I swear, they must be about to drop one big major update because im trying to understand why announce stems and then wait an entire month plus to release it in an update

Exactly, koala sampler which is a 5 dollar app been had stem separation and the quality of the app sound similar to the MPC .
Every RUclipsr got access except public . But they use them to promote something on the false pretense. I’m done with the click bait hype from RUclipsrs on this. Unnecessary if you ain’t ready for primetime you ain’t ready for primetime..
It's crazy to think about when you pause a moment. This technology, being able to convincingly separate stems, just shattered every frontiers for sampling. Everything can be redone, any sample
I've been doing this with Lalal for a while now ( I consider this to be the best algo out there. ) There are still some things you can't get pull out of samples. Getting better all the time though.
workflow has become so so good ! epic time to be with mpc.

I just care about the stand-alone implementation. I don’t care for the software. The wait is killing me
@@kroser1983I use to feel that way but then I hooked it up to the computer and it all ‘clicked’ why anyone would; it’s like mpc on steroids if you already have oodles of samples on pc or external or both. Not to mention you can use any plugin that you have on your computer. I still use standalone but the controller mode is certainly crazy. Sorry I’m a bit faded
@@keithprice1950no need to market a free update for months in advanced. And it’s corny marketing, they basically just gave it to RUclipsrs. Should’ve just dropped a demo
When will STEMS be available to the general public? I've only seen RUclipsrs with relationships with Akai that have access to the program so far. I've heard the others say that there are glitches and that Akai has backed off the release date.

All isolation programs have artifacts depending on the music used. Try a file with fuller orchestrations and more crossing frequencies

You're always going to get glitches with this. Some instruments are right in the same frequency as vocals ( horns for example and certain percussion element that frequency mask ) AI is getting better but it's not perfect at pulling complete tracks out of a tune by any stretch.
looking forward to it. It changed my Dj-ing for good since DJay launched their improved stems 4 months ago.

Hi, this is more in tune with how I would want to use something like this so this is great, would you be able to say if you can do this and then copy the pad chop to another chop, and use different paramaters adjusting the levels like you did here differently for each copy individually without it affecting the original pad? Would effectively allow something like a low pass or high pass copy of pad without having to make a seperate program and use a plugin filter on each.
Yes you can do it, that's how I approach it too

Can’t bloody wait but I’m only standalone on Mpc Live so probs gotta wait a bit more 😢
Just to be clear, the mpc needs to be in the Controller Mode, which means things are going to sound as good as what your audio interface is, the problem is going to be when you go to standalone mode with these stems they are NOT going to sound the same, and with the converters in the MPC being just average, you can hear the difference. Akai is NOT going to be able to give stem separation in standalone mode because it uses tremendous amount of CPU, hence the controller mode. Lastly stem separation is been available in Cubase for over 5 years, and it is still the gold standard, specially if you go the Spectral Analyzer, you will have optimum quality of the original file source. I just wish they create a proper stand alone machine so we dont have to connected to the computer. Make s flagship mpc with NONE of the plugins and bells and whistles and with the same work flow and bad ass converter, It can be done look at what Dave Rossum is doing with the SP-1200. Thank you for all your videos, they are great as usual.
If they gave even a gig more of ram they could....but that would make other devices that are supposed to be better less...so won't happen...
For instance...key 37...they give more ram then the key 61ers are like wtf...I just pId all this for what!!!

the absence of artifacts is a trade-off, you can hear those air instruments in the voice stem, obviously because they are in the same range of dominant frequencies, Akai prefers not to separate sounds. That's why you don't hear artifacts.
Yes that's right. I prefer it like this than having a bunch of unusable sounds.

The recent Andy Mack / Illa J stems demo had hella artifacts. Sounded no better than Koala. They ACTED like it sounded perfect, LOL. Anyway I believe it has to do w/ compression. They used an iPhone to sample in. Raw vinyl in has much greater dynamic separation, so that might be the difference. 🎉

After stem separation and if something wasn’t removed completely, like that sound with the vocal, can u then take that new sample, maybe apply a little eq and whatever, then try and stem it again to get closer to removing that extra sound completely or do u think that’s a waste of time??

Is there a way of chopping something like normal and stem all the chops so every pad has 4 layers straight away. Or do I have to chop it convert to programme, and then stem each pad. That way I can lay something down like normal and then turn down certain elements on certain chops.. could do this after the fact. But I was wondering if I'm missing something?
There's no quick way unfortunately, either do it that way or slice everything first then stem the sample. The slices get attributed to the stems. Ill make a video on this
Greetings, what kind of camera are you using and what tripod are you using for you over head shot?
I use the black magic 6kpro. And the tripod has an horizontal neck grip, I can remember the brand now

Will the original MPC X have enough ram to process the stems?
I believe the mpc should be good with 4ram it’s the 2ram I’m worried about. The process might take longer so I’m thinking of batch stemming
Will you be able to add effects on to stems individually? Like have a delay or phaser on the vocals only.

I just watched your video and I do like what they’re doing with the stems. As an MPC user I noticed the USB plug is missing. so are you showing us the standalone beta😮?
No it's not standalone. You can see the icon top right would show an IC chip if it was standalone. I think he hid the cable.

So you can stem straight from the standalone? Do you need to do anything on the computer?
This is for the computer for now, standalone will come later this year.

No standalone mode yet. The icon at top right would be a chip if it was standalone. He's either placed the camera to not show the USB cable (which would be visible to the right of the black power cable, above the D pad bank button, or he's tucked the cable out of the way (right angle connector?).....or digitally masked it out.
At this point this is torture watching other people play with it
What happens we you try to stem a sample that has no vocals or no drums, or a sample that is not even a song?

I just updated my mpcx to the new 2.13 firmware, and I don't see that buttin when I go into program edit. What am I missing?
