis before upgrading the OS.
Same, TouchWiz is so nice, or whatever Samsung calls it these days. I really don't want to upgrade but with my device starting to slow down a bit I may have to to extend its life. Plus security is good too, but idk if I can give up this beautiful desktop environment which Samsung created.
I highly doubt that it's a zero day. Those are used to target high value targets and as you're behind some security updates, a bulk of well known malware is publicly available to pwn your device.
Lineage OS 18.1 likes it for daily use, when installing the first update there are no problems, even though the ROM has been installed with magisk and some busybox modules such as dolby tweak gaming have no problems. Rich developers have calculated this is great lineage
i'll wait for android 15 then i'll upgrade my galaxy s7 android 8 to that one to feel an actual difference, because generally, they don't look that diff (8 and 11)
Since LineageOS doesn't support the s7 anymore... Does that still mean you can install an older build and keep updating to all newer versions of LineageOS?

I got WiFi issues. Device is connecting to WLAN and then tries to reconnect every 2 seconds. Any ideas?

Camera worked, pictures can be taken. But the flashlight for camera seems not to work.
Do I need to install magisk if I don't really want to root the device? It might not be very important but I play Fire Emblem Heroes and Nintendo is known for not allowing their games to be played in custom roms, let alone rooted devices. The main reason I installed LineageOS on my device is because I don't really like the stock UI of Samsung and Android Oreo seems to be outdated. Having Android 11 on such an old device is one of the greatest things about custom roms, and I really love the interface, pretty good looking and clean. Thanks for the video, I really appreciate it, long time has passed since I last rooted or install a custom rom, I almost forgot about it, but I got my phone stolen and they gave me this S7 and at least I will be able to enjoy using it with such a clean rom.
PD. I'm playing fire emblem heroes and it doesn't appear to be a problem even though I'm using a custom rom, this is awesome! Now I don't really feel the need of rooting the device since it's a clean rom and doesn't have samsung's bloatware anyway. Again thanks for the video, as I said, I'm not new to flashing custom roms and rooting but I was starting to forget about it, and the joy that cames when being able to make it work. :)

How do you manage security updates with lineage os?
You can dirty flash subsequent builds.
I'm new to this, what are the dangers or the down side to doing this to my device?
Any data you had in the origibal os will be deleted when you install this one
@@fred-youtube if you don't backup your OS. Full OS backup even backs up non system apps.
On my Galaxy S7 with lineageOS 18.1 I cannot get location services to fuction . Is the GPS module not supported? (Location Setting is activated and rights to the app is given)

Why is Exynos supported but not Snapdragon? Doesn't it make more sense for the devs to support the more widely used SoC?
@@AmazingAmeya oh interesting. I did some research after and found it has something to do with a locked bootloader. I think the Chinese Snapdragon variant is unlocked and has some roms for it. I have the Canadian version so maybe it'll work?

@@thingsido6348 nah... I actually found out that my phone is Exynos, the international and therefore more widely used SoC, so I stopped looking into it, sorry... Your best bet is to ask a question on XDA

@@thingsido6348 Pardon? I don't quite understand what you mean by "went straight out to sea"? I found out the Canadian version uses an Exynos CPU and not Snapdragon - are you saying you were about to follow a guide that would brick your device, but stopped when you saw my comment?

This might sound stupid, but is it possible to have brightness adjust without having to pull down all the way? Similarly have the settings button at the top without having to swipe all the way down? Very basic, but things I always hated with stock android. Thanks.
I think lineageos has that exact feature. At one point I used and enjoyed that feature on one of lineageos versions (maybe 15.0). And I think it should be in the latest version.

only bug is that whatsapp does not recover the backup
WhatsApp changes its settings for android 11. Before it created folder of WhatsApp in internal storage but in android 11 it is creating it's folder in Internal_Storage/Android/data that's why it can't recover backup.
Gapps for Note 3 is somehow not compatible

Floyd v6 have wifi issue so dont thinks so.
I would choose the LineageOS only because it's the only one I;ve used and I haven't noticed any major bugs.
Floyd v6 has WiFi Range Issues. And I have missed Alarms many times.

how the bloody hell do you convert the stinking Image file to a .tar file so I can install this or even 10 to my Samsung 7 your vid on 10 using odin not picking up the file in the download and giving me a recovery.img not a tar file WTH can you email me and let me know what the heck Im doing wrong
Lineage os 18.1 sucks and have multiple reboots and crushes . Stuck at anywhere while opening apps and random reboots .i recommend not install its not stable at all

it doesnt matter what android version you have and yes its compatible with Exynos version of Samsung Galaxy S7

MikeTheSavvy, I need your help. I need to patch 'magisk_patched.img' to my S10 Plus so I can get Ramdisk running on Magisk but can't do it as the S10 does not have fastboot mode. How can I do it?. Thanks
You should be able to flash it with twrp or odin
