- Not a review, but a joyride. There are people that hold a certain level of respect from me in regards to the products they create. Products that I don't need to hear or see before I buy because I just know it's gonna be good. Their track records have proven that their passion and integrity come first.
After seeing the videos for the Chroma Console, it was hard to wait the 4 weeks it took to get delivered. It's no wonder shipping times are long. I'm sure a lot of people are grabbing this thing. The music and videos they make are some of the best I've ever seen.
This pedal is incredibly fun to use, and ignites nostalgia and creativity. 10 years ago, I may not have been so stoked to grab it, but thanks to synthesizers, my horizons have been broadened, and there's so much more to play with.
Between the Microcosm and the Chroma Console, you have a lifetime of exploration. Too bad they're not battery powered. This puts a little kink in my lean toward portability, but maybe I can figure a way around that. Maybe I can build a little pedalboard with rechargeable power to take with me because there's nothing like plugging my OP-1 Field into this setup.
Make sure to grab the Dojo Drums sample pack from @SONWU , it's so good!!! I have it parked in my OP-1.

seriously, thanks for taking the time to make this! it's not often that we hear people summarizing our design vision so accurately and succinctly. hope you continue to find inspiration!
You guys rule. The things you make are infinitely inspiring.
That’s cool
there is no upper limit to how many of your videos i can watch
You’re the upper limit
Man, i'm so glad that i've searched for a CM-15 review and it brought me to your channel.
Thank you for your creative sincerity and allaround vibe.
No way!! That’s really nice of you to say! Thank you for taking the time to watch. I’m doing my best to make more ✌🏼😎
You’re my spirit animal. 🙏🏽👍🏽👍🏽
My man!
@@NovakTheEnjoyer dude, our musical journeys are so similar. I got into synthesis like 3 or 4 years ago, after being a guitar player for years and a piano player since childhood. What you said about coming to understand texture and the nature of sound is so spot on. I’m still in the tinkering phase and not really sure how to fit it together, (like you were describing) and not sure where it’s taking me, but if there were more hours in the day, I’d do more of all of it. Your videos are always a pleasure, bro. Thanks for being you.
@@TimCatching tinkerers for life, homeboy!
@@NovakTheEnjoyer yeah dude! I wish I could get over the hump of tinkering and get to the production phase, but the tinkering is enough, even if it never goes further than that, to keep me sane and satisfied. After all, the universe is full of unappreciated creation, all products of divine tinkering, and if the Gods can create without attachment, aim, or expectations of applause, perhaps that’s the way. Either way, grateful to you for your contributions, and inspired to witness your path. Cheers homie.
@@TimCatching cheers to that!
the shot of the mic with the background shaking 😗👌
I've realized recently how much I've been sleeping on Hologram. They've been on my radar, but shit, everything sounds so good. Great demo!
Thanks so much for watching!
that intro jam definitely feels like a mutemath track 10/10
Thanks man!!
brooooo, this groove is fuego
Thanks doggie dogg!
I love experimenting with the Microcosm on my Bass, and I am keen on a Chroma Console now.
You can’t lose with either one. I love experimenting with the bass too!!
Hi Novak, fairly recent subscriber here! I was wondering if you would ever do a video on your production routine, like on the songs you play during the videos? I'm really new to music production and I love the way you sound, and would love to learn from you!
Yeah, I’ve definitely thought about doing how to videos. Stay tuned, and thanks for watching 😊
I really love your videos! You're very easy to listen to and I enjoy your creative process!
I really appreciate that, thanks!
fuuuc this is tasty man thanks! i’m saving for the cm15 but enjoy your content 🙏🏼
Thanks for watching!! You’ll be stoked on the CM15 😎👍🏼
Are you reading my mind? Just a couple days ago I put this in my cart lol.
Super cool jams here, by the way 🔥🔥🔥
No way! I’m having so much fun with mine!! You’re gonna love it
super helpful words of insight. im a guitarist primarily and lots of what you say (and play) resonate with me. i currently have the strymon timeline and big sky which have been my guitar pedal board staples, but recently hooked them up to my op1f rig and love it, BUT im still wondering about the two hologram pedals lol. do you feel the hologram pedals offer something quite different from the two strymon pedals?
I haven’t tried the Strymon stuff, but I hear it’s amazing. I’ve noticed that the Big Sky seems to be a staple and I don’t think the Hologram reverbs, although really beautiful especially in the microcosm, can stand up to a stand alone reverb like that.
That being said, the Hologram pedals have such a huge personality that it really doesn’t matter what you have in your bag, they’ll stand out in terms of sound, but on the same token, they’re designed in a way that is intuitive and so much fun to play with.
I’ve only gone as far as pedal power with Strymon (because I have a colossal video idea in the works 😎)
@@NovakTheEnjoyer that makes a ton of sense. i will likely pick up the hologram pedals eventually, just a matter of when :D and also i am very excited for said colossal video!
2:00 so true 💸💸💸
Aaaaah yess
Right on time
Gr8 groove 🎛️👾🎸🎹🌌
Thanks dude!!
@@NovakTheEnjoyer yeah I got the console in January, it’s a beast . Looking forward to your Hologram Voltron combo video 🤖🎛️🎛️🎛️🎛️😂
I grew up with a multi-effects pedal, and it felt like it was adding noise, rather than modifying sound. Glad to see there are better options out there 😅
Yeah, every time I tried one it rubbed me the wrong way. This video got me thinking though…. Maybe those mults have characteristic I didn’t know to listen for now that I’ve gotten more into sampling and synthesis. I’m way more open minded with sound these days than I used to be.
@@NovakTheEnjoyer Yeah, same here. I used to be anti-effect-stupid-boy. We all kinda suck in our twenties, though, right?
@@AlBenChris89 totally!!!
Aye! Solid video. Ok, so I have the OP1f, the Microcosm, and the Chroma Console (+ a Mood MKII)
My question, how are you routing the pedals. Is it as simple as taking the out of the OP1 - to the pedals, back into the OP1? Or are you going into a DAW?
`Yo! I've been goin OP1F > Microcosm > Chroma Console. Probably should've mentioned that in the video. Lots of things I should've mentioned in the video, lol.
I use a Forge midi to USB cable to sync them. I was having trouble with the USB-C from the OP1F to the Chroma Console. How are you syncing them?
@@NovakTheEnjoyer I've ordered a Morningstar MC3 that I plan to link my entire board, but at the moment, I am not syncing. I am exploring freeform looping, using a
ditto+
@@mattsmour Can’t wait to try the reverse.
I do route everything into the OP1F except for the OP1F itself. For that I’m trying to record into a clocked TX-6 and then bring it back to the OP1, but I don’t know how much longer I’m gonna be trying to do that, it’s just too convoluted. I’ll probably start using the dog again to get the OP field recorded through the holograms stuff.
I really wish they could figure out the feedback loop situation. I’m not an engineer, but I know that the metronome doesn’t record itself to the track so I have to assume there’s a way to separate the signals. 🤷🏻♂️ idk.
I’m really stoked that the filter is working out for you. I love mine. Now I have the CM15, but before that, the filter made jams possible for me.
@@NovakTheEnjoyer i think the feedback will be fixed, i too feel the bite of this issue since i’m an op1f as a daw type of chap myself. i’ve heard they are working more on USB audio flexibility so perhaps in the not too distance future we can select audio out from op1 as all ch but audio back in (from an hologram fx loop in tx6) as a separate channel
@@NovakTheEnjoyer actually shit you can do this now with 1.5.7 firmware. you’ll need a ground loop isolator. op1f into tx6 via usb, tx6 in 12ch bidirectional mode, fx loop in tx6 using aux line out, main from tx6 into op1f line in, only 100% wet signal from fx loop track in tx6 is turned on via sliders, and op1f input mode set to line in. this will allow you to record your op1f internal synth sound (100% dry) with the 100% wet signal from your fx loop (via line in)
The CIOKS 4 or the J. Rocket Audio Designs Juice Bar can be powered off portable battery banks and can power the Chroma Console.
...I know this because it's something I'm contemplating as well.
Thank you!!
Have you ever messed with TC Electronics or Eventide multi-fx processors?
I haven’t tried those. The TC looks tempting. Am I missing a whole genre of baddass multi fx?
Awesome video man! Where’d you get that filter for the Cm-15????
Hey! I made it. Putting the finishing touches on it before it goes up on novaktheenjoyer.com
I had no idea the compressor was so useful on this
It sounds really fantastic

Oh no, lol! I do the same thing all the time. Thanks for watching! I hope I didn’t get you into any trouble 😄
To microcosm ; please do a battery powered version. ❤
!!!!!!! Rechargeable Effects Boxes for all !!!!!!!
There's definitely some battery powered options for your pedal board these days. One being the new step up from my volts. I'm excited to try those out...
do you ever do 1:1 lessons? I feel like I could learn a lot from you!
I’ve definitely thought about phone hangouts! Still looking for the best way to set that up. I’ll post something when I figure it out. I would love to talk shop!
Thanks for the info on the battery powered board. Will look into it 💪🏼

Please novak do a pop filter for the CM 15 ❤
It’s a different beast, but I’m using a line 6 hx stomp. Multi fx definitely got better 😂
Good to know! I have preconceived notions about Line 6 because of my experience with their gear when they started making amps with all of the effects built in. I was an analog purist. My opinion of them is totally unwarranted, but burned in.
@@NovakTheEnjoyer I understand…Insane Mode Spider memories unlocked
I didn’t get that, so do you like the chroma console?
…SCNR 😜
lol, it’s alright….
Lovely! And your filming/editing skills are improving quickly!
PS. What is that beautiful eurorack case you got on your wall? I'd love one once I move.
I appreciate that! I made the Modular on the wall from plywood and attached with screws. Pretty simple build
